Hopeless Romantic

Extended 2023 edition, with 100 pages of new & updated content!

When he falls, he falls hard.

Millie Baylin just moved to a new city to start college. Introverted and studious, she plans on spending most of her time holed up in the library working on her novel and keeping to herself. But when she gets dragged along to a school football game by her fun, football-mad new roommate, the hot alpha quarterback almost drops the ball at his very first sight of her.

Bo McCabe is saving himself. A hopeless romantic at heart, he’s holding out for the real thing. As soon as he lays eyes on the shy stranger with the striking gray eyes and the angel’s face, he’ll stop at nothing to find out if she’s the one he’s been waiting for all along. Millie thinks Bo's insta-obsession is insanity and wants nothing to do with him. But Bo is determined. Because, somehow, Millie has already stolen his heart … and he is now utterly obsessed with winning hers.

Can Bo convince Millie he’s the man of her dreams?

Hopeless Romantic is a sexy standalone sports romance, starring an obsessed hero and the love of his life (includes two hopelessly romantic HEA epilogues!). This book is a tribute to love at first sight and insta-everything (because it happened to me :).

Hopeless Romantic is book one in the brand new series, McCabe Brothers, by Julie Capulet. Julie somehow has this ability to write the stories that make my heart so happy. They are full of OTT Alpha heroes that will go to the ends of the earth to make their woman their own. They are full of insta-everything and I am addicted.

Millie Baylin has had a hard life, a life void of any of the normal pleasures we all take for granted. But she has risen above it all. It took her a year after high school to save up the money but she is about to start her freshman year of college. All she wants to do is study, keep to herself, and work on her novel.

Cara Delevingne

Millie and her new roommate hit it off from the very first moment. Her roommate is fun loving and easy to talk to. She convinces Millie that she has to attend the very first football game with her so Millie reluctantly goes along. Little did she know that this day was going to change the rest of her life.

football players #7

Bo McCabe is a senior and is the starting quarterback. Bo, though, has gained quite the reputation on campus, because he doesn’t date, ever. He is saving himself for the “one.” He doesn’t know if he’ll ever find her although he prays it’s soon. It’s the first game of the season and when he randomly glances up at the jumbotron, the world stands still, because there she is. He just knows that he has to meet her. But how will he ever find her when he has no idea who she is?!

“For the first time in a long time I don’t feel scared. At all. I feel alive, like Bo’s presence has turned me electric and hyper-aware.”

Millie, who wants nothing at all to do with being thrust into the spot light, finds herself in just such a predicament. But Bo is there to save her. They just met but she can’t deny that he is beautiful, and kind, and so wonderful to her. Maybe she can give herself just this one night, but then she will go back to the way life has to be. Because she does not fit into Bo’s world at all. She doesn’t belong there.

“Something about our souls is a match. Our broken pieces fit together.”

What did I love about this book? Everything! I loved that all it took was one look and Bo was gone for Millie. When you read the book, you will get a better idea of why Bo always felt like he had to wait for the “one.” This book is sweet, sexy as heck, and just full of everything that I love.

Sexy

The next book in the series is called My Hero and is Bo’s brother Caleb and Millie’s best friend, Violet’s story. I can’t wait to read it!

🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥

This new series about 3 completely different brother’s that all seem to be Hopeless Romantics!

We start off with the youngest of the brothers - Bo McCabe, who is a star quarterback.

Bo isn’t one of those sex crave football player that is full of himself. in my eyes he seems very humble… but don’t confuse that with that the fact he is all alpha!

1st game of his senior year & for some odd reason he glances up at the Jumbotron & he see her… And he knows she the one!

(Bo is star-struck, like one of those shots in a movie where everything fades out except the object that takes all your focus. Which is Millie Baylin)

Millie Baylin was desperate to get as far away from her past & to say that that she needed a fresh start was putting it mildly

Here, she not the poor kid with a heroin addict for a mother. Or the lonely waif who lives in a trailer park & carries Narcan in her pockets. With that said you got to figure that Millie don’t fit in or make friends easily. Now she got this huge fan base chasing her around

Go Green Bay packer

If you not notice this is insta-love story also very sweet one to boot

We got small taste of Caleb McCabe book
📚 Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion 💕 💕 Also I wouldn’t discourage anyone from reading it.

➦*I received an ecopy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review of it. 💕

What did I just read? A very unrealistic story that seemed to be written by a pre-teen in a fantasy land

Starting quarterback, Bo McCabe, made a promise to his mother on her deathbed that he would not settle for anything less than true love.

When Millie Baylin steps out of her comfort zone and attends the season opening game, she briefly graces the Jumbotron and catches Bo’s eye.

Despite her trepidation, she is as enamored with Bo as he is with her.

What follows is the type of whirlwind romance that daydreams are made of. Bo is swoon worthy: sincere, romantic, a touch alpha, and only has eyes for Millie. Shy and quietly strong, Millie is Bo’s perfect match. I adore everything about this couple and can’t wait to read about the other McCabe brothers.

