Some books just rub unto you, this one is definitely one of them. One of the most funny, heartwarming, inspiring memoir I've read. When I picked up this book I was sceptical but I let the judgment wash away and dived into this humour pool and I must say it didn't disappoint me. A romantic feminist and a funny bone, the author seems to me a jovial person who's out there battling with this cruel world with a fantastic sense of humour. What I felt after finishing this book is inexplicable, it's a whole bunch of emotions for me, but one thing for sure, I was laughing after reading every other mini paras. The book exudes warmth, the warmth of family, love, friendship and most important self-love. The identity crisis is real but the unique way she battled with her demons shows us another perspective of life. The honest confessions and genuine emotional turmoils made this book relatable, it formed a heart to heart connection. And the witty lines, if Granny B (I loved her btw) is the crown of this book then the lines are the jewels. Full of mischief and maasti this book will stay with me forever.
Coming to the writing style, it's amazing and engaging, kept me hooked throughout the book. I have no qualms about this book. I doubt this review is doing justice to the book. There's so much more into it. Hence proved nonfictions can be funny too. I insist everyone to read this book.

Jussawalla's characters are witty and relatable, making it easy for readers to identify with them. The author skillfully weaves together Kai's misadventures, her battles with bullies and badmash company, and her struggles to find the perfect man, all while maintaining a light and humorous tone.
Jussawalla's story is not just about finding love, but also about self-discovery and self-acceptance. Kai's journey is one that many readers can relate to, and her triumphs and failures will leave readers feeling inspired and entertained.
Overall, "Who Wants To Marry Kai Juicewalla?" is a charming and entertaining read that is perfect for YA Rom com lovers. Jussawalla's writing is fresh, funny, and relatable, and her characters are sure to leave a lasting impression.
My first reaction after reading a few pages was to sit and giggle. Kainaz can be really witty! O boy! She knows the pulse of the reader damn well. This dhamakedaar autobiography is a must read for all those girls, and boys, who have lost that important connection-with one self. Kai gpes through her shares of ups and downs, but with her trademark devil-may-care attitude in place.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, wishing it to never end. Actually, I re-read a few portions because I loved them so much! For example, the wall crumbles like the apple crumble. What lovely chapter names!
Highly recommended! Please do read this even if you are planning to read just a couple of books in 2023.
The book is a memoir of Kainaz Jussawalla. It is an entertaining and quirky read. Although the book mainly revolves around Kai’s romantic journey, it covers a broad spectrum of things ranging from social pressure, body image and life in general. Her writing style is witty, that made it engaging and hard to put down.
The book took me on a journey. I could imagine being in “South Bombay”, where I was sitting all the Parsi bawis and gossiping about Kai. I could also see myself chatting with Kai about food, spiritual affirmations and SRK. There are many tales from her life that I found relatable ranging from nagging relatives, romance misadventures and dealing with bullies
In conclusion the book reflected her real self, the real Kai. The book is a lovely entertainer that is perfect to read if you wish to have a lighter take on life.
One life, Many loves, Endless (Mis)adventures!!- I think the author has best described the entire book in just this one line.
This book is the memoir of Kai- a fun loving Parsi who absolutely is crazy for Shah Rukh Khan but extremely unlucky in love. In her ever-jovial attitude she takes every reader along the various good and bad incidents of her life, drawing put few laughs but at the same time giving out some really important life lessons on topics such as body positivity, dealing with societal pressure and living up to family expectations.
Initially it took me time to get into the flow of reading this because it wasn’t the type of book that I generally read. But as I went on reading, I began to enjoy it, and started to look forward to read about the different kind of men and experiences that Kai faces before she actually meets her true love. Because with each relationship, there is a much deeper message in terms of the how Kai develops as person.
Also the mention of Famous Five and Five Find Outers as well as Kai’s habit of keeping a journal brought back my childhood memories and made me make a note to myself to read them again when I get a break.
However, for me the main two highlights were- Kai’s friendships, because that made me love her personality and her relationship with her grandmother (Granny B). While Kai mentions that her grandmother was the powerhouse of hope and positivity, I think she has passed it on to Kai.
And I think every girl should follow Granny B’s advice, “Dikra, never run after a man or taxi because there is always another one coming!”
A memoir that revolves around Kainaz's romantic journey. The book is an entertaining and quirky read that takes the reader on a journey of Kai's transformation from a chubby, single bawi in her late 20s to a confident woman who has had many loves and endless misadventures. It also Covers the topic such as love, heartbreak, travel, self love and self-discovery. The writing style is easy, engaging and the readers can relate to the story and all the adventures. This book definitely offers a fresh perspective on love and relationships. The stories are humorous and keeps the readers hooked. What I've liked in this book is how the unspoken rules of dating and the awkwardness of first dates is described in a humorous way which makes it more relatable to almost all the readers and the author has also questioned some stupid wedding norms and society's expectations about ideal relationships.
Overall, the book is filled with humorous characters and situations that add more to its charm. The author's use of quirky observations, playful banter and satirical humor creates a lighthearted and relatable tone that keeps the reader engaged.
If you're looking for memoir that is light-hearted and humorous then this book is definitely for you.
