A Lesbian's Guide to Women

Rate this book
Annalise Finch is content - she has a job she enjoys, lives close to her family and friends, and spends most Wednesday nights drinking wine with her grandma. According to her grandma, though, she has lost her sparkle, and the only solution is to join a site to hook up with other women. The only problem (aside from a meddling grandma with a dirty mind) is Annalise doesn’t like women. At least, that’s what she always thought, but when she meets Brinley Adams, she starts to question everything.

Brinley Adams loves women, but not commitment. She is more than happy picking up ladies at the bar she works at to have a little fun. When a hot blonde walks into her bar and completely fails to go home with the woman she came with, what choice does Brinley have but to take her under her wings?

Their arrangement is perfect - Brinley will teach Annalise everything she knows about pleasing a woman, and in turn, Brinley gets to have a little fun herself. Since neither of them are interested in any sort of commitment, what could possibly go wrong? It’s not like this is a romantic comedy.

Her grandma’s eyes lit up and she wiggled around in her chair as if she couldn’t contain her excitement. “I love it! Who is it? One of your friends? It’s Nathalie, isn’t it? I always got the feeling she wanted to tickle your naughty bits.”

━━━━━━━━━━━ ♡ ━━━━━━━━━━━

Arini has reminded me of my passion for writing 1 star reviews so here tf we go. Don't expect anything thorough, but I'm getting it all out. Our fmc Annalise (h) is a 'straight woman' (😹😹) that is convinced by her GRANDMOTHER(?!) to hook up with a woman. She obviously tells the woman that it's her first time with a woman and that she doesn't like women so obviously the woman isn't the most chipper about being an experiment for her. It was presented as the woman being so mean to Annalise but like let's rethink what this means for that woman. Personally, I would NOT be comfortable with having sex with a woman who believes she is still straight. That's WEIRD, sorry. So meanwhile, Brinley (h) [what typa name??] is watching this all go down from the bar and proposes a "I teach you how to have sex with women" thing. Fun lil sneek peek for yall:

Brinley cleared her throat and ran her eyes up and down Annalise’s body once again. “I am more than happy to move on to that.” She pointed down toward her crotch. “My vagina would like you to know that it is very excited as well.”

Brinley is so unlikable. She has this fuckboy vibe and I shit you not, says the words "I don't do relationships". So she's all dudebro and like "let me show you how I fuck women YEAHH GRRR ARGGGG" and I'm like 🥴🙅‍♀️👎😟.

In addition to the fucking love interest being bleh, the side characters are so cartoonishly annoying it's horrible. The grandma has no filter, saying random weird shit. Saying that Annalise's best friend must have come on to her? Even though she has a HUSBAND? Something about naughty bits? Someone kill me. Maybe this type of humour will work for people, but for me it was just pure embarrassment and mortification.

Also, when does bad humour begin to equal bad writing because I'm thinking...now. Now it does, because Annalise's bff is so obnoxious and disgusting and eugh.

“Whoa. Hold up. Someone is teaching you how to have sex with women and you didn’t tell your bestie? The girl who was there when you first kissed a boy? The one who cheered you on during your first blow job?”

??? - this isn't a new character archetype, the bubble-headed, no-filter, loud best friend is nothing new, but gosh it's so unrealistic and awful. Like who the fuck says that?? 😭😭 It just gave me whiplash. She's always making weirdly explicit comments that just made even ME uncomfortable.

"Any one would love you in this outfit. Hell, I might be tempted to lick you after seeing you in it."

HUH? That's so weird 😭. I guess it's the author trying to show that they're close friends since they speak so...openly...to each other but I just hated it. So...this definitely falls into the 'bad writing' category for me, at least. But then, there's this line that just makes my braincells shrivel every time.

“The only way to get the stick out of your ass is by putting something else in it.”

😀😀😀 Again, maybe this type of humour works for people, but for me it was just off-putting. The romance itself was weakly set up, not only because of Brinley's character in general, but also because their dialogue is so bland. Like there's no substance to it.

Brinley looked down at her watch then back at Annalise. “Right on time.”
This brought a smile to Annalise’s face. She sighed as she put both hands down on the bar. “I was never once late for a class. I’m not going to start now.”
“Nerd,” Brinley said while coughing into her hand.