Where to start with this train wreck.
1st of all, baffled with the 5 star reviews because it sounded like a 12 year old wrote it.
Let's start with how unrealistic this book was from start to end. Millie turns up at college and the oh so popular and powerful virgin quarterback sets his sights on her and within minutes...literal minutes, the whole school is stalking her and trying to find out who she is. He picks her up and rescues her from the frenzied mob and takes her home with him. After two hours of meeting theyve slept together, both losing their virginity, and are totally in love with each other. She doesnt spend a single night in her dorm room as she has now moved in with Bo! Give me a break!
One month later, hes popping the question!
Her books deals are coming in thick and fast and now shes got a million followers on instagram. Honestly its laughable!
Fast forward 2 years and THREE epilogues later, they have a kid and shes preggo with twins.
I could go on and on with how bad this book is but I'd be here all day.
The writing was awful, the plot was unrealistic and both characters were just as ridiculous as all the high ratings this book got.
Easily the worst book I've ever read

Spoilers ahead

This book falls into the category of books I try my best not to rate simply because they never really work for ME but they're safe reads and I'll always be biased because of that

I love football romances and I'm actually a fan of instalove but this book was OTT in almost every aspect - from the new college student who was so shy and sweet with her unusual hair and eyes to the virgin quarterback superstar who's filthy rich but just hopes to have the kind of love his parents had and the stalkers who swarmed their homes like this guy was Manning or Brady......it was all just a shade into the unbelievable side

The romance took place in a day, the sexy times was like a bad porno and it was too short to get to really know the characters BUT it was cute, sweet and had good epilogues and I will read more from this author so hmmmmmm 🙍

Bo is the star quarterback of a university. He has never been in love until he was stopped on his track during a game, mesmerized by the sight of a beautiful woman on the Jumbotron. That woman was Millie, a freshman. She just moved into her dorm when her roommate talked her into attending the football game. Being on the spotlight as the star quarterback’s object of attention is the last thing on her mind. Because of her bad upbringing, all she wants to do is to to keep to herself, go to school & quietly work on her novels. However, Bo is not deterred and is dead set on getting to know the elusive beauty and make her his.

The premise sounded really cute but the writing was very cringe. To be frank it reads like a fanfic written by a very young person, but with smut. The FMC also gives me that “I’m not like other girls” vibe which just makes me want to vomit. However, if you’re just looking for a quick and fun read to get lost in, this might appeal to you.

This book is so short. There is just so much insta everywhere. Insta lust, insta love, every conflicts are resolves too quickly. Without drama.

And I can not help thinking the conversation is too cheesy and over the top. However despite all the shortcomings, overall this book is still OK read. Good thing it is short!

If you ever read this, I want you to know two main things:

🔪 It’s a novella, don’t panic. (I thought it was a normal length book and I was concerned for my sanity)

🔪 It’s OTT. For reals, you’ll see.

A few not so important things:

🔪 The magic wand makes an appearance (why tho? 🤢)

🔪 It was so funny/cringy I shed a few tears.

🔪 But it was sweet, in a weird way.

After reading JK for so long this felt low key “normal”.

Usually girls wear a shitload of makeup, and it always confuses me. Why so much? What are they trying to look like? With Millie, I really don’t think she’s wearing any makeup at all.

This line alone is enough to make me dnf this book. What a sad attempt to make the heroine seem like she's "not like other girls".

Football player Bo McCabe has the world at his feet, saving himself for the one, he finds himself entranced by the beauty in the stands, when he randomly glances up at the jumbotron, loosing sight of her, his determined to find her and keep her close.

Millie Baylin has had a hard life, a life void of any of the normal pleasures most take for granted. Having worked her huts out she’s finally made enough money to start college and she’s determined to succeed, what she doesn’t expect is Bo McCabe.

I’m all for insta-love, a possessive alpha hero who adores the heroine but, in this book, I found myself thinking this is just too sweet, corny, more than anything else. Everything was OTT, so much so that reality couldn’t be left at the door, and I found myself frowning and thinking as if that would happen.

Also, when it comes to Millie’s feelings for Bo – they felt lacklustre, the emotional and physical connection between the two didn’t tightly pulsate of the page.

Plus, the book felt too short, the way in which things were written meant there wasn't any substance to anything.

I knew going into this book that it was going to be a very over the top type of story and I was looking forward to that. Yet the book just went wayyy too out there for me and everything was super unrealistic in my opinion. Add in the fact that it was fast paced and very insta-lovey it just wasn't a good combination for my liking.

Reread 2021 - yep. Still completely adorably ridiculous. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤡

I’m not really an instalove or dual virgin kinda gal, but for some reason I like how this author throws down. It’s sorta a mix between Alexa Riley and Jessa Kane. I think part of what makes it work, is that these books are short, and really don’t attempt to be serious.