Who Wants To Marry Kai Juicewalla?: One life, Many loves, Endless (Mis) adventures by Kainaz Jussawalla is an autobiography of the author.
I bought this book because I was impressed with the very first line of the blurb and I have to say that even though it was a good read, it was not a great one as it felt like at parts the author tried to make it a bit too relatable by being too filmy.
I don't know much about the Parsi culture so this book taught a great deal about the culture. The writing is good, I love how the essence of a teenage anxious girl was maintained and then how it slowly transitioned to a confident woman who is comfortable in her own skin.
Enjoyed it. Will recommend it to those who are looking for a fresh and funny non fiction to read.
This is an extremely engaging and captivating memoir of Kainaz Jussawalla. The author takes us through the journey of her life in a very interesting way of narration which I felt very relatable and humorous. It's my first time reading a memoir and I definitely couldn't have started with a better one! I thought memoirs can't be engaging since I always prefer to read fast-paced thrillers but this one proved me wrong. I loved everything about it. It was funny, inspiring and sad sometimes but she always found her way back and that impressed me. Her story is not all happy but with ups and downs after which she bounces back even more stronger to be a better version of herself. I had to mention about how supportive her parents, friends, cousins and Granny B were. I felt so connected to all of them. And her sarcasm and humor were so good and she surely has a great way of explaining things in a simple yet humorous way. Special mention to her unique way of describing the food items which made me drool🤭. A huge thumbs-up to this memoir from my side and I absolutely enjoyed every bit of it!💙
I dislike reading celebrity memoirs for the most part, as they are mostly ghostwritten for futher publicity, sound all the same, and are just tedious to get through. Even so, I got the chance to review this popular recent release, a memoir of Kainaz Jussawala of "Chai with Kai" fame. To say that I was not disappointed would be an understatement.
In her memoir, "Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla?: One life, Many loves, and Endless (Mis)adventures", the author, Kainaz Jussawalla takes readers on a heartfelt and introspective journey of self-discovery. Through a blend of personal anecdotes and insightful reflections, the author navigates the complexities of her multicultural upbringing, inviting readers to join her in her search for belonging, love of all kinds, and Shah Rukh Khan. So, fasten your seatbelts, and let us take a closer look at this uniquely humourous memoir.
One of the major highlights of this book is Jussawalla's witty humour and conversational language. From the very first page, one is greeted with her sharp and hilarious observations that will potentially leave the reader in stitches. Her ability to infuse every sentence with comedic timing is truly a gift. It is like having a hilarious friend regaling you with stories over a cup of coffee.
Next is the unique narration style of the memoir. The section titles alone, which set the stage, are worth a mention - "Aborted Take-off," "Fasten Your Seatbelts," "Mile High Club," "Joyrides and Parachutes," and "Smooth Landing." They not only provide a nod to Jussawalla's background as a flight attendant but also set the tone for the entire memoir. It gives a clever touch to the book that adds an extra layer of charm. Even the cover design reflects this aviation theme, making for a visually appealing package.
"Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla?" reflects a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance. We witness Kainaz's transformation from a chubby, single bawi (young Parsi lady) in her late 20s, who feels herself an emotional wreck, often chided by nagging relatives, to someone who embraces her true self. It is an inspiring and empowering piece of writing that many will connect with. Jussawalla's candidness about her successes and failures in love and life adds to its relatability. This stands true especially in the case of other readers who are also Indian women, like the author; more so, if they are of Parsi descent.
What sets Jussawala's memoir apart is the author's dedication to maintaining intimacy with the reader and keeping the humor at the forefront. The author lets her audience peek into the formative moments of her life, as if she puts them forward boldly; and the humour, as mentioned earlier, adds to the light-hearted nature of this piece of social criticism. It makes for a refreshing and enjoyable departure from the standard "serious" memoir format. But then the previous statement could also stand true for a few recent celebrity memoirs, like McConaughey's "Greenlights" (not very humourous, but refreshing, nonetheless). Amidst her turbulent adventures, she does not forget to display her unabashed love for Shah Rukh Khan, as it spills through the pages in every chapter. It's a delightful addition that adds another layer of fun to the memoir.
Even with the ton of good in it, there are a few gaping flaws. So, as mentioned above, there is a ton of fun to be had here, but on the downside, there are moments when the book tries a bit too hard to be quirky. While the majority of the humour lands well, there are quite a few instances where it feels somewhat forced. It is a minor flaw in an otherwise enjoyable read, but one worth mentioning. Another issue lies in the editing. The conversational language, while engaging, sometimes leads to a good bit of misplaced punctuation and a lack of overall editing polish. It can be a bit distracting and hinders the smooth reading experience. Additionally, the book could have benefited from some trimming. Though entertaining, it comes across as slightly longer than necessary, which may test the patience of some readers. But it still remains a quick and light-hearted read overall.
In conclusion, "Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla?" is a captivating memoir that combines personal storytelling with profound reflections on identity and belonging, but with a tone with underlying wit and humour. Kainaz Jussawalla's introspective, intimate, evocative writing, and exploration of personal, as well as cultural identity make this memoir a compelling read. It is a book that invites readers to embark on their own journeys of self-discovery while highlighting the power of embracing one's true self.

We are immersed in her world, feeling every emotion and sharing in her triumphs and challenges.
