Dax
I’ve never been a man who wants for anything.
I’ve grown up in the mafia, alongside my cousin and lived life each day as it comes.
But when my world turns upside down at the disappearance of my family, someone else takes their place.
And I’ve not been able to leave her alone since.
I’ve stalked her and enticed her and I’ve finally got my little Birdie in my clutches.
She’ll try to fly away.
But I’m clipping her wings.
And I’ll be damned if I let her out of my sight.

Rori
I’ve been on the run for two years. Running from my past. Running from my pain.
And I’ve done well so far not to be caught.
Only now I’ve found myself in the hands of a new threat.
He’s dangerous, mysterious and the nephew of one of the most notorious mafia leaders.
Dax Rhivers is everything a girl would want.
But I’m not every girl. And now I’m on the run from something else entirely.
Dax wants me and as much as I might want him, I’m here for a reason.
To distract and betray him.
And I’m not sure I’ll come out of that alive.

Oh Dax. You absolutely beautiful man, full of care and protection and damn right swoony.
Rori made my heart hurt. But boy these two together were just everything. Their banter, the chemistry and tension jumped off the page. King and Theo still made me laugh. I loved being back in this world. But I need more and need it ASAP please Ellie 🖤

I am utterly obsessed with Dax and Rori.

The character progression of Rori throughout this book was beautiful. From book 1 you see her as this strong powerful woman, and you assume that strong people have always been strong. So to see where she started to where she finished was beautiful.

I loved Dax in this book, he was so driven and passionate and caring. We saw a whole different side to him that was totally unexpected and I loved it.

The plot twist at the end of this book literally had me screaming, it was nothing I could’ve predicted and I am so shooketh to read more of this series!

The way i adoreee this book! Dax and Rori surprised me in many ways and it was the best reading experience 🤍 If you read Ellie's debut novel, 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫, you already met Dax and Rori! But make no mistake, there is a lot about their story you don't know yet...

𝑰’𝒎 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒖𝒑. 𝑵𝒐𝒕 𝒏𝒐𝒘, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓. 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰’𝒎 𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒈𝒐𝒅𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒏 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒉, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒊𝒕.

I went into this book with certain expectations based on book 1 but it was so much different than I expected! Dax and Rori were everything. I can't tell you how much I love Rori, she is such a strong woman. Her backstory was heartbreaking. And Dax, ahhhh! So attentive and caring you would never guess what a dirty mouth he has. And the spicy scenes were just OH MY GOD 🫠 i simply loved Dax and Rori and their beautiful story.

𝑰𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒊𝒓𝒍’𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝒓𝒖𝒏, 𝑰’𝒎 𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝒇𝒖𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒔𝒆. 𝑬𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒈𝒐𝒅𝒅𝒂𝒎𝒏 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆.

At last, i have to mention Ellie's writing. 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫 was amazing debut novel but this book was even better imo. Ending felt a bit rushed but the story itself was intriguing, well paced, with really amazing characters arcs and twists! Seeing Ellie grow as an author makes me so happy and proud 🤍 I can't wait to read more of your books, Els!

4.5⭐️ Eeeek Dax and Rori’s story is finally here! I had been (im)patiently waiting since I finished Prisoner. They were already a couple in book one, so I was very intrigued to find out how they met and how their relationship progressed. My excitement for them was through the roof and they did not disappoint. A strangers to lovers, dark mafia romance with a possessive hero and resilient heroine? Say no more.

Nephew of one of the most notorious mafia leaders, Dax had known cruelty and danger growing up in the First District. When his family disappeared, his sole purpose was to get them back. At all costs. However, his attention was diverted once he laid eyes on the silver-haired beauty.

Rori managed to escape the clutches of her abusive foster family. Until she crossed paths with Dax, she was on the run living in the streets for two years. She finally found some normality and the last thing she expected was to be on Carlo’s radar. He knew where she came from and took advantage of that information. In exchange for shelter and safety, she was asked to distract Dax from finding his cousin.

