This series is perfect for all but specifically for Young Adults or Teens who are looking for a fantasy escape. The magic system was unique and POVs from multiple people helped create more complex and lovable characters. I don’t know why this book hasn’t blown up in popularity but it absolutely has the potential! I’m halfway through the second one now and I love it so much, I had to come back here to give the first one a review! Fans of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson, this is a series for you!

Embark on a thrilling adventure filled with shimmering silver portals, accidental transports to Earth, black capes, and a mysterious Dark Cloud society. Kristy Dixon’s “The Silver Eclipse,” the first book in the Akkron series, is a highly-anticipated book that weaves a tale of intrigue, excitement, and mystery, reminiscent of the beloved Harry Potter and Percy Jackson series. When Wren unexpectedly lands in Missouri through a portal and meets Graham, their worlds are forever altered. Graham, now trapped in Akkron with Wren, discovers his new healer powers and forms an unbreakable bond with four new friends. Together, they uncover a prophecy that

…five would come when hope was lost, to save the world, at such a cost. Five would come to fight the fight, to change the world from wrong to right.

They are the chosen ones who must summon the Silver Eclipse.

From the very first page, Kristy Dixon’s exceptional writing skill transports readers into the enchanting and perilous world of Akkron. A realm teeming with unique and magical creatures, from menacing giants to colossal trolls, mischievous goblins to majestic flying alicorns, and a mesmerizing crystal cave adorned with floating bubbles of potent energy. Dixon’s vivid descriptions breathe life into the world of Akkron. Within this realm, five teenagers are tasked with forming an alliance to protect their home from impending peril.

Akkron is a hypnotic and enchanting place, filled with an aura of magic and mystery that evokes the pages of a captivating young adult novel. It beckons teens to immerse themselves in its world, igniting their curiosity and imagination. Akkron is full of magic and mystery reminiscent of a young adult novel. It will captivate kids, drawing them into its world and sparking their imagination.

“What is the Silver Eclipse?” inquired Graham.
“It’s a powerful form of magic,” explained Zera. “Only a select few have the ability to summon the silver mist or cloud.”

This piece of writing by Dixon captivates you and keeps you engrossed without letting you put the book down.

“The Silver Eclipse,” Book 1 in the Akkron series, is a captivating read designed explicitly for readers aged ten and above. This book is a thrilling adventure and a journey of self-discovery and friendship, making it a perfect choice for teen/pre-teen readers who enjoy fantasy and adventure. As I delved into the story, I found myself eagerly turning each page, unable to focus on anything else until I reached the end. I highly recommend this book to any parent or educator searching for a new, engaging, and thrilling series that will captivate and inspire their children or students.

“The Silver Eclipse” by Kristy Dixon was an absolute delight for me as an educator. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was exceptionally well-written with a clean and refreshing writing style that kept the pacing fast and engaging. It serves as a perfect launch to a series, and I am eagerly looking forward to the second book’s release.

A fun start for a new trilogy. Silver Eclipse follows Wren and Graham as they learn to navigate the political and magical perils of Akkron.

The book starts with Wren getting herself into trouble, what’s worse, soon she’s pulled an Earth boy into trouble with her. As she and Graham grow closer, they soon have a whole ensemble of friends whose fates are intertwined with the future of Akkron. The friends struggle with the corrupt city and the apparent apathy of the adults around them, but when they stumble into the middle of a prophecy they realize maybe it’s not just evil that’s been working behind the scenes.

This is very much a set-up book, prepping the readers for what’s to come. The world and rules of Akkron are mapped out slowly as Graham discovers them. A big portion of the story is people (children and adults) acting impulsively, leading into why that’s not always the best idea. It’s interesting to see the adults from the kids’ perspective and realizing that they are somewhat unreliable narrators. It was easy for me to get a little frustrated at everyone at first because of the lack of communication. Because of the teen perspective, the adults appear as people who are never doing enough to right the wrongs of the world, but as things move along we realize that what the kids can’t see is all of the sacrifice and hard work that moved the resistance along long before those same kids ever existed. It’s a slow-burn story arc, and I think it will have a good payoff. I’m excited to read the second book.

A new, fun book for all ages! This book was an enjoyable read for me and much of my family. We loved the world and the characters and we can't wait for the sequel!
The book introduces the world in a easy to follow way by viewing the perspective of Graham learning about the new world he's been taken too, and the narration truly feels like it is coming from the perspective of the characters, which makes it all so much more interesting. This book filled with magic, fate, discovery and more, will be loved by all those who read it!

The Silver Eclipse:Akkron
By Kristy Nixon
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Graham, a basketball-loving student whose only solid goal in life is to heal people keeps to himself. His aunt is more like a wicked stepmother, and he keeps his head down and tries not to be noticed. Until one day, a girl appears on the edge of the forest, and Graham is the only one that can see her. By following her into a strange place, Graham discovers that Earth might not be all it is cracked up to be, and maybe it wasn’t an accident when he stumbled across Wren in the woods. Can he figure out this other world? Can he help discover the plans of The Dark Cloud? Can he help the Silver Eclipse succeed? Or is he destined to return to Earth to live out the life he always thought was his future?

