Westward Western Saga)

The Gallows: A Classic Western Adventure

Rate this book
A classic western novel from Frank Wheeler with non-stop epic adventure and a blend of western romance

Johnny Price lost his badge.
He lost his bride.
He lost the future he’d envisioned for himself.
After six years, he’s taking it all back.

It started out like any other day. Sheriff Johnny Price was carrying out his duties when he learned the Gallow brothers had escaped from prison.
The Gallows were born killers. They have no heart, no scruples, and no conscience. Since it was Johnny who put them in jail, it was Johnny they wanted dead.

His fiancé, Brenda, was just a victim of circumstance.
They left her alive, but she was forever changed that night.

Now it’s six years later, and Johnny is alone. Instead of wrangling criminals, he’s wrangling horses. It’s a quiet life, but he likes it that way.
Until the children start to go missing.

Five boys between the ages of eight and eleven up and vanished without a trace. Johnny’s boss’s kids among them.
Now he’s dusting off his guns and going after the men responsible. He never thought it would lead to a collision with the Gallows, or the woman who got away.

Can Johnny find the missing children and right the wrongs of his past?

Each novel in the series is a standalone western which can be read out of order.

Great Western drama.

Wheeler has written a complex story through the eyes of two child hood friends who part painfully but reconnect for a fabulous story’s end. Characters are well developed and the pace is comfortable although it drags in 2 places. Worth your read.

Excellent story line! Very believable scenario. Really poor editing...

Wheeler, you need better editors. They've allowed pursing in place of pursuing, shoe instead of shoo, past in place of passed. And what is with the apostrophe in things? It's just things, not thing's. Gosh!

Good read.

Left at the altar. Now he is no longer sheriff. He became a cow hand. Missing children gives him a new mission. Good story.

Sorry, not very well written.

Started reading and I’m type of person who completes what is started. No matter how painful, I doubt I’ll read any more of your books.