Els created a tale of soulmates, secrets and heart-wrenching love. Rori’s journey was laden with heartache, betrayal and manipulation. Vulnerable at times, but definitely resilient and intelligent. She came a long way from being a timid birdie to a feisty swan. Dax played a huge role in her growth, helped rebuild her confidence and teach her self-defence. He was protective, kind and understanding.

While they hit it off from the start, I loved how he gave her time and space to come to her own. Their emotional and physical connection were incredible. Of course, this book was packed with super spicy scenes. Overall, I highly recommend Saviour. It was amazing, devastating, heartbreaking and beautiful all at once. The cliffhanger at the end of the book skyrocketed my expectation for book three.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY TO SAVIOUR! I feel so grateful to have been on the ARC team for Prisoner and now Saviour. Ell, you are so talented and I think I speak on behalf of the whole of booksta when I say I am so proud of you. 2 AMAZING BOOKS OUT GIRLY !!!! being friends w/ you for years on here and seeing how much you’ve grown is amazing.

•••••••

“I had all intents and purposes to be your saviour. But instead, you saved me.”

Saviour is Book #2 in the Kings of the First District series, it can be read as a stand-alone but I reallllllly recommend you read them in order to make sense and fully see all of the characters grow.

I didn’t think that I could love anyone as much as King + Theo, but at the same time, as soon as we met Dax + Rori in book one, I knew they had something special. Dax being extremely loyal and kind and Rori being an absolute badass. It was crazy to see how much their characters developed from the future in Prisoner to seeing their past and how they started in Saviour. Rori specifically started so much differently, overcoming her trauma and although she always had in her to be fierce, brave and elegant, Dax helped unravel this side of her. They truly bought out the best in eachother, Ell I salute you because your character development skills are insane.

Saviour has a bit of everything, it’s dark romance, betrayals, lust, tension and drama - and the spicy scenes were 👌🥵

This book is perfect for those of you who like:

🖤 he falls first
🖤 mafia men
🖤 forced proximity
🖤 friends to lovers
🖤 touch her/him + you die
& so much more!!!!

Also, I am SO excited for book three and now knowing who it’s about 👀 you do NOT want to miss out on this !!!!

⚠️ Make sure you check out TWs before reading.

I binged these two books! Loved them both! Chronologically Saviour takes place before Prisoner but personally, I think it should be read as published. It really helps to show the character development of Rori who in book 1, we see as a really strong character so it was a great addition to see her as just another human who has had it tough. Her backstory too... oh my word. So well-written and developed. I love that for Ellie's second book she didn't shy away from writing the details of the SA scenes and I hate when these a brushed over, it makes me feel like it was just added to give the character trauma. I would love to see some longer books in the future (these both came in just under 300 pages I think.) Dax, you sweetheart! I love this man. The ending!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!! Definitely has me eager for book 3, makes me wonder though, the girl who warned King could this be Bonnie? I can't remember how far along she was before she was 'murdered' or maybe Carlo kept her around until she gave birth then killed her? I don't know but I'm excited to find out.
Spice was great, chapter 25 loved it. Now that we have had our intro books to the main people, I hope the next few books have a bit more spice as obviously the MCs didn't know each other at the start so makes sense that they aren't doing stuff for the first part of the book.

4/5 for plot and spice, excited to see more of Ellie's work! <3

Dax and Rori's story came at me with a gut punch and damn I wouldn't have had it any other way! These two were one of my most anticipated couples and they were everything and more 👏🏼😍 Their story had me melting into a puddle, swooning so hard, feeling all the FEELS, and pretty much everything in between!

Rori has had a really tough life and gosh did that break my heart 💔🥺 Life has definitely tried to break her spirit but she always kept going just proving how much of a badass 👑 she is because of that alone. And little did she know after deciding to swim in a lake, everything was going to change for her!