Like, this conversation is so...superficial? And unnatural? Or at least I think so. I didn't read any dialogue that seemed genuine and realistic (in the first 29% at least). And also, who the fuck has never been late to class, ever???

Then there's the sex scene. I read one...and that was enough 😹 Annalise started talking about liking her boobs squeezed super hard and we just saw Brinley squeeze them harder and harder - that and Brinley talking about her vagina in third person is a no from me, cheers 👋. Thanks for that GH 😒.

Here’s the thing... I expected to not like this book! You see, my friend wrote a *super* review of this. She did NOT love Grandma! And she didn’t like some of the lines.

And she was right: Grandma is supposed to be wacky and fun, but I found her annoying, especially with some of her lines. And the best friend, Nathalie, I pretty much hated, at least until near the end, when she isn’t trivializing sexuality (slash being closet bi herself).

And when Grandma sets up her (supposedly) straight granddaughter on a lesbian dating app and tells her to go try it, I felt we were pushing the boundaries of belief as drop-dead gorgeous hot blonde Annalise does just that.

Still with me…? If you are, you might be rolling your eyes too 🙄? As I was at this point 😕

But here’s the (other) thing, it actually makes for a fun setup, and now we can connect to the fun title and super cover. And off we go!

When Annalise is righty dumped by her hookup from the Clit Lit app, up steps Brinley, who offers to teach Hot Blonde how to enjoy girls. And she does, step by step. The lessons and “practice assignments” make for a very nice, but spicy, slowburn relationship between the girls.

I still didn’t like scenes that went back to Grandma and Nathalie, but every scene with the leads felt more real and organic than I thought given the setup. And I rooted for Annalise to continue her education and to fall for her teacher.

So, in the end, I adored this!

It’s cheesy maybe; it’s silly maybe. But it's fun 😃

The supporting characters fall flat maybe. But the chemistry with the leads is very present 🔥 and both girls are lovely 🥰

4 stars if I had to take Grandma seriously (she’s more creepy than wacky, I thought).

4.5 stars since I could skim thru the scenes with characters I didn’t like—fortunately only about 15% of the whole story—and because Ms. lee didn't add in the needless reversal trope (it wasn't required in any way), preferring to let us follow whether and how the girls would get over their own issues and come to admit they might be right for each other.

So, actually, 5 stars because everything I love about a romance story like this was done very well by Ms. Lee. The setup is a super idea (sure, not executed as I'd have chosen) and she progresses the romance cleverly, and every page with the leads is either hot or fun or both 😀.

I read 2 other, series-linked, books by another author while I was reading the first pages of this. I thought I'd like the other 2 books more, and this one less. Guess what? 😃

I shall always remember and wish these MCs, Annalise (Hot Blonde) and Brinley (Hot Doctor-to-Be) well 😀

2 ★ | First of all Annalise. Girl. You have no self respect LMAO. I cannot put into words the frustration I feel when the MC sleeps with other people whilst simultaneously denying their feelings for the love interest it’s just so jarring to me. To top it all off she goes “I’ll finish what another woman started”. 🤨🫵📸 Gotchu. That’s all kinds of wrong 😀??? Bear in mind she had sex with some randomer and then goes STRAIGHT to Brinley after. Like GIRL, GO SHOWER. In hindsight Brinley’s just as bad because she’s enabling her behaviour! You’ve got to laugh really. Or you will most definitely cry.

The phrasing throughout cringed me tf out but that doesn’t take a lot for me. Make your own mind up. Or don’t. Grandma needs to be STOPPED. She annoyed the hell out of me. It’s when she said “I knew she wanted to tickle your naughty bits”. Arrest her. Immediately. Overbearing and annoying. Both at the same time. Again. I cringed. HARD.

The way the author included themselves in the book is just so funny to me like. Faaaair enough. Shameless plug.

All that to say this. It was cute. But I couldn’t finish it I’m afraid. The way Brinley is so considerate and caring and patient with Annalise is adorable, like omg she’s such a sweetheart. My advice: DO BETTER. The negative outweighs the positive on this one.

Another note, there is hardly any miscommunication. I’m pointing this out because I know so many readers hate that trope.

DNF at 66%. I’m sorry. After the second “chode toe” I couldn’t do it. I tried so hard. 😭😭😭

This book was such a fun read.

I really enjoyed Annalise and Brinley’s story. Their chemistry was great, and it was easy to get invested in their relationship. The way things unfolded between them felt natural and kept me interested the whole time.

