I did not order the extra slice of Armageddon to go with my midlife crisis. Apparently , if you’re an Immortal, it comes free of charge. I have until sundown tomorrow to get to a parallel plane of existence, save my family, and kick bad-guy butt all before the world ends. Impossible, right? Not according to my posse of whackado buddies. They like to remind me that nothing is impossible as long as I believe. Well, I’m about to be the mother of all believers. Armed with nothing but a folder titled ‘Sh*t Pile’ and backed by a few fabulous drag queens, a toothpick-chewing nutjob, a sweetheart with a penchant for sharing disgusting facts, and an ice queen who doesn’t play nice with others, we have our work cut out for us. Time is not on my side, and I am having one hell of a midlife crisis.
Robyn writes because the people inside her head won’t leave her alone until she gives them life on paper. Her addictions include shoes (the expensive kind), Coke with extra ice in a styrofoam cup, and bejeweled reading glasses. A former professional actress, she now lives in the south with her family and too many animals to count. Writing gives her a chance to have a job where working in her P.J.’s is acceptable. I enjoy a lot of the characters, but I'm sick of getting half books with a whole lot of repetition and review of previous stories that ends with a cliffhanger. Unfortunately for this cliffhanger scenario could be seen coming from a mile away and it made the MC look really dumb in my eyes. I'm not sure if I'm going to bother getting the next book.
3.75 stars (Audible) this one was new to me. After re-listening to the series, I was pleased to see another book released end of '23. I will say, however, that I'm with Daisy + just want the constant battles to end for a while.
It’s a Hell of a Midlife Good to the Last Death, Book 10
I Picked Up This Book Because: Continue the series.
Media Type: Audiobook Source: Hoopla via HC Public Library Dates Read: 6/10/24 - 6/11/24 Rating: 4 Stars Narrator(s): Jessica Almasy
The Characters:
Daisy: Gideon: The rest of the supernatural crew
The Story: I’ve missed Daisy and the crew. It’s been so long since I’ve read a book in this series that I had a bit of a time figuring out what was happening, but it wasn’t too long before I was back on track. I’m still shocked at the villain unveiling and his trickery. Who would have thought he was actually smart. I wish I could dive straight into the next book but alas I must wait for the library to have it available. I am beyond relieved they were able to save Gideon and the others. I’m not sure what Daisy would do without them.
I'm so over these half books. So I was very over them already but unfortunately when I was in book two and the story line hadn't become so incredibly ridiculously dumb I purchased all the books and the one that would be coming in December 2023. Well the book is here and same old low brow dumb humor and almost a whole story goes by and then in the last you know 8 minutes just like every time a huge big old stupid plot twist so that way the book doesn't actually end and it is ridiculous like it always is so it took a book that could have been a 2.5 and in one or two spots of three back down to a one so not going to read another one of these so over it and this ridiculous stupid authors approach. Please write a freaking book from start to finish and actually have it be the length of a book and then also have the book conclude with an ending The approach is aggravating and annoying and I'm not putting any more money towards this waste of time.
Just when I thought this was the last book of the series, she lobbed it up for an 11th book! Am I mad? Heck no! Just bummed I have to wait for it to come out.
Robyn Peterman has once again taken midlife, lit it on fire, tossed it into a parallel dimension, and dared us not to enjoy the chaos. It’s a Hell of a Midlife is exactly what happens when the universe decides your crisis needs an upgrade and throws in a side of Armageddon for free.
Our heroine did not order the extra slice of apocalypse, but apparently immortality comes with surprise coupons. She has until sundown tomorrow to hop into a parallel plane, save her family, and kick villainous butt — all before the world ends. Totally impossible… unless you’re surrounded by a posse of whackado buddies who insist that believing makes anything possible. Fine. She’ll be the mother of all believers.
Armed with nothing but a folder literally titled “Sh*t Pile,” she charges into the madness backed by fabulous drag queens, a toothpick‑chewing lunatic, a sweetheart who shares facts no one ever wanted to know, and an ice queen who could freeze the sun. Time is not on her side, her patience is nonexistent, and her midlife crisis has officially gone nuclear.
This installment is fast, funny, chaotic, and packed with heart — everything this series does best. The stakes are massive, the humor is sharp, and the emotional beats land right where they should. Peterman continues to deliver supernatural midlife mayhem with style, swagger, and a whole lot of soul.
I’m having one hell of a time right along with her.
I’ve reread this one, and it’s just as wildly entertaining the second time.
Daisy has her hands full. At the moment she’s not getting much baby time. Hopefully things will even out somewhat and they can have a semi normal life-but I doubt it! The drama is intense and so is the comedy. Girl, you should be writing scripts.
3⭐️ for her badassery, Tory too… and all the over the top chaotic-ness (old ladies literally biting off a bad guys ass) that this series keeps bringing.