This #YAfantasy is a page turner, and while it is written for younger readers, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy. The characters are relatable, and their interactions are pure and familiar. As a reader, you feel like you are in the book, meeting with friends and solving crimes together. The world of Akkron is brilliant, exploring every day details that humans take for granted through the eyes of a different world. The further along I read, the more invested in the friendships I became. I loved turning each page, but I also realized it was getting me closer to the end. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out! It will be a great book to read with my boys in a few years, so hopefully the series will be complete by then.

4.5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wren suspects that one of her teachers is a member of a terrible secret group known as The Dark Cloud, she decides to go snooping, and when she discovers that he is in fact a member of this secret society, she panics and creates an illegal portal so that she can quickly escape unseen. Wren does not ever know where her portals will take her, that is part of what makes them illegal and dangerous. This particular portal takes her to Earth where she inadvertently brings back a boy named Graham.
At first Graham has no idea that he has been transported somewhere else, a place called Akkron. A place where goblins, dragons, and giants exist and the residents of Akkron practice magic. As Graham makes new friends and tries to fit in, he becomes involved in an ancient prophecy and he discovers that this may not be the first time he has been to Akkron after all.

I loved this story! It had myth and magic and a group of kids who will stop at nothing to uncover the truth and save their home from evil. Graham, Wren, Ming Li and Tal all become an inseparable group after Graham finds himself in Akkron courtesy of Wren and an illegal portal. The foursome have decided that they need to become involved in stopping The Dark Cloud, a group of adults with sinister intentions that are made up of some of the most influential and well known adults of their world. As time goes on and the group discovers more of the history of magic and Akkron, they discover that Graham might not really be a stranger to this place like they originally thought and that the four of them might be the key to saving their world.

This is perfect for kids and parents alike! It is a fast paced magic filled story that pulls you in from the start and keeps you wanting more at the end, good thing this is only book one in a trilogy! I would recommend that anyone who still believes in magic and is a kid or a kid at heart should read this book, you won't be sorry!

Review of "The Silver Eclipse, Akkron" Book One
By: Kristy Dixon

Magical worlds, fighting evil organizations, illegal portals and adventure oh my!!!
Our adventure starts by following Wren as she is trying to prove that her teacher is part of an evil organization. But when he almost catches her she escapes by opening an illegal portal to Earth.

Graham wonders where the strange dressed girl came from, she seems scared and hurt when she takes off running he pursues and in the blink of an eye he is not in his home town anymore, he may not even be on earth......but where is he and what is going on?

This book is SO good!! I could not put it down!

This book is a wonderful fantasy story!! I love the characters and the relationship between them!!
The adventure and the world they are in is creative and fun as well! Kristy does an amazing job making you feel like you are on the adventure with them. This book is recommended for ages 11 to 16 but I think realistically it could be for anyone who enjoys a good fantasy read! And I will be recommending this to as many people as I can!
I can not wait for book 2 to come out!!

I give this book 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of 5 stars and I would highly recommend it!!

"The Silver Eclipse" is a fun and light-hearted read. If you have devoured your fair share of fantasy novels, then you know the gist: ordinary person from our world stumbles into a magical dimension with a big bad that needs defeating. The writing is a bit juvenile, and tends to skew to the middle-grade side as opposed to YA, although both of the protagonists are teenagers.

I do appreciate the diversity of having a main Black male protagonist in a fantasy book. Aside from that, while I can't say this book especially stands out to me, I did enjoy my time with it. I would recommend it for younger fans of Harry Potter or Rick Riordan who are looking for something to soothe the itch of waiting for a new book, or those looking for a popcorn fantasy to while away boredom.

Thanks to ReaderViews and the author for allowing me to read a free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I bought this book because of the author posting about it in a book group that I'm in on Facebook. I decided to try it out, and found myself enjoying it. It's hard to pinpoint precisely what it was that makes me not give it 4 or 5 stars, maybe because it's not a book that I want to immediately reread, but still liked it enough to want to read the sequel to see what happens next. I will reread it when the sequel is published, to refresh myself in the story.

I found this book advertised in a Facebook group where indie authors could advertise their books, and I am glad I did. It's aimed for young adults, but it didn't stop me from enjoying it from start to finish, and I can't wait for the next book to come out. I was riveted from the first page, wanting to know more about the dark cloud. This is a book great for all ages.

Captivating

My 9-year-old daughter and I read this book. My daughter told me to give it 5 stars and I agree. It flowed well, kept your attention, and kept you wanting to come back for more. Fantasy mixed with adventure is a good mix, just like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.

So glad to have come across this one! It's a light and enjoyable read, with likeable characters, well-paced action, and a nice mix of fantasy elements intertwined with a bit of the real world.
Having picked this one up as a free Kindle book, I was very happy to buy the other two parts. Wasn't ready to part with this universe without getting to know the rest of the story ;)
