Maggie K. Black is an award-winning journalist with a thirst for adventure. She's lived in the American South, Europe and Middle East, and left a piece of her heart in each. She now makes her home in Canada, where she writes stories that make her heart race, chases her dog around the park and shares her adventures with her one true love and and their two daughters.
“Are you okay?” “Yeah, of course I’m fine. Are you?” And that’s when he realized he wasn’t. … And if Asher didn’t get a hold of his emotions—and quickly—he could blow the entire mission.
Well-conceived and written adventure mystery with most, but not all, central characters committed Christians. Breaks the stereotype of Christian literature being syrupy romance nor the Roman Road gospel disguised as fiction. Yes, they pray before they act; in a few cases they should have prayed before they spoke.
While she tried to tell herself that whatever just happened between them was good-natured work banter and that they had definitely not been flirting.
Criminal activities abound from physical violence to drug smuggling to puppy napping. Two K-9 professionals assume fake identities to sniff out the wrongdoing. Black identifies a mixed gender combat issue: women perform fine, but men prioritize protecting women above both their own safety and the mission.
Asher was still gazing at her like she was a puzzle he wanted to solve.
Seventh in a Christian romance series written by various authors. Ensemble cast of recurring characters with developing storyline. Despite that, this book stands alone and concludes its arch better than many mid-series fiction novels by single authors. It may not merit five stars on an absolute scale but compared to other Christian fiction it is.
4 stelle e mezza Sarei tentata di dare mezza stella in più solo per le scene alla fine del libro con i cuccioli... Bella storia, comunque. Ora non vedo l'ora di leggere il gran finale.
This is the 7th book in the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit series. It is a great edition to the series. Finally, we get to fid out what happened to the kidnapped puppies that were taken toward the beginning of the series. Lots of action in this one and the romance was sweet.
Eeeep — we’re getting closer to the grande finale of this continuity series! In fact, two of the secondary over-arcing mysteries find resolution in this seventh book so this might not be the place to start in on the series. Though it would read perfectly fine as a standalone — it just contains spoilers for two side mysteries. So, if you don’t intend on playing catch up jumping in here is totally fine. And — woohoo – we have a forced proximity romance between a hero and heroine going undercover as a married couple! Definitely one of my favourite tropes because it provides all kinds of relationship building opportunities. So we get some fun banter mixed in with poignant moments as both Asher and Peyton wrestle with some personal stuff. Plus we have a spiffy springer spaniel K-9 officer and some ornery villains to catch — and all of that makes this one riveting read.
Well, listen for me, since this is another Love Inspired Suspense novel I was thrilled to find in audio format! I enjoyed Abby Craden’s narration and hoping for more Love Inspired and Love Inspired Suspense novels to be made available in this format.
Can K-9 officer Asher Gilmore, and trainer Peyton Burns working undercover as Dan and Merry with their underwater detection K-9...er, pet Spark, locate three missing bloodhound pups and bust a drug ring without their identities being discovered? Who stole the diary Peyton was writing as Merry? And which of the four candidates for two spots on the Pacific Northwest K-9 unit is trying to sabotage their rivals?
"Undercover Operation" by Maggie K. Black is the seventh part of the Love Inspired Suspense series Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit. Most of the time, I find these novels written so that you can read them out of order and still enjoy them (e.g. I read parts 3, 4, and 5 before I got to book 2, and was still able to follow the story), but in this case, I think you should have read the first six books first.
I enjoyed the relationship between Asher and Peyton. The plot is exciting, but has a few holes in it. For example, would a trio of bloodhound puppies dognapped and kept for six months be as small as the cute trio on the cover? You will need a very generous suspension of disbelief with this story. It's still fun.
Again, I suggest you read the series in order before you read this book and the finale. I still recommend this book, and I absolutely love this series.
seven stars. Dan and Merry Johnson were under cover hunting for dogs and drugs.
Dan and Merry were actually PNK9 undercover national park cops. Asher and Peyton were there real names but for now they were trying hard to play newly wedded couple on a belated honeymoon. Peyton covered her beautiful red hair with a blond wig and Asher grew a beard. They both were in civies and had concealed weapons. They fond a contact right away and from then on were being hunted and someone was shooting at them and ransacked their hotel room trying to find something. Peyton was attacked and only because Spark interfered did she make it out alive. They just couldn’t find the link that would solve the case and bring back the dogs that were missing from PNK9 training facility. After the third arrack Peyton was kidnapped and the woman Asher realized he loved was being hidden by the drug runners. Asher called in more help and the whole team responded.
I love the dogs!!! I love how they are portrayed in the book, as beautiful, smart, loving, loyal, and great at what they do. The main characters are easy to like and relatable. The book helped me learn more about K-9 dogs and their jobs and those who work with them. If you enjoy a good mystery with wonderful dogs, and some romance added, you'll love this book!
One again K-9 officers are out trying to recover the stolen Bloodhound puppies. Officer Asher and his dog were trying to find stolen drugs. He and K-9 trainer Kaitlyn were set up as a married couple to worm their way into the dealers area of business. Another good one in the Pacific Northwest series.
This is the 7th book in the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit continuity series. In this story, dog trainer Peyton Burns goes undercover with K-9 officer Asher Gilmore, as a married couple, to find the three missing bloodhound pups and to expose a drug ring. This story is full of action and suspense as they work, on both land and water, to solve these crimes!
I’m really enjoying this K-9 series in the Pacific Northwest where I grew up. Each book is a stand alone but part of the series too. I really enjoyed this one; it’s full of suspense, a little romance and a faith thread too.
Good read in the Pacific Northwest K-9 continuity series. I liked that this one focused on the missing K-9 pups. Asher and Peyton were good main characters, and it was fun to see them get their turn for romance.
The storyline of this book was great however I do wish that it was longer and so the characters were able to develop more deeply throughout the book. I don’t know if they were just trying to make solve one too many problems to fit everything in. But overall still a good book.
This is a well written book, great story line, with a good cast of players. The kind of book you can't put down, while your wine gets warm, and your coffee gets cold. If you like a good mystery with well trained dogs, you will like this string of books.
This was another great addition to the series. It was an intriguing case when the couple goes undercover, and became more so when they discovered that there was more going on than they expected. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and authors.
Excellent. I listened to the audio version and it was very well done. I loved the story of Asher and Peyton, especially the amount of time each of them turned to the Lord in prayer.
This was a great suspense read involving a K-9 officer and trainer posing as a married couple. Their goal is to rescue the 3 stolen bloodhound puppies and expose a drug ring. K-9 officer Asher Gilmore is leery about marriage as his marriage ended in a divorce because his ex wife cheated on him. Added to that, his father did the same thing to his mother when he was 10 and left them to raise a new family. The plot line was great with suspense, danger, and intrigue. The ongoing mystery of who was sabotaging the candidates' chances of joining the team permanently was solved in this story. Who it was I had guessed correctly. I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series as it will be about the ongoing case that spanned throughout this series.
