To do so, he sets a plan into motion that will force him to do something he’s avoided for five hundred years. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much of scorched ice. The two books previous got me so excited, I thought the writer would just mess this up. (It has happened to me with other series before) I didn’t have much hope for the third book.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed reading this story.
For me it’s so cute to see how Julian truly controls himself around Quinn. It’s wonderful the whole friendship between vampire, hunters and guardians. P.s, Chris is just so fun.
I took my time with this book due to distractions, but it was worth my time.
Kindle Edition 4 stars The last book in the series. It didn't disappoint. Julian's plan for peace & protection called for the vampires, Hunters & Guardians to work together. There was a truce called for those who wished to join the group & follow the rules. The first rule being, no killing humans & innocents. For those that didn't join & killed anyway, the group would hunt them down & kill them. For those that did join, the group offered them a sense of belonging & protection. The first part of the plan was a meeting in Arizona at the site of the hotel that Quinn burned down. At the meeting Julian & Quinn explained what they wanted to create. At the meeting, they had a few of the vampires that volunteered become their regulators. They would be the enforcers of the rules while the group wasn't around. Once the entire group was established Julian's first order was to hunt down & kill the last members of the Commission. As they were staying at a hotel, a couple of people from the Commission happened to be staying there also. The group killed almost all of them but one got away. Then they went through their rooms to gather intel. Julian read through one man's diary & knew the Commission was close on their tail. The group found the man's home & searched it, bringing Julian possessions from the house to touch. He saw where the rest of the Commission was hiding. The group kill the man & head to the last building of the Commissions. As they approach the building, buried mines begin to blow up killing some of the vampires. They finally breach the door & enter cautiously. Melissa sees the door from her vision & tells them it also will blow up. All except Julian & Quinn hide inside rooms down the hall. Julian places Quinn behind him, tanks the door off its hinges & holds it in front of the two of them as a barrier from the explosion. The explosion is so big & the fire raging that it begins to burn through the door. Just as Julian & Quinn begin to move back, the floor collapses underneath them & plunge them into the underground of the building where members of the Commission are waiting. Quinn is pinned under concrete but manages to free herself. The fire is still raging & she can't find Julian, fearing he's dead. She's attacked by a two members of the Commission but fights them off. Then another member uses his telekinesis & throws concrete at her, the rebar going through her side & pinning her to the floor. She can't get free. Just as another member shoots a stake from a crossbow at Quinn's heart, Julian tackles the man. Quinn manages to move enough so the stake only lands in her shoulder. She manages to free herself again as another woman attacks. Quinn is sucking the life from her when the man with telekinesis throws Quinn back into the raging fire. Julian is furious & heartbroken. One thing for certain, vampires can't survive fire. He yells for her as lye breaks down & can't believe what he's seeing. Quinn is jumping out of the fire, yet she's completely engulfed in flames. Julian removes his shirt to try to dose the flames. Chris & Melissa come to the rescue with the fire extinguishers. Julian realizes the only way Quinn survived the fire was her ability to suck the life from someone. As she was thrown into the fire, she continued to suck the life from the woman. So the flames were burning her as the woman's life was keeping her barely alive. She's burned head to toe but still manages to walk, slowly, outside. The vampires saw her walk out of the fire & now the all take a knee & bow to their savior. Julian wants her to take from him to heal herself but Quinn won't because she is so hurt & needs to take so much to heal herself that she's afraid she'll kill him or anyone who tries. Well after what the vampires just witnessed, they all join hands to collectively give their life force to her. She can't kill all of them together. Quinn is unbelievably touched by the outpouring of love from the group. She heals herself & knows they all are one big family now. The Commission is now dead. The group return to Canada for a while & then travel to other countries to meet with vampires all over the world to continue to spread their peace. The end of the novel Clint & Hawtie get married, Chris & Melissa get married & have a newborn baby boy. Julian & Quinn don't have a ceremony but exchange wedding rings, so the humans know they're taken. They both never dreamed they would love again or ever have a family. But the group has become their family & they couldn't be happier. I really enjoyed the series & liked the ending. Always love my HEA (happily ever afters)!

I feel like it was rushed to end. There was SO MUCH that couldve been done here but it just all got slammed and rushed into this finale. I liked the series but nothing matches the depth, thought, and character building that the capitive series had. She really took her time and poured her heart into the captive series compared to these books. Dont get me wrong they are all really good books and like ive said plenty of times i stray from her books under the pen name brenda davies but anything written under stevens i pay for immediately. Shes worth it. The books are amazing . julian was still his awesome arrogant self that i completely loved.