The central theme of the memoir remains crystal clear throughout: embracing oneself unapologetically and following the heart, no matter where it leads. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly endorse this book to readers of all walks of life. Whether you seek inspiration, a good laugh, or a poignant portrayal of being self, this memoir has it all.

As she faces life's trials, she discovers more about herself and her ambitions, providing readers with an uplifting story of development and perseverance. Readers are inspired to reflect on their travels and appreciate the process of self-discovery after witnessing her metamorphosis across the pages. On a personal note, I could see myself in some places. This made me read the book with more interest.
Humour in the Skies: Flight Attendant Anecdotes The author successfully mixes her flight attendant experiences, filling the book with interesting and informative stories from her time in the air. These entertaining stories give the memoir a distinct viewpoint, illuminating cultural understanding and the amusing situations of working in the aviation sector.
Challenging Beauty Standards and Body Image Jussawalla opens out about her difficulties with body image, defying cultural conventions and beauty standards. She urges people to reconsider their perceptions of beauty and embrace their individuality by sharing her path of acceptance and self-love. Her open chats provide an important message about body positivity and self-acceptance. The problem of body shaming is universal! No matter how positive a person might feel about themselves, people will put them down. Here, Kainaz excelled in her writing to address this issue.

WHO WANTS TO MARRY KAI JUICEWALLA? One life, Many loves, Endless (Mis) adventures. Kainaz Jussawalla is the author of the bestselling novel Coffee Days, Champagne Nights and Other Secrets. How many toads should a girl kiss before she finds her Prince Charming? Kai Juicewalla. Foodie. Sucker for Shah Rukh Khan movies and everything about him. A romantic feminist (no, that is not an oxymoron). Parsi by birth, so crazy by right. Likes making rules but keeps forgetting them. Is unconventional in the most conventional sense. Has ample curves but still rough around the edges. And loves to exercise—her opinions only. Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla? Is her racy, candid and juicy chronicle where she battles bullies, bulges and badmash company in a classy, sassy and bad assy way. An unending list of losers seems to be the bane of her life—a gold digger, a social climber, an unrequited love interest, an Italian Adonis, an identity thief (in the closet), a confused hot therapist, a raging narcissist. Her life comes a full circle when she discovers the most important relationship of her life—her relationship with herself. This no-holds-barred assault on your funny bone upholds the universal truth that the journey is more important than the destination. 📍This around 400 page book is a bundle of nerves, a storm held within the caricature of this book. The storm is Kai Juicewalla. She is entertaining, a live wire, positive & her energy is infectious. You need to check the author details to get a glimpse of what I am blabbering about. The book, although thick is fast paced and a total page turner. The writing style is peppy and you have to read between the lines. It reminds me of Twinkle Khanna's writing style. The vocab is easily comprehendible by even beginner level readers. There is use of vernacular language at instances.Be ready for some parsi jargons. It’s a fun memoir & something (tit bits) that will remain with me for quite sometime. The story begins in the year 2019 with marriage of Kai being the hot topic and pestering going on by uncles and aunts. “it’s amazing how some people have this great need to stereotype and compartmentalise everybody… “ Her jhansi rani avataar at the party was just hilarious. Her Parsi version of game of thrones with Mr. Whatever -hours name is, reminded me of my chats with total strangers on trips. It’s so much fun being vocal and extrovert because you are never going to meet again. The story skips timelines and moves to 2001. I loved what her granny said. “.. he must respect you and place you above all things and be your best friend when things fall apart. “ Also date and walnut cake is my favourite too. Friendships, crush, bullies, unforgettable memories made her childhood days. Oh yes and the fuss over zodiacs in school days, was too real to forget. The story skips few years and she is ready to embark on a totally new journey. I loved how she has quoted authors generously throughout the book. Also after few chaptees I eventually got used to Parsi words and salutations. Her career as a flight attendant, her reaching the 25th milestone and the adventures (trip to Europe) and ex’s, make up the next bit of the story. Her birthday was, ahem, quite a memorable And then the affair or not exactly an affair (I saw someone kissing Santa Claus) was a hilarious part in the story. Her being unmarried at 30 brought back memories of a dear friend. The demise of granny was a sad and emotional part in the rollercoaster ride this memoir is. The girl gang with the rampant rabbit was epic. I got zindagi na milegi dobara, dear zindagi and tamasha vibes. And eventually we reach the end, around 2022. And yes, we all adore SRK and the standards he has set. A bowl of French fries and thunder thighs! My takeaways; - her story is anything but inspiring invigorating self love and belief, a belief & hope, to fulfill your dreams. - do not let anyone dull your sparkle if your light is shining too brightly for them. - not going to let others control my peace of mind. - make your own mistakes. Own your life. This book reminded me of someone, me. Alas, that version exists no more but am definitely thinking! Que sera, sera.
Kainaz Jussawalla's *Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla?* is a heartwarming and delightful read that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster filled with laughter, cringes, and moments of deep introspection. From the very first page, I was hooked by Kai’s vibrant and relatable voice, with her self-deprecating humor making her feel like a friend sitting across from me, sharing her wild and sometimes disastrous dating escapades over a comforting cup of chai(Chai with Kai, lolz!)