When Dax sees Rori for the first time, he is drawn to her and wants to protect and care for her instantly, which warmed my heart! 🥰 He is such a sweetheart while of course has his moments of possessiveness, dominance and gaah the things he says, oof! 🤭👌🏽

Dax and Rori have incredible chemistry that very much shows, they're hotness overload with some explosive-worthy steam 🔥, sweet like honey and absolutely perfect for each other! Alsoo like her taking control and being the dominant one in times was just 🤌🏼💋

I adore how Dax teaches Rori to defend herself and by doing that giving her the ability of never having to feel powerless again while also promising to always be there for her no matter what, through hellfire and all 🥹🖤

Saviour is truly a beautiful journey of not only epic love and raw passion but also survival, friendships and growth. It's about two people who are meant to be, fighting their way to the happy ever after they deserve and Ellie delivered all of it with PERFECTION!

Saviour is the second book in the Kings Of The First District series. The first book being Prisoner which was released September last year. For anyone who hasn’t read it needs to!

Prisoner gripped my heart last year and I’ve probably re-read it a hundred times since, waiting impatiently for Saviour to be born! Saviour follows Dax and Rori (who we see in prisoner where they are already a couple) Saviour is their story, how they met and how they fought the odds to be together. I knew I’d love Rori from the scenes she has in Prisoner, she is a feisty power house of a female and perfect for Dax. Their love story will tear at your heartstrings. I just loved them!

This book is packed full of super hot spicy scenes that I lived for! their chemistry is fire and the spice even hotter.

And our girl Ellie packs the bestest cliffhanger right at the end of the book that leaves us needing the next book, why do I read these so early when now I have to wait so long for book 3

If this review hasn’t told you, I highly recommend Saviour (and Prisoner)

I loved it. It was one of them books that you don’t even know or look how far you are in or what page or how many minutes and that’s always a yes to me for a really good read. I love how Dax and Rori are individually and together. They are characters you can’t help but love.

What a masterpiece of a second book this is! 🥹

If you love the following then you will love this book:

🖤 Dark Mafia Romance
🖤 Protective alpha male vibes 🤤
🖤 Extra spice and everything nice 🌶️🌶️
🖤 Dominance (both male & female)
🖤 Strangers to friends to lovers

Ellie’s writing is just phenomenal. Her plot lines are fantastic and her couples are the best 😌🫶🏻 This book follows Rori and Dax from the time they meet and it was just such a journey for them both, Ellie wrote them perfectly … they were everything I hoped them to be.

You can read this on it’s own but I would highly recommend Ellie’s first book in the series, Prisoner to get the ultimate experience with these characters and their plot lines/plot twists that they face. 💖

🌶️🌶️

This is book 2 in the Kings of the First District series and follows the story of Dax and Rori.

Wow… this was such an epic and emotional read. So many trigger warnings but my goodness, did they work for the story.

Rori is such a broken, strong woman and has been on the run for years. Her past was as traumatic as it can get but she remained strong and kept to herself. She runs into Dax by accident and they have a very unconventional meeting.

This book was every bit dark, hot, heavy, possessive, emotional and intriguing!

I loved everything about this book. My only words are, everyone needs this book!

Oh my goodness! 🔥
Rori & Dax 🫶
I absolutely loved how enamoured Dax was with this girl.
Talk about love at first sight.
My favourite thing is how he built Rori back up and made her strong and realise this for herself, taking the time with her going at her pace.
I think the way this was written going through their timeline then linking it in with what we already know from prisoner is exceptional, lovely way of linking these books and showing us their story.
Rori & Dax are just an absolute love story.
But what the Hell! Was that ending !
And who the F is D Rhivers??
Absolute fire 🔥
Ellie’s books are an absolute must read!!

Dax and Rori are end goals.