What I liked most was how the book handled the "friends with benefits" trope. It was steamy and funny, but also had a lot of healthy communication, which I always appreciate. The side characters added a lot of charm too, especially Annalise’s grandma. She was hilarious and loved teasing Annalise, which made for some really fun moments.

The part that touched me the most was seeing Brinley find a new family in Annalise’s. It was really sweet to watch her get the love and acceptance she deserved. Those moments made me smile so much.

I’m definitely looking forward to the sequel ! I want to see where Annalise and Brinley’s story goes next, and I’d love to read more from Erica Lee. Her writing is easy to get into and really enjoyable.

Overall, if you’re looking for a light, funny, and steamy romance without unnecessary drama, this is a great pick.

Cute and Spicy. Annalise and Brinley had great chemistry and a good foundation for an actual relationship. Brinley was patient, caring, and I loved that she didn’t try to label Annalise. Brinley understood that it wasn’t her place to do so and gave Annalise the space to find herself without any pressure. Annalise’s fear and confusion on the topic of her sexuality was well-written and portrayed. I thought the side characters were supportive, comedic, and my favorite one was the grandma who wasn’t afraid to pull out the sympathy card. A Lesbian’s Guide To Women was sweet, spicy, and fun to read.

So adorably sexy!

Annalise's grandmother enters her in a wlw app after her boyfriend dumps her. Though Annalise swears shes straight, she goes along with it. Her first date ends being horrible but she meets Brinley who offers to teach her how to have sex with women. In learning this new skill, she also discovers something about herself that her family and best friend already knew about her. This is such an enjoyable, sexy and HOT book! Definitely worth more than 5 stars, and a reread!

I absolutely loved A Lesbian's Guide to Women by Erica Lee, narrated by the fantastic Lori Prince. This audiobook was an absolute joy from start to finish, blending humor, steam, and heart in a way that left me smiling long after it ended.

From the moment I heard the syllabus and the recommended reading, I knew I was in for a treat. The clever inclusion of these elements set the tone for the book and added a delightful layer of authenticity to the story. I even went ahead and bought the e-books that were on that list—I couldn't resist!

Lori Prince did an incredible job bringing this story to life. Her narration perfectly captured the insecurities of Annalise as she navigated her journey of self-discovery, and it was a joy to hear her grow into her confidence and embrace her sexual identity. Prince's performance added depth and warmth to Annalise's character, making her journey feel even more personal and real.

Brinley’s character was another highlight for me. The author did a fantastic job portraying her confidence and swagger—I have to admit, I have a huge crush on her! She gave me strong 76th Street Girl vibes, and I couldn’t get enough of her charm and charisma.

The secondary characters and family dynamics were wonderfully done as well. Grandma was an absolute riot, providing many laugh-out-loud moments that added to the overall warmth and humor of the story.

One of the best things about this book is how it subverts typical romance tropes. There’s no third-act breakup, just a genuine, feel-good love story that celebrates the joy of finding yourself and finding love. It’s refreshing and makes the story all the more enjoyable.

*This will definitely be a go-to reread and relisten for me*. It's such a feel-good story, with the perfect balance of steam, humor, and heartfelt moments. Thank you to Erica Lee for crafting such a wonderful love story, and to Lori Prince for bringing it to life so brilliantly. This audiobook is a true gem!

I loved how much heart this book had, even though it was 80% sex scenes. Brinley and Annalise were two loveable idiots who spend a lot of the book thinking they didn't have feelings until the end. I love these types of books, as you can't help but smile at their ridiculousness.

This is only the second read from Erica Lee but I'll be hunting out her others for sure.

This was my first Erica Lee book in years and I’ll be honest, I don’t think I’m the target audience. Others wrote raving reviews though, so go read those. All I’ll say is that Lori Prince does a great job once more, so if you decide this book is for you, I recommend listening to it.

I received a copy from the narrator and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Really only 2.6 stars. It started out really funny, but half way through, 53% it wasn't funny any more and even the sex scenes were repetitive, not to say boring. The worst bit was, that the supposedly straight woman, who also was supposed to fall in love with her lesbian bartender friend and expert sexologist, stll sems to be continuously fucking around. Even th Grandma character wasn't funny any more, so I stopped reading on, because the would be romance had died for me.