Daisy and crew never fail to deliver. This is a fast-paced book filled with clever dialogue and quick thinking. Daisy is very determined to bring Gideon home from the parrel plane. She just needs to find the spell. This means outsmarting Mickey Muggles which proves to be more of a challenge – especially when they get the location of the dragon tail wrong! Looking forward to the next book.
Because failure is not an option for Daisy, the Angel of Mercy and Death Counselor. In a parallel plane created by a disgusting mullet headed, crotch grabbing, magic stealing, beer bellied, half winged sharp toothed, small tailed ugly being Nephilum-dragon-wannabe named Mickie Muggles are some of Daisy’s family trapped and quickly dying if she doesn’t hurry to save them. But she’s got loyal friends and family with all the power in the universe on her side.
“‘Let me get this straight,’ I said, pacing the kitchen to keep my thoughts in order. ‘Dimple creates bad luck. Jolly Sue makes people act on their worst impulses and Lura Belle makes people see the worst in themselves?’”
Dimple, Jolly Sue, and Lura Belle are a trio on Daisy’s side and they will use their “gifts” to take down the dragon. In fact, they’ll take a page from Candy’s book and eat the enemy, if necessary.
This book had a great ending that is actually not an ending, because we are left needing more, but at least Daisy’s friends and family are safe for the moment… well, most of them. There are actually a few very important people unaccounted for and Daisy will tear through Heaven and hell to find them and bring them back home. Next time Daisy isn’t holding back. The dragon will pay.
Next is book 11 “A Leaner Meaner Midlife”, but we have to wait until next year, March 18, 2024 to find out how Daisy wins again.
Robyn, you are a genius writer. It was difficult for me to put this book down. It wasn’t until 4:30am and 48% through the read that I finally forced myself to go to bed. I stayed awake the second night until 7:30am to finish. I had to know what happened!
Since the next book in this Midlife series hasn’t been released yet, I am going to read a book by JB Lynn that was released only a couple of weeks ago on November 9th - “The Hitwoman and the Flash Mob”.
Daisy and the crew are back, and the odds are higher than ever. The collector has taken Gideon and Gabe into his hoard on an alternate plain of existence. This leaves Daisy and the crew racing against the clock to free those in the hoard before their time runs out.
But an epic smack down with the collector leaves Daisy down one more ally. The group has no choice but to pull in three of the areas most disliked senior citizens to try and translate the code and get the key to travel onto the other plain.
As Daisy and her crew work to save their loved ones, she gains new insight to the three sour old women, and realizes that even they may not be beyond redemption. She will certainly need their help for their rescue to succeed.
I love the wild and absolutely crazy group that Daisy has gathered around her. With each passing book I love their dynamics even more. While the group of extremely powerful immortals certainly has their work cut out for them, you just know they'll come through on top with all of them fighting together!
Keep em coming, I don't want off this particular mid life roller coaster!
If you have been following the series as I have, and I do recommend you do, you will know by now the story of Daisy and posse. She is married to the hunky Grim Reaper Gideon, has a wonderful infant daughter Alana Catherine, and a gang of certifiable immortal family and crazy friends. In this edition of Good to the Last Death, Daisy is trying to rescue her husband and other immortals from the evil dragon and make everything right among the immortals. Easier said than done. The guy that she thought was an innocent bystander, wasn’t and the whole snowball started unraveling from there (again). It’s not easy to be Middle-aged, but it’s much harder to do it when you are the Angel of Mercy. Enough said. The series keeps getting better and better. I am already anticipating the next in the series.
Jessica Almasy the narrator does a wonderful job doing all the voices of the characters in this women's paranormal midlife series. Daisy is working on getting her baby back home and she has until sundown tomorrow to get to a parallel plane of existence, save her family, and kick bad-guy butt all before the world ends with her posse of whackado buddies. They like to remind me that nothing is impossible as long as I believe. Well, I’m about to be the mother of all believers. Armed with nothing but a folder titled ‘Sh*t Pile’ and backed by a few fabulous drag queens, a toothpick-chewing nutjob, a sweetheart with a penchant for sharing disgusting facts, and an ice queen who doesn’t play nice with others. I was laughing all through this story.
Poor Daisy the minute she gave birth she has been battling evil and hasn't had time with her baby. One evil has come to a end in this book but another is on going and Can look like others (they need to change the password didn't she shout it when she was on fire?)
This series is action packed and as weird as the quiz is it is funny. Looks like the four horsemen is becoming family add on's. So far the only focus love story is Daisy and Gideon, but missy did get back together with Heather but it was behind doors, looks like Gabe and Tory who are lost loves might get a story (or series of there own) and Prue and Zander? This series only focuses is Daisy and Gideon so far as we follow with there POV well Daisys. A interesting series.
I do like Daisy and her crazy circle of friends. The one thing that is kind of irritating is that everyone, when they get upset and think they have to throw a tantrum they want to destroy something. Sometimes I feel like I’m reading about a bunch of toddlers. You think just for once they could actually act like adults and not blow craters in the yard, blow up the house, or other things that they feel like doing. I do like how dizzy ended up getting this spell so that they could go rescue Gideon and the others in that parallel universe. There were some other crazies that were introduced into this book that assisted Daisy and her other friends to help rescue Gideon and the others.