What I loved most about this book is how authentically Kai’s character comes to life. Her inner monologue is unfiltered and hilarious, and I found myself cheering for her as she navigates the complicated world of relationships. Her loving, albeit meddlesome, family and her tight-knit group of friends are also vividly portrayed, adding warmth and depth to the story, reminding us how essential these bonds are to our own growth.
The structure of the book is brilliant, with Kai recounting her romantic history to a stranger in a bar, which pulls the reader into the narrative effortlessly. Each relationship Kai recounts had me alternating between laughing and cringing, yet always rooting for her to find her own path to happiness. It’s not just a romantic comedy, but also a beautiful exploration of self-acceptance, growth, and learning to love yourself before anyone else.
The narration style is an absolute gem, especially with how the author weaves Parsi culture into the narrative. I love how these cultural aspects are beautifully translated into English for ignorant readers like me, making it so accessible and immersive.
The little touches, like the younger days' bullying, body shaming, and those grumbling remarks from relatives, hit so close to home that I actually cried over some chapters. This book honestly felt like therapy in more ways than one.
Kai’s perspective on life and her coping mechanisms—like how the answer to every problem is always good food—resonated with me deeply. And the way she fiercely and hilariously tore into her relatives? It was so refreshing! I wish I had the guts to do that in my own life.
The clever references throughout the book to songs by Bonnie Tyler, Taylor Swift, Disney classics, and even quotes from Rumi were brilliant. They added another layer to Kai’s character, making her even more relatable. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud when Kai kept track of every insult and victory, meticulously keeping "scores and receipts"—especially when it came to BBC.
This book is a delightful blend of humor, heart, and clever observations about life, love, and family. It’s the kind of book that stays with you long after you’ve finished it. Jussawalla’s writing is sharp, hilarious, and poignant, and Kai's journey felt like my own in so many ways.
Whether you’re Parsi or not, you’ll find yourself rooting for Kai and relating to her challenges, triumphs, and, most of all, her love for good food.

A perfect blend of humor and heart, this book is a must-read for anyone who has ever felt the pressure of finding “the one” and learning that sometimes, the best love story is the one you have with yourself.
The journey of self-discovery and self-love is a theme that is explored across cultures and time periods in literature. In Indian literature, this theme is often depicted through the concept of "atma" or the self. The rich history of Indian literature has explored this theme through various genres such as poetry, fiction, and spiritual texts. For instance, the Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita emphasizes the importance of self-knowledge and the realization of the true self. Modern Indian literature continues to explore the journey of self-discovery and self-love through the protagonist's journey of growth and self-discovery. Acclaimed authors such as Arundhati Roy, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni have all contributed stories that underscore the significance of self-love and acceptance.

Kainaz Jussawalla's "Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla?" is a refreshingly candid and delightfully humorous memoir that takes readers on a spirited journey through the romantic misadventures of Kai Juicewalla, a self-proclaimed romantic feminist and proud Parsi. From the very first page, Kai invites us into her world with an unapologetic attitude, delivering a narrative that is as sassy as it is classy. Through her witty storytelling, Kai shares her relentless pursuit of Prince Charming, all while navigating the challenges of battling bullies, overcoming body image issues, and steering clear of bad company. The book elegantly touches upon themes such as heartbreak, friendship, family, and the inevitable process of growing up, all while driving home an essential message: to find true love, one must first learn to love oneself. Kai's unconventional approach to relationships and fierce determination to find love on her own terms make this memoir entertaining and inspiring. In this way, this book transcends the genre of a typical romantic memoir, presenting a narrative that resonates with anyone on a quest for personal growth and empowerment.
However, it took me a little time to fully immerse myself in the narrative, perhaps because it is not the type of read I generally gravitate towards. There were moments where the narrative seemed to drag slightly, which might have been improved with a more gripping pace. Nonetheless, the character portrayals, particularly of the relatives, felt incredibly realistic and added a layer of authenticity to the story. As we journey alongside Kai, we witness her transformation from a young Parsi woman in her late 20s, usually an emotional wreck and frequently chided by nagging relatives, into someone who learns to embrace her true self. This evolution is both inspiring and relatable, making the memoir an empowering piece of writing that will resonate with many readers. Jussawalla’s candidness about her successes and failures in love and life adds a relatable charm to the narrative, making her story all the more compelling.
Even though this memoir has much to commend it, there are a few areas where it could have been improved. For instance, while the humour is one of the book’s strong suits, there were moments when it seemed to try a bit too hard to be quirky. The book might have benefited from some trimming, as it occasionally felt longer than necessary. I think the book should have been around 300 pages. This minor issue could test some readers' patience, though it remains a quick and light-hearted read overall. In conclusion, "Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla?" is a must-read for anyone on a quest for love, personal growth, and empowerment. We enjoy reading those books the most that we find relatable sometimes this relatability is because we have experienced those things but sometimes we found things relatable enough because we have found them nearby in our surroundings. Kai Juicewalla is a book that I found quite relatable and because of that, I enjoyed every page of this book. No doubt that the content of the book is of the next level but this book is written with full of emotions by the writer which makes it even more interesting. There is a normal saying in society that one should marry before 30 but we have seen ample examples where people who married after that particular age criteria are happier than the ones who followed such norms it's not about the age, it's about finding the right one so this book started with Kai's 33 old year cousin getting married breaking all the not so needed norms of the society. Going through the pages of the book we get to know Kai even better and how her known ones, body shamed her though she was doing outstanding when it comes to her career still so-called narrow-minded people left no point to make her feel bad about herself. Through Kai's journey, we also encountered how some elderly married men fraudulently create love affairs with other girls and betray their hearts and the protagonist of this book was one of the victims of this. Shakespeare stated that it's wise to trust a few but it's foolish to trust no one, sometimes circumstances create such situations that it's hard to trust anyone and because of that Kai used to follow the motto of no guy no cry. To know further read the book as I do not want to give any spoilers.
