America’s quilter, Jenny Doan, shows how to stitch a legacy for every stage of life. Quilters often use the milestones of our lives to bless others with a gift from the heart that is made with their own hands. The number of occasions that mark these passages are virtually endless and occur throughout our lives. We look up and once again see the opportunity to create something new to pass on to a friend, a loved one, or ourselves. Whether it be for a new addition to the family, a graduation, a celebration of love, warming a new home, or capturing the memory of someone who has passed, a quilt or quilting project stitched with love is the perfect way to show the people you’re closest to that you’re thinking about them during this transitional time. Within these pages, you’ll find some of Jenny Doan’s favorite quilt ideas for the important milestones of life. Each project has a pattern with detailed instructions so you can make it yourself! No doubt your loved ones will also enjoy receiving these as gifts in the near future. Starting today, make some powerful memories and celebrate your milestones! Life Stages Through multiple patterns and stories for each stop along the way, Quilting Through Life gives you all the tools you need to stitch a legacy of love.
This book was donated to my local library by my mom's quilt guild after her passing. I really enjoyed Jenny's stories and her thoughts on different parts of life. I honestly didn't really pay much attention to the patterns in the book as the stories were more important to me.
MSQC came to me rather serendipitously about 4 years ago, just before a very hard season in my life. I found healing and peace in the joy of creating something beautiful and Jenny's personality and teaching has so much to do with that.
I read Jenny's last book "How to Stitch an American Dream" and I find myself returning to it again and again, inspired and encouraged to hear stories of overcoming life's hardships and finding joy in every day. It's a choice and it's one we have the ability to make.
This book feels like a great addition to Jenny's memoir and the patterns are just an added bonus for me. I love the history of Missouri Star and though we believe different things, I respect Jenny so much for her passion to find the good in every day and teaching others to do the same. The world could use much more of that these days.
Jenny Doan, founder of Missouri Star Quilt Company, shares her interesting story along with patterns for quilts and instructions on how to make them. Jenny is known for her informative videos which feature simplified methods that produce the same results as the old fashioned way of doing things. She focuses on making quilts as a way to commorate life's special events - weddings, births, graduations, and even sickness and deaths. Jenny encourages everyone to be creative in their own way. She admits to making plenty of her own mistakes along the way providing quilts, patterns and stories to inspire us.
Now I need to go and visit Missouri Star in Missouri and see the culmination of this story from her transition to a Californian to a small town in Missouri and I loved the family stories of her children and her miracle babies. Plus the stages of life and her patterns. A winner.
I love everything about this book. JENNY and her family are absolutely amazing!! I always watch her videos and order from Missouri Star Quilting from time to time, especially when I need a new project.