I love the way Robyn’s brain works. Only she could come up with something so wacky and fun. This is technically a short story in the series. I wish it didn’t end when it did but I know there will be more from Daisy’s adventures and chaotic life. This installment focuses on the group trying to figure out how to rescue Gideon, Gabe, and a dead Zadkiel along with a few others. I was shocked in this book that Tim actually cooked something that didn’t instantly make anyone who ate it sick. We meet a few new characters in this story. And I think things are going to be getting even more interesting. I read this book so fast because I just couldn’t put it down. Definitely recommend.
Just when Daisy seems to have defeated her enemy Zakdiel a new enemy appears. Micky Muggles, former police officer definitely has delusions of grandeur. Unfortunately, he has figured out a way to get the power he needs, and he has Gideon and Gabe trapped. Daisy and a few of her friends head off to fight the dragon. This series continues to have everything I look for in a Robyn Peterman book – humor, action, and fantastic characters. I highly recommend this book and series to anyone who enjoys humorous paranormal women’s fiction.
I listened to the audiobook. Narrator Jessica Almasy is amazing. I highly recommend this version.
When I started this series, I didn't know if I would read the next book. As of.now I'm starting on number ten and just bought number 14. There is another series I loved but I got up to book number 34 and the author had passed away and no one to ghost write the rest of the series and answer questions that were left unanswered that the author had kept promising that the next book would answer.half of them. I told myself that if the book wasn't completed, I would not get the next book. Well I lied to myself,as I got hooked on Robin. THANK YOU.
Another crazy ride with Daisy and her crew of misfits! I really enjoy this series so far and expect to keep right on enjoying it! Daisy is in a tough spot, and has to figure out how to save Gideon, Gabe, and the others the Collector has hoarded away. Enter three old ladies with definite bad juju, but with the skills Daisy needs to figure things out. (The senior citizen burn battle is epic!)
Will Daisy manage to rescue her loved ones in time? Will she manage to find something good about the Karens? Will she find horse poop in her bedroom? Read to find out!
I do not know how this author comes up with these amazing stories. I do know that this book was an unputdownable story. Daisey and the mashup group in this adventure, in her midlife makes for another fantastic story, in my favorite series! This was a crazy fun read from start to finish, I Absolutely Loved It!!! No Spoilers or blurb repeats, just read it! I Highly Recommend as a Great PWF Read! I received an ARC and I am Leaving this Totally Honest Review because I Choose to and think that this story is GREAT!!!
Another wild ride. Full of vulgar insults, crazy antics and just the biggest hearts. Daisy just wants a quiet midlife with her friends and family but life has different plans. Her daughter hidden, she is racing the clock to save her man. With the help of some unlikely people she faces down the dragon who is determined to become immortal at the expense of her favorite people. You can’t help but laugh at the over the top craziness as well as be in emotional turmoil while biting your nails as the story progresses. I just love this author!
I flew through this book. It garbed me from beginning to end and I couldn’t put it down until I was finished. The whole crazy crew is here and they are working together to rescue Gideon and others from an alternate plane.
The twist in the end was so killing why do we have to wait for the next book and it is not showing if there will be another one or when will it be out.
There are always lessons to be learned in this series. And I love that. Things aren’t always what they seem to be. There are a few twists and turns. Such a fun read, as always.
I just finished a very serious and intense series, and I needed a palette cleanser. Robyn Peterman always delivers! There are a slew of Shakespearean insults along with a few more gross facts, and… I had plum forgotten I had a weenus and needed to squeeze it! The characters are as lively as ever, and we have a few new ones in our - er, I mean Daisy’s - crew! And there’s lots of everything else we’ve come to expect from this series and this author. As per usual, I can’t wait for the next installment!
I like the characters in this series, but I have some of the same complaints that I did about the last book. I know that the characters are tired and panicked for much of the book, but they make some stupid mistakes. Also, I know that Candy hired Amelia to help take care of the foster kids, but how did she even get the foster kids when she's never ever at home? Few of the characters are ever at home or at their jobs in this series (though they used to be sometimes in earlier books, but not anymore). At least this book had more of an ending than the last one.
I flew through this book. It captured me from beginning to end and I couldn’t put it down until I was finished. The whole crazy crew is here and they are working together to rescue Gideon and others from an alternate plane.
There are always lessons to be learned in this series. And I love that. Things aren’t always what they seem to be. There are a few twists and turns. Such a fun read, as always.
Daisy and her posse of Immortals are back! And it’s time to stop The Collector, and get her family back!
Robyn’s Good to the Last Death series has kept me coming back for more. I enjoy following our mature heroine, Daisy, as she navigates her Midlife Crisis, superglues ghost back together and races against time to save the Grim Reaper, the love of her life. I laughed, gasped and snorted. Once again entertained by Robyn Peterman’s crazy imagination.
