The Wilder Widows #3

The Wilder Widows: Walk on the Wilder Side

Rate this book
The Wilder Widows are heading out for round three! A few near-death scares haven’t stopped the fabulous foursome from continuing their new tradition of a yearly bucket list adventure. With the world as their oyster, they pluck their wishes from the knitting basket one by one and embark on their next journey to fulfill their wildest dreams.

Sylvie, Alice, Doris, and Marge each have lofty dreams this time, and trouble has a way of following them wherever they go. Join them on their next journey filled with laughter, love, and a whole lot of trouble!

The Wilder Widows: Walk on the Wilder Side is the third book in the Wilder Widows series and is meant to be read after the second book.

Please note, the author had no control over what the Wilder Widows said and did, and was only a spectator of their journey as she scrambled to write it down. They can get a bit mouthy at times, so the author apologizes if any of the widows say or do anything to offend you.

Must Read!

This series is laugh out loud entertainment. Unlikely friends formed by widowhood. A few swigs of whiskey and they’re off! The adventures and misadventures are so much fun. Friendship formed out of adversity becomes a thriving lifeline. Do yourself a favor and grab these books!

A Wildly Entertaining Laugh-out-loud Adventure with Four Amazing Women!

Katherine Hastings knows exactly how to hit me right in the feelings and make me laugh out loud—sometimes on the same page. The Wilder Widows series is hands-down some of the most heartwarming, hilarious fiction I’ve ever read. These women, their friendships, and their wildly adventurous escapades had me laughing, tearing up, and occasionally wondering how on earth they survived the chaos. Hastings perfectly captures the power of female friendship while throwing her characters into the most delightfully outrageous situations imaginable.

Walk on the Wilder Side is the third book in Hastings' outrageous series featuring four widows from Wilder Lane who start a yearly tradition of fulfilling bucket list dreams. With each book in the series, the wishes just get wilder, with even more hilarious consequences! I love that Hastings' characters are women "of a certain age", and remind me of my own wild best friends! Four very different personalities and lifestyles do not interfere with the love and affection the Wilder Widows have for each other. Katherine Hastings' characters are examples of women's friendships at their best. And I wish to be just like them as I reach the upcoming milestone birthday this year!

If you love humor, heart, and women who prove life only gets better (and wilder) with age, do yourself a favor and read this series!

Someone reviewed this book poorly, saying it was just like the previous one. Not true! I didn't find that to be true at all, and I very much enjoyed the adventures of the four fast friends in pursuit of a bucket list trip for each of them in turn. Only one of the adventures seemed a little bit predictable near the end, but I have no complaints. About that.

But, oh! As much as I want to recommend this with all my heart, and I do recommend it highly...but only to the stoic person who can put up with a near-endless inner dialog of soppy sentimentality. I've complained about this before and here it is again. A husband is not just a husband--gotta love 'em--he's the greatest husband ever created and so very, very loving and thoughtful and brings her to completeness and she's so very, very, very happy and her life is so wonderful and--

Well, that goes on. On various topics, like friendship, romance, love, spouses, children. I was listening to this on audiobook, and even then I had to skip forward a time or two when one of the ladies went into an endless monologue about how great something was.

What I wouldn't give for an editor.

This series has been a light read and book 3 was a great way to conclude the series.
In book 3, Alice, Marge, Doris and Sylvie set off on their yearly adventure. As usual, "disaster" follows them to each of their adventures (wishes). Though the Wilder Widows adventures take you to phenomenal places, inevitably there is some sort of misadventure involved. Sometimes these misadventures leave you shaking your head and wondering how a group of four "queenagers" could get into such trouble and other times belly laughing!
Though this appears to be the final book in the series, it ends with them writing down and depositing them in the knitting basket!
This series spurred me to tell friends about the storyline at lunch yesterday. We're now going to come up with a catchy name and we put our one friend in charge of adventures!!

I just want to share with everyone just how much I enjoyed this 3 book series, first off, I really hope Katherine Hastings is working on Book 4 because I would really love to keep on enjoy the antics that these 4 women get into. I wish I had them all for friends, or had friends like them. The stories are all very entertaining to say the least, each character has a personality that everyone can relate to, and they are all different, but lovable. The things they get in to, and the way they get out of them either pulls on your heart strings, or really makes you laugh, but one thing is for sure, their loyalty to each other is strong even when they get on each others nerves. I hope you go on their adventures like I did, and what adventures they are!!!!!!

book 3 in the series

Fun adventures, as always. Things go wrong, as always. Marge needs to lighten up on the bullying in the next book and Doris needs to stop wailing. Marge and Doris are becoming caricatures and I didn’t expect that. Sylvie is the glue, the voice of reason, the rational one that reads true in this book. Alice is Alice but less than in the first 2 books. The wishes were outstanding this time. Just need Marge to tone it down. She wasn’t loveable Marge this time and it impacted Doris in a way that reduced Doris to a puddle. Could have been 5 stars if Marge had been a bit nicer.

More adventure!

This 3rd in the series did not disappoint. This one dwelt a lot more on the personalities of each of the widows while on their Wilder Widow adventure. I think the adventures I'm this book were actually favorites of mine...places I, myself, would choose to visit.
So I don't give anything away, that's all I'm going to say except when you get to the last adventure have a box of Kleenex nearby. Most of you will need it.

Fun, fun, fun

I love these books, 4 women that lived on the same street met when they became widows one drunken night they made a pact to help each other live out the dreams they wanted to do but never took the time too. Each year they embark on the 4 adventures, and some have been really wild. Trouble seems to follow them. Marge got home this time with a missing tooth, 2 black eyes and a goose egg on her head.

A great Third book!

I really enjoyed this series. And out of the three books so far, I think this one is her best work. Four widows go on an adventure all over the world. They are great friends now, teasing, laughing and helping each other live a fun life. I do hope there is a fourth book (maybe more) of this series. Hint, hint Ms. Hastings!

A Wild Wilder Widows Ride!

The Wilder Widows series will keep you laughing! The third book is just as good as the first two. I honestly do not want to get to the end when I am reading one. Katherine Hastings knows how to write comedy and adventure. I sure hope one day these are made into a movie.

Good book

This is the 3rd book, in the Wilder Widows series. Doris, Alice, Sylvie and Marg strike out on another one of their many crazy adventures. Some of this is a little over the top, but a fun read!

This is the best of the 3. Laughed so hard, thought I'd wake my husband up. Waiting for book #4. Excellent stories.