Don’t be a book snob about this one. Just go into it with the right expectations. Is Brinley a dumb name? Absolutely. Is the grandma unrealistic? Of course she is! Is it a ridiculous premise? Oh my gawd, YES! Is everything a little too good to be true? Bet your ass it is. Sometimes you just need to suspend your disbelief and enjoy something silly. If you’re in that mood, read this little treasure.

It’s just so fluffy and fun and so damn sweet. I binged it in half a day and it was just a delightfully spicy little Hallmark of a wlw story. Very low angst, syrupy sweet, and easy on the brain.

Why a five for me? Not the plot twists (there are none), not the sophisticated writing style that makes you think (it ain’t that). Brinley (& her dumb name) and Annalise are just so open and cute and don’t overthink their little romps and I will read it again. Reading again makes it a 5 for me.

Amazing! Five stars, no notes. I don't have much to say because this novel was, simply put, incredible. Go read it!

This rather dumb premise was executed SO very well. This novel was FUN in a way you don't often find. No dumb or annoying tropes to be found in these pages. Zero angst or issues or miscommunication annoyances. Hilarious from the start to finish.

Consent! Communication! Care and affection! A hilarious grandma! Obviously incredibly sexy. I truly did not expect to enjoy this novel anywhere near as much as I did.

I would go on and actually explain why this novel was so good but it would delay you from going and starting to read it.

There is a syllabus.

I found this book so interesting at the beginning but towards the end it got repetitive.

Annalise is the last one to find out that she might be queer. After a failed date that started under weird circumstances, she met Brinley. Brinley is your perfect proud, and out lesbian. Brinley offers some interesting help to Annalise, how to be with women.

This book premise was good, but I guess there was space for more development of the MCs relationship considering that both were falling for each other.

The Best Book I've Read All Year

★★★★★ 5 Stars ★★★★★
I don't even have words. This was the cutest (and the most smuttiest) book I've read all year long. It was way more in detail than I thought it would be but holy cow, I loved it! I was not expecting the relationship to be that freaking adorable, I was over here giggling and blushing. This one is a must for my permanent collection. 💗😍

The lack of self respect in this book it's not for the weak.

If ever a woman shows up at my door saying that she was being fuc*ed by another woman so good she almost was cum*ng but someone interrupted them ,so she was turned on by another woman and she wanted me to finish the job.We both are gonna show up at news.Im gonna go criminal, she will disappear faster than the submarine

I need my women to be disgusted by the thought of touching someone who's not me

I love the premise of this book. It was so hot and very distracting to listen to while at work lol. I had quite a few laughs with this one as well. Annalise’s grandmother is hilarious so is her best friend. Brinley can’t help, but start to fall for Annalise and that scares her a bit. Lori Prince narrated this story and she was excellent as always. This one should be on everyone’s TBR list.

Just looking at the cover of Erica Lee’s latest book, A Lesbian’s Guide to Women, you know it’s going to be a wild ride. And trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Annalise hasn’t had any reason to question her sexuality until her grandmother signs her up to a women’s hook-up sight, and although slightly irritated, she agrees to go along for the ride. After a failed first attempt, she is left chatting with the sexy bartender, Brinley, who offers to teach her everything she needs to know to have a successful hook-up on the app. She also agrees to take it slow, which is perfect for Annalise.
With a no-strings agreement in place and a gruelling schedule, Brinley begins to teach Annalise how to be with a lesbian, but somewhere along the path, the line gets blurred. Brinley gets introduced to Annalise’s Grandma and best friend, and Annalise can’t get Brinley out of her head. Even as they both struggle to stick to the terms of their agreement, it is clear they both have feelings and have moved out of the 'just friends' having sex category.

There are so many amazing things about A Lesbian’s Guide to Women, and I’m pretty certain most will agree the number one spot goes to the grandma. She is a classic, with the greatest lines in the book. There is also a lot of great sex, but also really sweet and tender moments between the MCs. The vibe is fun and easy, and this is a definite recommendation from me!

4.25 out 5 stars

This is a delightful and lighthearted romance with a massive dash of spice that had me silently exclaiming "Jesus H. Christ" on numerous instances—I'm not exaggerating, I swear!