Rori has a back story that surprised me with how tragic it was, but she never let this determine her future, and she didn't become the weak woman that many people expected her to be. She is one bad ass woman, and she does not let anyone bulldozer her, especially when she comes into her own.

Dax is absolutely besotted with Rori, and he will kiss the floor she walks on. I will forever remember one bedroom scene, and it surprised me but fitted in so well! Dax tries to take control outside the bedroom but gives it all up when it's just the two of them.

The ending added such a twist, and I can not wait for the next book!

I finished this incredible book last night and am still trying to find the words to explain how bloody good it was!

I absolutely loved Prisoner so was buzzing and honoured to receive an arc for Saviour 🤩

Dad and Rori’s story was EVERYTHING I wanted it to be and MORE😍

I already loved them both after Prisoner but getting to know them and their back stories took it to a whole new level. Rori is a fierce and fiery boss FMC and Dax is just EVERYTHING❤️‍🔥

The steam, the passion, I loved it all! The Kings of the First District never disappoint!

I laughed, I cried, this book is a real rollercoaster and holy sh*t at that cliffhanger!!! I already can’t wait to read book 3 👀😍

Well, I flew through this one. I will be honest and I kinda forgot a few things since reading Prisoner, but I'm certain this actually worked to my advantage. This book is set before Prisoner so I was curious how this was going to work.

But it worked, and worked good!! I didn't take much to the characters in the first one but this one they had my heart! I adored the whole concept of it. I did find the timeline jumps a bit big for me but then again I'm used to reading books more on a like a continuous plot over a year or less.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC. I read and LOVED Prisoner, and the second book in the series didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed reading about Dax and Birdie and learning more about these characters. While the first book is second-chance enemies-to-lovers, this is swoon-worthy Insta-love. This book had me hooked and even made me cry. I can’t wait for the next book!

Wow just wow. I've been counting down to read this since I read Prisoner and this didn't disappoint.

It's heartbreaking, sexy AF and beautiful. A different angle on life in the Districts but from Dax and Rori's perspective and King (😍) oh I've missed him.

That epilogue has left me wanting more and I can't wait, like seriously cannot wait.

Thank you so much to Ellie for the e-arc of this AMAZING second book. Oh how I couldn't wait to get back into this world.

This novel was beautifully written, with a story drawing you in from the first word.

"Do your worst, Birdie."

I ADORE Dax and Rori and their relationship is just *PERFECT*. I felt so many emotions reading this book, from hatred and anger to sadness and heartbreak. Also, the smut!? I was red in the face reading it in public - it was HOT!

I can't even properly format my thoughts of this novel it was just so good. This book is dark, twisted and not for the faint hearted. But, the love between Dax and Rori was just so pure that it was perfection.

Firstly I want to say how impressed I am with how much Ellie Kent’s writing has improved since her first book. Not that the writing was bad in the first book but I definitely think the words flowed better in this one. Also the girl knows how to write a spicy scene! I mean wow oh wow when Rori took charge it was top level!

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, The Prisoner. This was Ellie Kent’s debut book and I thought the concept was so unique and imaginative I was hooked throughout! Personally for me I didn’t find The Saviour quite as captivating.

I found both the main characters, Dax and Rori, didn’t have as much depth compared to Theo and King, and I didn’t feel like the story had anything unique to it, that I hadn’t read before. I don’t think it helped that it was insta love which I’m not a fan of. After reading the book I feel like I don’t know much about Dax beyond his instant desire for Rori and his love of boxing. Rori had a little bit more depth to her and I found it interesting getting to read her backstory. (Please note this is a dark book and one scene made me feel very uncomfortable.) There were also big time jumps as the storyline caught up with that of The Prisoner and as a result I felt like young Rori and older Rori had very different personalities. And I understand people change especially with her background but because the change took place off page I didn’t feel like the two versions of her quite matched up.

I will say I did enjoy the ending when the action picked up and I was not expecting the cliffhanger so I am intrigued for the next book!