What I like about the book - . The amazing writing style which includes humour too. . The moral lessons as well life lessons. . The intriguing name of the book. . Amazing proofreading.
What I learn from the book - . Your self-worth is far more important than any other thing. . Body positivity is a very important thing and how people's remarks can affect someone so badly. . There are no such age criteria for doing anything so wait for the right time, because of restraint of time do not hurry up to take important decisions in life. . Sometimes our weakness becomes the strongest point of our life. And lastly, one important lesson is, you can not be good with someone else unless and until you gonna be the best for yourself.

Review of “Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla: One Life, Many Loves, Endless (Mis) Adventures” by Kainaz Jussawalla Kainaz Jussawalla through her latest novel chronicles her life story and invites her readers upon a brutally honest, heavily unfiltered and a rollercoaster ride of emotions. She introduces us to her family, friends, lovers, and the beautiful and exquisite Parsi culture. The Narrative is fast paced, engaging and relatable. The language of the book strikes a balance between professionalism and casualness thereby establishing connection with its readers. Although it spans over 350+ pages, the brilliant wit of the author in throwing curveballs at multiple junctures ensures that the reader is able to complete the novel with an ease.and novelty. The author has made usage of Gujarati in certain chapters and that might come as a surprise for few readers who are unfamiliar with the language or the Parsi culture. However, the author has included English translations to provide a seamless reading experience for her multilingual readers. At this juncture, I have to state that Kai is the cutest and I just feel like giving her a big giant hug. What Kainaz has done with her latest novel is not everyones cup of tea. Kainaz through her writing has confronted various societal issues with remarkable strength, courage, kindness and her signature sassiness that you keep smiling with immense pride. As a girl who has a tendency to gain weight the minute I stop exercising or eating right, I have faced the brunt of body shaming by the society, reading this book instilled a sense of belonging and a conviction that embracing my individual identity will trump any attempt of undermining it. Thankyou Kainaz for rekindling that belief in not only me but countless other girls who feel the same. As a lifelong resident of Mumbai who recently embarked on a journey to a new city, reading the novel was like taking a nostalgic stroll down memory lane. A standout chapter, where the dynamic "fabulous four" coalesce at Zoya's home over plates of Panipuri and Chaat, remains etched in my memory as an absolute favorite. This resonates deeply, given that many of my own friendships have solidified over shared meals. Kainaz's memoir is undeniably one of the most poignant and enriching books I've encountered this year, a testament to the celebration of friendship, family, love, and the intricacies of life itself. I I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who has ever harbored a flicker of doubt about themselves. This book, is your must read.
This was a refreshing and captivating read amidst all the mundane work and travel! The title and tagline of this memoir immediately caught my attention and drew me in with its irresistible charm. From the very first page, the author had me utterly captivated by her witty and audacious writing style. Her introduction was simply brilliant, and her one-liners and quirky comments had me laughing out loud way too often! The author's narrative is a perfect blend of humor, candor, and emotional depth. Her simple yet engaging language made reading a sheer joy. The candid and humorous storytelling takes us on a journey to various places and introduces us to a plethora of fascinating people. The Parsi characters in this memoir had me in splits. They were charming and entertaining! I was also able to capture the essence of the Parsi culture. As a former flight attendant, the author shares her encounters and experiences in a way that makes us feel like we're right there with her, experiencing every moment alongside her. I particularly loved the author's portrayal of her relationship with her childhood and airline friends, Krish and Granny B. It was beautifully written and made me feel like I was part of their friendship group. The catchy titles of the chapters and the cover truly reflected her life and is perfectly suited for the memoir. One of the standout moments for me was the author's body-positive message. She beautifully addresses the importance of being comfortable with our bodies, regardless of how we look or what others think of us. Her message on mental health is reassuring and reminds readers that they're not alone in their struggles. Her handling of body shaming, trolls, and rude comments was truly touching and inspiring to see how she handled them. Another takeaway from this book is the importance of prioritizing our happiness over being in an unhappy relationship. The author's message on leaving the past behind and moving forward toward a brighter future is empowering and motivating. Overall, this memoir is a witty, audacious, and unforgettable take on life, love, and lust. It's a must-read for anyone seeking a thought-provoking yet entertaining read. This book is full of life lessons, giggles, and tears, and I couldn't recommend it more highly! It's an absolute 5/5 star read.
First of all I need to say one thing. I am not a good fan of memoirs. I know that now you are going to ask me "then why the hell did you pick this memoir?" Grant me some time so that i can explain.
