The night was supposed to be a celebration.

The culmination of another successful season for the guide service Hawk Tate and his business partner, Kaylan Quick, run together. A joyous occasion that saw them eat, drink, and toast the passing of another year.

And ultimately ended with one of them in the hospital, both only narrowly escaping with their lives.

At the same time, five hundred miles to the west, Hawk’s former DEA teammate Shawn Martin and his wife are feeling equally festive. Back from a weeklong business trip, they put the children to bed and slip outside, hoping to enjoy some champagne and time together in the hot tub.

A plan that ends in ways neither of them could have ever imagined.

After years of working throughout Central and South America, targeting some of the largest drug runners in the world, the coordination of the events is too much to be coincidence. Someone is coming after their team, looking to right some perceived wrong.

Shocked and confused, Hawk is forced to plunge back into the life he left six years before. Relying on friends new and old, he begins to unravel what is happening, his hunt taking him across the western half of the United States in search of an answer that is much, much closer to home that he would have ever thought possible…

I originally hail from the midwest, growing up in the heart of farm country, and still consider it, along with West Tennessee, my co-home. Between the two, I have a firm belief that football is the greatest of all past-times, sweet tea is really the only acceptable beverage for any occasion, there is not an event on earth that either gym shorts or boots can't be worn to, and that Dairy Queen is the best restaurant on the planet. Further, southern accents are a highly likeable feature on most everybody, English bulldogs sit atop the critter hierarchy, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Saturday night spent catfishing at the lake.

Since leaving the midwest I've been to college in New England, grad school in the Rockies, and lived in over a dozen different cities ranging from DC to Honolulu along the way. Each and every one of these experiences has shaped who I am at this point, a fact I hope is expressed in my writing. I have developed enormous affinity for locales and people of every size and shape, and even if I never figure out a way to properly convey them on paper, I am very much grateful for their presence in my life.

To sum it up, I asked a very good friend recently how they would describe me for something like this. Their response: "Plagued by realism and trained by experiences/education to be a pessimist, you somehow remain above all else an active dreamer." While I can't say those are the exact words I would choose, I can't say they're wrong. I travel, live in different places, try new foods, meet all kinds of different people, and above all else stay curious to a fault.

Here's hoping it continues to provide us all with some pretty good stories...

Well that was an awesome action packed fast-paced adventure which is really nothing new for Hawk Tate but when people close to him are getting seriously hurt or dead then Hawk will stop at NOTHING to get justice for them and let's just say justice Hawk style is something bad guys should steer clear of at all cost because when this mountain man has you in his sights he turns into a rabid grizzly bear and there is not stopping him.

There was nothing I didn't love about this book the character's are awesome, the plot was gripping and thrilling the research and information throughout the story really brought it to life for me.

I have loved every book in this series and Wild Fire was no exception.

This was my first Hawk Tate book and it was riveting to say the least. Definitely able to read as a stand-alone but I’m one of those readers that has to have the whole story so I will be looking for the rest of this series for sure!

Time. It's Supposed To Make Life Better.

But to Hawk Tate and members of a task force for the DEA from an operation eight years prior, life is NOT better. News that the head of their DEA ops team has been murdered and with Hawk's business partner and office manager taking the brunt of an attempted hit in Hawk's place has him and the remnants of the old team scrambling to get answers. Answers that will help guide them in the hours and days to come. Written in the usual sharp, gritty manner that is Dustin Stevens style, you find a whirlwind of activity and action that takes the story from Montana to Washington State and down to southern California. How this story begins is puzzling in its origins but becomes clearer only after most of the dust settles. There are some very crafty twists and turns throughout and a few I-didn't-see-that-coming moments that keep you glued to the story beginning to end.

A big step up in suspense!!!!

Hawk watches his buisness partner fly through the air as the door to his buisness explodes. How bad is she hurt? Is she even still alive. A gunman pins him down so he can't check on her. So it starts. How will it end. That's anyone's guess! The action is fast and furious. Who is after his old team? They have all been out of the DEA for several years. Why now? Read this fascinating book to find the answers. Highly recommended.

The DEA lets drug king pin El Jefe out 8 yrs into a 50 yr sentence.

The DEA lets former drug king pin out 8 years into a 50 year sentence so that he can regain his drug enterprise. That starts a whole bunch of action, one of the agents that captured him gets murdered, another former agent's office gets blown up. So starts tons of action, revenge, and former agents teaming up to set the situation right.

Like the title "Wild Fire" Perry wild

This one is a story that is most basically Wild & spur of the moment tactics. Although he did slow down long enough to get enough basic information to be able to contend with the situation at hand so there was a bit of planning. Thanks for all the entertainment.

Wild Fire

Not sure what to think about this one...in the end, I am glad I finished reading this volume of the series, but it was kind of slow going. There were SO many characters, I had a hard time keeping them straight. The book was probably longer than it needed to be to get the story told.

Hawk Tate #6

The new characters of Smith and Jones made this storyline interesting, but you have to read book 7 to find out their reason for being added. The novel ended with more questions than answers, so I was unsatisfied.

Decent book

Hard to believe that this is the same author as the Reed and Billy novels. So, so much descriptive filler, repeating events, and what the character is feeling over and over again.

Excellent

As usual, another excellent storyline! Thanks again for your advanced imagination. The characters are still working for me. Hope to see them reach somewhat of a happily ever after someday.

Hawk Tate 6

This book was great reading! Not withstanding that friends get hurt and people die it’s extremely hard to visualize people living on the edge all the time! I’m a wuss when it comes to being hurt or hurting someone else! Others just aren’t!!

Move over Chuck Norris

Hawk Tate as a character fills the role as Uber-macho killer angel of modern times. Anyone with a trace of testosterone in their body will identify with the premise and flow of this story. A full on macho fantasy!

medium paced, action-packed, this book doesn't disappoint.

Hawk, Pally, and Diaz add a fourth person to their band of off-script law enforcement good guys. Going full bore into the action, this does not disappoint.

I had a problem with this book being so slow. Took me some days to get thru it. Ending was confusing…not sure I understand exactly. Hopefully will not affect the comprehension of the next book. The team work was nice, Hawk and his 2 remaining colleagues.
