Unconditional Freedom: Universal Basic Income and Social Power
As the rich get richer, taking more of our wealth, our democratic freedoms are also in danger. The elite are gaining large profits without duly contributing to society, hollowing out our public services and institutions, and preventing the vast majority of us from living our lives fully and developing productive and reproductive projects of our own. In Unconditional Freedom , David Casassas argues that for us to live freely, we need unconditional resources such as Universal Basic Income. In a sharp and lucid analysis of the power of 'pre-distributing' resources, he shows that UBI would not only liberate us from the nightmare of precarious employment but it would also increase our bargaining power as a class, opening doors to democratizing our lives. While it would be naïve to say that UBI alone would put an end to capitalist social relations, Casassas convincingly argues that it would help pave the way for social emancipation.

Could you imagine a golfer wining a few million over a weekend…..
Won’t it be nice 😊
Yeah, there should definitely be a land tax for for extra homes 🏡. Properties are trillions of dollars and billionaires are like in the hundred in Canada 🇨🇦 not many.
Put it in perspective 1 million is like 11 days in seconds. One billion is 37 years in seconds.
Trillions of dollars with people who own property real estate like hundred or thousands of homes 🏡.
Entrepreneurs and homeowners are the only way people can save and not be a passive citizen check by check living.
I find it unfair….
A UBI would on a land tax would give people more chances of owning a home 🏡 and people income when replaced in an AI revolution and a de-industrialization era.
This book was complete and unhappy ☹️ book. If you read it. It makes some one feel like dirt.
System doesn't help a lot of people.
Money buys power, luckily it can't buy happiness
I’m sure it buys some happiness. But that’s besides the vanishing homes that are driven up in a betting war of buyers and sells.
I think the creepage of it all is the elites are real people in control of passive citizens.
And most can’t even see the Stockholm syndrome of intermitted rewards is part of the fanatical culture liking their captures.
So true. 99 percent work for the 1 percent. If the people realized this things would change.
It's clear that you're passionate about these issues. It's always important to consider different viewpoints on topics such as wealth distribution and housing. While there's no simple solution, discussing these matters openly is a good step in bringing about potential change.
Unfortunately the smart people are paid by the rich to make rich richer….. people got to see what gdp actually mean for majority of people is a here wages dropping and inflation he wealth not circulating as it should between classes. It’s a finite resource. And in present circumstances human capital as in is the impersoncalities are to be found in taxing the wealthy is found.
Even rich people want UBI but there purpose sabotaging or discussing unconditional freedom as something that distorts civilization.