⚓ To start with the amazing book cover!!! It is simple but my gut feeling said that it holds something beyond it simplicity. Off course, it made me smile and I felt an urge to read it. (I think book covers are designed in such a way to convince the readers to pick it up. And this book cover scores 10 out of 10) ⚓ Secondly it's written by someone who have chubby cheeks just like me. (I swear I am not lying) ⚓ Second, the title that I misinterpreted at first as the story of some juicewala bhai or bhabhi. (Sorry for the same Kainaz) ⚓ And last but not least; its subtitle. The word '(mis)adventures' to be precise. That word took my whole heart. (I am even afraid of adventures and here is another girl who shares her misadventures publicly! What the hell??)
Now you guys tell me, how can't I follow the thief who stole my heart in such a short time? After all, I deserve to know more.
🥳 I am smitten by the writing style of the author. Firstly because of the easy going language and secondly because of the humour. 🥳 I am happy that I got to know more about Kainaz through this book and about how bold she is. 🥳 This book can also be considered as an inspirational read. I felt awe about her carefree attitude in sharing things that are considered as secretive or unconventional. She really inspired me in this and I hope one day I'll also acquire the boldness she holds. 🥳 Learn to figure out the humorous side in serious situations is the second thing that she taught me. She is gifted with an uncompromising skill for the same. 🥳 On her journey to find her real partner she never loses to embrace herself and to keep herself primarily. She knows what she wishes and needs and is not going to compromise for anything less than that.
In nutshell, this book is one of a kind written by a girl who gives not a shit to the fucking mentality of society and will leave a lasting impression on your heart.(It's true in my case and I hope it gives the same impression in your life too.)
Thank you Kainaz for this gem and waiting to read more from your pen. You melt my heart and I promise that I'll keep re-reading it for the rest of my life...
"Who Wants to Marry KAI JUICEWALLA" by Kainaz is a candid and relatable memoir that presents a deeply personal journey of finding true love and embracing one's authentic self. Written in the form of a journal, Kainaz takes readers on an emotional rollercoaster through her real-life experiences, creating a genuine connection that resonates with many women facing similar challenges.
Throughout the pages, Kainaz captures the universal struggles of societal expectations, heartbreaks, and body shaming. Her portrayal of taunts from well-meaning relatives at weddings and the internal battles of a scared heart are not only relatable but also serve as a reminder of the societal pressures that women often confront. As she unfolds her story, the narrative becomes a platform for empathy, allowing readers to understand and empathize with her emotional journey.
Kainaz's vivacious spirit and resemblance to the iconic character Geet from "Jab We Met" shine through her writing. Her free-spirited nature and carefree attitude serve as a beacon of inspiration for those seeking to break free from conventional norms and embrace their uniqueness. Her growth from moments of insecurity and self-doubt to a place of emotional control and liberation is a testament to her resilience and inner strength.
While Kainaz's encounters and date stories are both engaging and entertaining, I personally found myself slightly disconnected from the writing style. The infusion of humor, movie dialogues, and song lines, although an integral part of her personality, didn't quite resonate with my personal preferences. Nevertheless, it's important to acknowledge that this style allowed her to authentically depict her character and personality, inviting readers to understand her on a deeper level.
The book is a reminder that personal growth, self-acceptance, and true love are all intertwined in the complex tapestry of life, and Kainaz's story is a shining example of this truth. While the writing style might not have completely aligned with my taste, the authenticity and relatability of the content make this book a valuable read for those seeking a heartfelt exploration of love, self-discovery, and personal triumph.
Kainaz Jussawalla's "Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla?" is an absolute delight from start to finish. I found myself nodding along and laughing out loud at Kai's adventures and misadventures in love and life.
What I enjoyed most about this book is how relatable and authentic Kai's voice is. Her self-deprecating humour and unfiltered inner monologue make her feel like a close friend sharing her dating horror stories over a cup of chai. From Kai's loving but meddlesome family to her loyal group of friends - are vividly drawn and add depth to the story.
The structure of the book, with Kai recounting her romantic history to a stranger in a bar, works really well to pull the reader in. I found myself eagerly turning pages to find out what would happen next in Kai's quest for love. Her string of disastrous relationships had me cringing, laughing, and rooting for her to finally find happiness.
I especially appreciated how the author weaves in aspects of Parsi culture and community throughout the story. At the same time, I think the book's themes of self-acceptance, friendship, and not settling in relationships are universal.
The writing style is breezy and conversational, making for an easy, engaging read. There's a good balance of humour and more emotional moments as Kai grows and learns to love herself. I did feel the pacing lagged a bit in the middle (I know I am sounding like a movie critic), but overall it kept me interested until the very end.
While the book is primarily a romantic comedy, I was pleasantly surprised by some of the deeper themes it explores, like dealing with societal pressure to marry and learning to define happiness on your own terms. Kai's journey of self-discovery felt genuine and inspiring.
My one minor critique would be that some of the characters, especially the "bad" boyfriends, felt a bit one-dimensional at times. (Yeah, the reason might be I belong to the boyz camp as well :), sorry Kai on that).
Overall though, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, feel-good read with a lot of heart. Kai's story will resonate with anyone who has ever felt like a misfit or struggled to find "the one." I'm looking forward to seeing what Kainaz Jussawalla writes next!
Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla? is an absolute gem, a memoir that had me laughing out loud, tearing up, and feeling deeply inspired by Kainaz Jussawalla's incredible journey.
Jussawalla's writing style is nothing short of enchanting - witty, engaging, and imbued with a delightful dose of humor that had me hooked from the very first page. She paints a vivid picture of Mumbai, capturing the chaos, the colors, and the essence of this vibrant city that serves as the backdrop for her adventures.
But this memoir is more than just a tale of life in Mumbai - it's a tale of personal growth, self-discovery, and resilience. Jussawalla's candidness in sharing her struggles with body image, relationships, and the pursuit of love is both refreshing and empowering.
What struck me the most was Jussawalla's unyielding honesty. She doesn't hold back - she lays her insecurities and flaws bare for all to see, and in doing so, she showcases the raw vulnerability that lies within all of us. But as the pages turn, we witness her rising above her challenges, embracing her uniqueness, and unapologetic zest.
Her journey is not just about finding love - it's about finding herself, embracing her identity as a Parsi bawi, and celebrating the strength and beauty in her uniqueness. Jussawalla's story is a beacon of hope, reminding us that it's okay to stumble, to fall, and to laugh at ourselves along the way.
I found myself nodding in agreement, laughing at her witty observations, and wiping away tears as I empathized with her struggles and triumphs. Jussawalla's narrative is not just a story - it's a celebration of womanhood, a testament to the power of resilience, and a reminder that our imperfections are what make us truly extraordinary.
In the end, Who Wants to Marry Kai Juicewalla? left me feeling uplifted and inspired. Jussawalla's journey is a reminder that it's okay to be flawed, to stumble, and to embrace our quirks with pride. It's a delightful, heartwarming, and empowering read that will leave you with a renewed sense of appreciation for life and all its beautiful imperfections.
" 'Have you heard of the Kingda Ka in New Jersey?'
'Oh yes! One of the world's scariest and fastest roller coasters, if I'm not mistaken? I am petrified of them.
'Atta boy! Now imagine you are on one for the next two hours. DON'T say I didn't warn you!'
This is how Kainaz introduces her life story to a stranger. The exact life that she has presented for us readers too in her recent work - Who Wants To Marry Kai Juicewalla. And trust me it definitely is a roller-coaster.
So is it a memoir? Some gyaan on how to live life? No. It is a memoir but one which is completely raw and genuine. It's about a girl who has always been made to feel conscious about her body. I use the word made because we do see her loving herself otherwise. It's when the so called people with "we just want good for you" ruin good social moments by embarrassing her or when she faces bullying in her educational institution, that her doubt in herself wavers. But overtime Kai has learned how to act around in such situations. And it's not a path devoid of adventures, fun and good friendship.
The book definitely talks about all the crazy fun and crazy necessary experiences the author has faced. If you're someone who likes the usage of a different cultural language in the book you're reading, then loads of Parsi phrases await you. All with due translations. (The TMKOC fan in me was somehow imagining Mrs Roshan everytime I saw a Khodaiji)
The main essence of the book also is about the love life of Kai. From adjusting with a man who deceived her of his marital status to finally accepting that only she matters in her life along with a bowl of fries and thunder thighs. And maybe SRK. Again there's no preaching here in the book, it's the courage of an author who has bared her life to you and said make what you will of it. Just don't forget to love yourself. And thats the beautiful part of it.
On the other hand there were a few points thag felt uncomfortable to me while reading. But it can always be one's own perspective. The book I found to be a lot more like a casual fun conversation.
One of the best and unique writing I have come across. The story is dynamic, adventurous and Kai, the real free-spirited woman, takes us on a realistic rollercoaster ride. "Who wants to marry a Kai juicewalla?" By Kainaz Jussawalla is exactly a bold and entertaining story.
Every Indian women gets through this stage of life, so called marriage, but Kai is even more exclusive when it comes to her age. Everyone tags her as 'always a bridesmaid, never a bride' and that note makes her head hot. She tagged herself as a signature club for losers until that big day arrived. Beginning with the introduction of her Parsi community, her battle as a single woman, worries about a non-existence sex life and love, an unforgettable school life where she wanted to escape from body shaming by her peer groups and many of her life endeavours being not only a girl but unmarried, makes her nerves and hair standupright. She gets tired of finding her love of her life, comes across many boys as a list, but finally, who she finds out makes her love life story a separate track and interesting. Her airline job as flight attendant becomes a turning point and magical(a dream of every girl out there).
The most aspiring thing about Kai is being herself. In spite of being more self-doubted she tries all her ways. Being the voice of every normal girl ( everyone doesn't end up what they wish), but Kai's luck, fortune and efforts are rewarded in the end.
Catchy titles, well categorised chapters, using trendy terms which are in current usage, humorous dialogues, easy narration but fast paced writing-takes your reading unstoppable (even though the book holds a greater number of pages than usual) . There is a hype in all the stages of Kai's life that creates sensation at times, emotional at times and some were like me sitting and nodding to Kai's thoughts and opinions. Experience of penning her second book shows her complete effort and contribution in order to provide a good book as a way to read the next.