The story of "A Lesbian's Guide to Women" revolves around Annalise Finch and Brinley Adams, two women who meet at a bar after Annalise's first attempt at hooking up with a woman doesn't go as planned. Brinley, a lesbian, offers her assistance by creating a "Sapphic Sex Syllabus" to teach Annalise the art of being a woman's lover. From that point forward, a combination of humor and sensuality takes center stage!

I was hooked from the very first page! The premise of the story intrigued me, and the side-splitting wit and humor of Annalise's grandmother and her best friend, Nathalie, added so much to the entertainment factor. Also, the chemistry between Annalise and Brinley is undeniably off the charts—making their connection increasingly intense and compelling as the plot progresses. Their intimate scenes are also filled with so much subconscious pining that I thought positively adds charm to the story.

This book is really freaking awesome! I DO RECOMMEND giving it a read if you haven't already!

Funny, entertaining, light and sweet. I feel like this is a low-key good set of instructions for people wanting to date women and unsure of what they need to know. Absolutely amazing that there is a proper syllabus in the first part of the book to this end. Another really solid read from Erica Lee!

What a fantastic book! Lori brings the book to life with her narration. I am truly in awe of how incredibly entertaining she is and how much effort she clearly puts into her performance. I honestly didn't want it to end.

Erica has written a truly remarkable book. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline; it was well-conceived and engaging throughout. The developing relationship between Annalise and Brinley is exquisitely crafted.

I am an admirer of the "Friends with Benefits To Lovers" trope, and this book does not disappoint. It is a delightful blend of steamy romance, heartwarming sweetness, and plenty of laughter, all wrapped up in one fantastic read.

I would be remiss if I did not mention a pivotal aspect of the book that had me in stitches - Annalise's Grandma. She is one dirty-minded, meddling, and hilarious lady. She was genuinely one of my favourite aspects of this book. From setting Annalise up on a lesbian dating app - even though Annalise identifies as 'straight' - to the things she says, e.g., 'The only way to get the stick out of your ass is by putting something else in it' and 'Dickey' to name a few, She is indeed a remarkable character, and I would have been fortunate to have a grandmother like her.

This is an excellent book that is worth reading or listening to. I highly recommend it to everyone. It is a truly remarkable book, so go and download it today and enjoy.

YES, YES, AND MORE YES!

In my opinion her best work so far. (Not to discredit any of her other work) this book has it all. Tons of steamy scenes, tender moments, and lots of laughs. Somhow she has managed to marry my three favourite tropes into one: Fake girlfriend, Teacher, and Coming out. The best part is... Well, you'll have to read it to find out, no spoilers from me. DNF. Throwing in the towel at 42%. I tried. I really did but I just can’t. It’s too early in the year to suffer like this. This book has a lot of 🌶️ and it’s good. Like, yes! However the scaffolding that is holding up all this sex is weak, haphazard and makes little sense. Let’s start with the Grandma. I missed the memo on obnoxious sex starved old ladies that disregard boundaries and interfere with the lives of others as best comedy. This is the 2nd book I’ve read in the last month that has this type of character and why? Also what personality does Annalise even have besides being hot (and objectified regularly by her “straight” bff) and being an overthinker. Though that last bit is only lip service cause she does very little thinking while being a pillow princess. And it’s so easy I guess cause she’s so hot and every rando lesbian wants to go down her. Meanwhile, she’s knuckles deep and ponders, “Am I gay?” . AND throughout this her lesbian guru teacher is “guiding” (where was that guide when I was 22!?) her with hands on instruction and is in full denial, they are just friends. I’ve struggled with most of Erica Lee’s stuff but I think I’m officially done now.

I had to ruminate on this one for a bit. On the one bad you get a pretty easy read with spice and little plot. You’re not gonna be surprised by the outcome and there aren’t any major twists. If you’re looking for an erotic lite type gook, this might be for you. There were a few reasons I marked it down though.

1) I had a hard time feeling the transition from bed buddies to something more. Maybe it’s because they acted like friends with benefits for all of a week before they started acting like they were dating. It might also be because it was simply just more being told than being shown. The pair getting to know one another outside of sex was never really shown on the page either.

2) I almost quit this one early on because it’s set up as such that the one main is told she’s not straight by her grandmother. Well meaning or not, no one has the right to do this to anyone.

3) another factor that I found highly off putting was that the author brags about her other books within the story multiple times. You have a reader base, they’re already invested, I actively cringed when I read this.