One thing I found completely laughable is that the H kept wearing his football pads outside of the football field. That IS NOT a thing. 👀🤡 No one is driving a car with their shoulder pads on. 😅 But really, there’s so much nonsense in this book, that I just shrugged and moved on.

Bottom Line? If you like OTT possessive/protective bulldozery H and ooey-gooey instalove with a pinch of kinky, you’ll like this.

I Loved this because I am a romantic who believe in love at first sight and soulmates. I loved the OTT obsessed virgin H, and the stunning h!
I only wish this book was a lot longer (200pgs).

If you need realistic love, then you should avoid this, take my word for it, you won’t like this.
Everything is pretty much insta.

This was ridiculously absurd, adorable, and cringeworthy. 😂 I'm into insta-love atm, and this just did it for me. I liked almost everything about this, but the constant publicizing of their whirlwind romance is giving me second-hand embarrassment. I feel like these two are part of a reality TV show, and their antics are scripted; it's not even cute anymore.

But Bo sure did move fast, and he knew Millie was it for him from the very start. Gimme an obsessed and sweet fictional man, and I'm going to love him and his OTT ways of showing his devotion.

Overall, I had fun and enjoyed it, but the introvert in me cannot handle the public grand gestures that seem to always happen around the MCs. Nonetheless, this was still okay.

3 💘💘💘🌟s

I have always enjoyed Julie Capulet’s books. She creates loveable and awesome characters as well as stories, builds and creates in a style that has me hooked.
However, Hopeless romantic was short!!! 😱😱😱😱 I didn’t realise how soon it ended. 😢😢😢
I liked both main and secondary characters, the concept was interesting and exciting but lacked angst and development. I needed more!!!!! 😱😱😱
I will definitely read the story of Caleb and Violet though!

I'm a sports romance junkie but I'm sorry. I just couldn't buy into the insta-lust/love premise of the whole story. Instead of getting the feels for how things played out between the MC's, I found their actions too OTT for my taste. Just not the book for me.

Millie has had a rough life losing her mom and never knowing who her dad is she likes to keep to herself.. she's headed off to a new adventure college she rather be studying and keeping to herself but her new roommate violet insist on her to live alittle just a tiny bit and go to the football game. and that is where our story starts!!!

Bo!!!! i love the fact he wasn't a manwhore he is waiting for THE ONE! bless becuze that is what made me want to read this book!! but our dear Bo is a broody football player who also has a troubled life.. he also lost his parents but he does have 2 other brothers.. who idk if ill read the other brothers.. maybe Caleb? he doesn't sound like a manwhore Gage does.. so ill pass on his book. Bo lives breaths and is all day every day football until he spots his girl on the big jumbo screen and BAM!! that's his girl for life!! (which I love) they do have some problems the fans... LORDDDDD the fans... now that was extreme.. and Millies "I can't be with a guy like this.. im trash." ugh Millie.. good thing Bo was always showing her he would be there for everything.

now everything sounds so perfect!! why the low rating? there was something missing for me.. I love Bo wayy more than Millie.. i felt she wasn't as invest as Bo was.. thats what bugged me.. also the crazy ass football fans who were insane for this college star.. like NFL INSANE!

I am WRECKED from this book. Everything about this was pure fucking magic. The hero, his caveman obsessive devotion and his determination to win his soulmate. The heroine, her shyness and sweetness and her brokenness. Their love, it was white-hoy fire burning up their pain and doubts.

This one was pure fire. And I don’t have the words to do this magnificent story justice.

100% safe. Dual virgins. No others, no cheating or abuse. HEA with babies years out.

This is an incredibly sweet new adult romance. This novel is the definition of an insta-love. While both the hero and the heroine have tragic pasts, these tragic pasts are all but a distant memory the moment they meet. Things happen a tad too perfectly in this book. Millie is a total Mary Sue character. She’s incredibly beautiful, smart, talented, and without any flaws. Sure, Millie is a tad insecure, but considering that’s often viewed as an asset in romance novels (including this one), I wouldn’t say that’s a character flaw at all.
Whatever the male equivalent of Mary Sue is, that’s what Bo is.
I prefer my characters to have some flaws to them. Because of Millie’s tragic past, she’s a little reluctant to open up to Bo, and I do wish that that hesitance had lasted a little longer, because the obstacles in a romance novel are what make the happy ending feel worthwhile.
This book is short, but it has three long-ish epilogues. Even these epilogues are incredibly sweet and obstacle-free.
I recommend this book to those who want an over-the-top sweet romance that’s 99% angst-free, and 1% glossing over of childhood traumas.

I have mixed feelings about this book. In the beginning I thought it was cute but then it felt too rushed.

It's just hard for me to get that the main characters' relationship "developed" in a matter of less than 24 hours. He saw her and then EVERYONE on campus tried to find her. Then they got to his house and without even knowing each other that well and he thought that she was "The One" and that he loved her.

I get that it's a short story but maybe if the steamy scenes were less and shorter we could get to see more of them developing their relationship. Still, it was an okay read and I might continue reading the series. 3 ⭐