"When you pour your heart out on blank pages about your traumatic life, the wrongs, and the anguishes do not go away, but the urge to smash your bully’s face into a wall diminishes slightly."
- Kainaz Jussawaala, Who wants to marry Kai Juicewalla?
Born in a Parsi family to a businessman father who lets his work speak volumes about his personality and to a homemaker mother who was active in donating to social causes, they were every bit supportive of her decisions in all stages of life.
She evaded bullies who ridiculed her physical features and found solace in Granny B's loving arms who pampered her with delicious malai treats and scrumptious mangoes.
Divided into sections that resembled a flight of an aircraft which is probably an ode to her time as a stewardess.
The rawness of the narrative and Kai's vivacious personality shines throughout. The empowering voice proclaiming us to love ourselves booms in the background. Describing each phase of her life with unflinching honesty and raw authenticity, she fondly talks about how familial ties kept her grounded. Kai smartly devised coping strategies and held her own even during high tides. The descriptions of Parsi cuisine wafted a pleasant aroma that tingled my olfactory nerves and aroused the foodie in me. The writing narrates her escapades with a touch of whimsical philosophy.
The scenic locations portrayed in the book spoke volumes about Kainaz as a prolific writer. It made me want to take a train to Mumbai and relive the moments mentioned in the book. The instances mentioned in the book left an indelible mark in my heart due to literary and pop-cultural references. I could correlate her teenage self with my own as I too struggled to find my clique and tried to fit in.
'Who wants to marry Kai Juicewalla?' is a strong empowering account of a self-made woman who's funny, frivolous, and unapologetically herself. Kai defied societal conventions by coming up with no holds barred comebacks that often left the onlookers wide eyed and open mouthed. The anecdotal style of storytelling, a heady concoction of self-deprecating humour gives a personal touch.
Who Wants To Marry Kai Juicewalla?: One life, Many loves, Endless (Mis)adventures by Kainaz Jussawalla .
In a world full of wisdom-filled, educational, and experience-based literature, we kind of neglect books that aren't special in their absoluteness but do make a difference in our lives. Books like these bring together our humanness and feel like a warm hug that is often needed by all of us.
I came across this book in the first week of march, while scrolling through my Instagram feeds and disregarding the notion of "Don't judge a book by its cover". I mean the cover and title itself made me interested in the world that I gradually dived into.
"Who Wants To Marry Kai Juicewalla?: One life, Many loves, Endless (Mis)adventures" is witty, bold, and marvelous in its tone. It doesn't feel like a normal memoir, but a tight slap to the social paradigm that defines the overcritical society we live in today.
Kai Juicewalla is a romantic feminist, a foodie, and a Shah Rukh Khan movie lover, which makes her a relatable and endearing character to the readers. The books take you on a raw, personal, and humor-filled ride of her life that is filled with numerous chapters.
Upon reading this book I was genuinely touched by her attitude toward all the trolls, fat-shaming comments, heartbreaks, and overall outlook toward her problems. Besides that, I have been through this phase when I was called "fat", "ugly", and all sorts of mean names. So, I know how it feels to believe that you aren't good.
But reading this book did put perspective into me my insecurities and their problems. One standout feature of this book is the use of hilarious nicknames for the characters. These nicknames, while amusing, also indicate the character's personality or peculiarities, adding chasm and realism to their portrayal.
At last, I would sum up my review by saying, I want to marry Kai Jussawalla. She is amazing and her life and this book are worth reading. .
My first memoir & how glad I am that it was this one!
THE PLOT: This mad, hilarious, cheesy, enlightening story revolves around a woman on a mission - find food, find husband. No synopsis will do the plot any justice. So instead I'll tell you - it is brilliant. A story so unique & yet one of every other woman. The author brings so much RELATABILITY FACTOR to her narration, it's impossible to stop reading - a rollercoaster, with funny anecdotes (a toast to pichkaris and popats), measured motivational quotes (All Hail the Krish) & sprinkled w foodie tadka. Something for everyone!
THE WRITING: Easy, accessible, balanced, witty, humorous, v annotation worthy, fantastic pop culture references + CATCHY CHAPTER TITLES💙
THE CHARACTERS: My second favorite part of this book is its wonderful execution of character sketches. I loved every one of these bizarre characters, again because you KNOW you've met them somewhere. The FMC turns out to be a firecracker & oh-so-lovely!
THE ESSENCE: The book covers a lot - from the hypocrisy of annoying relatives, to bullying to body shaming to misogyny, romantic (mis)adventures to self discovery & self love. It highlights the flaws in our society w subtle flair. Using humor as a shield, it stays away from lecturing you. The most motivational aspect to the book is IT DOESN'T TRY HARD TO INSPIRE YOU. It calls a spade a spade & that brought so much authenticity. Reading Ms. Juicewalla go from blissfully delusional to brutally honest in a span of 3 pages was DELICIOUSLY CHAOTIC.
THE FOOD: I annotated all food related references & metaphors in BRIGHT PINK. Undoubtedly my favorite thing about the book is it turns out to be a culinary experience of some sort, I ended up salivating and drooling throughout.
In conclusion, I have never read a book with SO much personality. I finished it an immediately made my mom read it and that's high praise. It is fresh and it is worth it - you should pick it up NOW!
