‘It’s like Jack Reacher got trapped inside an episode of Scooby-Doo and chose to punch his way out!'

Hiding from a past he'd sooner forget, August Watson is unaware of the demented killer looking to remind him that some sins can never be forgiven.

However, before the shadowy figure tailing Sacramento’s only paranormal P.I. reveals himself, he’s going to make August suffer. Between ghostly hauntings, macabre surgeons, and California’s very own vampire menace, the team at Blue Moon have their work cut out and it’s only late into the game they realise there is someone in the background pulling the strings.
On a collision course with his nemesis, can August Watson save the lives of those he holds most dear? Will it cost his own life to do it?

One thing is for no one is getting out of this without a fight.

Doesn't sound like Steve Hicks

I don't know who Alex Gates is but the part of the 1st book I read must have been written by him. I loved the 1st Blue Moon books all 22 of them, and rated them 5stars. I only read the first few pages of the blue moon Sacramento books 1 - 5 and knew it wasn't the same. I loved Steve hicks because his style was fun, different, and made me laugh! I am sad as I was looking for more.

this is not the English series at allr

The Tempest Michael books are funny and cute. There’s some violence on them, but it’s not it’s not played for horror now blue moon Sacramento has a different story altogether. And I found myself creeped out just about in every book. Still a good book but who we and on top of that he speak English when is in England and he speaks American when he’s America I never caught too many odd words out of place. You should read the series starting with blue moon and start with Blue Moon

Psychological thriller with undertones of the supernatural

This series needs to be read in full as the story line doesn't come to a final conclusion until book 5. The books deal with supposedly supernatural creatures which prove to be very real world human beings. The characters are very complex and very few are without sordid histories or emotional issues. Some of the crimes are disturbingly graphic and may give you nightmares. Don't read unless you enjoy horror.

just finished this series. Sure doesn't sound like Steve Higgs at all, sadly. A bit more horrific, I'd say. But they kept me interested enough to finish. I like the characters; they've been developed nicely.