The ending of this book made it for me. I really wish it did the series justice, but it did not. I really wish I got more of Chris and Melissa's story too. The whole first half of the book was boring and the book in the whole was riddled with errors. Erica....you need a better editor! The first two books the story was there and at the end of the second book I was really wondering how they would stretch it to another book. I love Julian and Quinn, but I couldn't bring myself to give this book 5 or even 4 stars.
Erica Stevens nailed it with her The Fire and Ice Series! Julian and Quinn's journey keep me riveted and drawn in threw out it all. I couldn't put them down! I read the three book series in three days. Now I'm depressed its over. I realy hope Erica finds a way to continue Quinn and Julian's journey, maybe a spin off about their trials of the new leadership they've started. Thank you Erica Stevens for three more incredible books, you are an extremely talented writer! keep it up :)
Wow what a great finale to Julian and Quinns story. This read has everything, death, destruction, pain, loss, twists and turns but there’s so much love too. Again I love the fact all the characters come together and we see all their lives coming together. Great writing, plot and the characters are amazing. Lots of angst, lots of love, some cute banter, expect lots of action and death, but overall a great supernatural series.
OMG! What a book hangover! The conclusion to Julian and Quinn's story. It was a well-written story with plenty of thrills and excitement. Julian may have come into Quinn's life to protect her but they end up saving each other in the end. I think this was the best book of in the Fire and Ice Series. A fantastic read. I highly recommend it!
I love all the characters in this series. And the storylines are great. My only caution would be that the romance scenes are a little more explicit then you might want your seventeen year old to read. However, I would definitely recommend this book and this series.
I love this series, the Kindled series is still my favorite but I enjoyed this one too. Some shocking moments but HEA all around.
While I wish there could have been another spin off series regarding Chris and/or Melissa I still like how it ended. Maybe some day there can be another spin off around Lou.
What an incredible way to wrap up The Fire and Ice series. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and there were several surprising twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. Not only was it action packed, but there were several tender, sentimental moments as well. The ending was absolutely perfect.
Totally enjoyed the last book in the Fire and Ice series. Quinn has come a long way from the beginning with a lot of help coming from Julian. Great characters throughout would happily read more.
I really enjoyed this paranormal vampire series, and it's take on vampires is somewhat unique. There was a bit to much repeated dialogue regarding feelings and about the previous dramas of both lead characters for my taste. I also like a bit more steamy!! I would read more from this author.
Julian and Quinn's story continues with them gathering the vampires together to work together for the first time ever. They all work as a unit( vampires, hunters, and guardians) to bring down the commission. What an amazing series and a deffenit must read.
Wow what a great feel good ending to a Julian and Quinn and Devin and can't forget Cassie and the beginning of peace and all the Adventures ahead of them all. Lol cannot believe Melissa and Chris had a baby lol. Great story and awesome characters
I loved this one. The characters are loveable and the plot got my heart racing except for the ending. I thought the whole fire ordeal lacked it's true potential. Based on the prophecy Quinn was suppose to be the girl on fire but setting a fire was too cliche. I would have written it differently.
I loved every word of this series. Of course I read the Kindred series first and flowed into this one. Its my new favorite of all time. The only issue I had is its over.
I stumbled across this series by accident, and instantly fell in love. Erica Stevens has a way of telling a story that hooks you, leaves you wanting more, and finds you incredibly invested in the lives of the characters.
This was a great ending to the series, however I thought the ending was slightly rushed and a tad bit confusing. Overall, I loved it just like I loved the first two books and will be purchasing (hard copy as i read this on my kindle) to add to my library.
I was a little disappointed in this one, found it a lot slower than the first two and not as gripping. The author ties off all the characters endings nicely, no cliffhangers or loose ends.
Overall enjoyed it, but just wasn’t what I wanted book 3 to be.
Realllyyy slow start. I started and stopped this book a dozen times and finally gave up months later. I really enjoyed the last two books of this series, so this was a huge disappointment for me.
What am awesome end to a series. Couldn't have asked to a better one to close out a spin off series. Definitely a complete series that I will be reading again and again. Happy Reading
It was a good read. However It was missing some key details to warrant a conclusion as far as a trilogy goes. Maybe also Melissa and Chris should have had more screen time.. it felt rushed at the end.
So much action, mystery and adventure! It seems like the perfect ending for the series, but I would bet that Erica can come up with another series to follow, I would buy them all!!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this series. That happy ending had mer smiling even as I write this review. I was a little annoyed with Quinn and her choices in book 2 but this book has shown her growth by far.
