A Mark of Imperfection is the 6th Books in this series and WOW, what can I say it's great to have the unique team back together with their own quirks I have come to love to yet solve another crime. This book can be read as a standalone if you want. It's as the characters are now friends and you really truly empathise with them and feel what's is happening to them.
This series is maturing with every book as we go along. Getting to know the characters, yes some we love and others we truly hate and OMG did I want to slap KFC (aka DI Kevin Caldwell) so much in this book I was even gritting my teeth lol, you'll understand if you pick this book up and read it.
It has all you need from a brilliantly written story, captivating, engrossing and twists and turns to keep you engaged throughout. I always feel a little sad when I finish the last page of the book. But as always looking forward to my next instalment of DCI Evan Warlow and a little cute dog called Cadi (bless).
I highly recommend this book or series you won't be disappointed!!!

I absolutely love the Evan Warlow books, Rhys Dylan manages to combine great characters, engaging storylines and great dialogue.
The dynamics of the team are wonderful until they are lumbered with DI Kelvin (KFC) Caldwell, who manages to rub pretty much everyone up the wrong way. And who I could cheerfully have slapped all day every day and twice on Sundays!! This is a fabulous read that has you hurtling towards a thrilling climax once all the pieces begin to slot together.
I'm glad that this book saw Evan finally opening up about his condition, albeit when his hand is forced by circumstances beyond his control.
Love Gil, he reminds me a lot of an ex copper I knew in Cardiff
Only thing with finishing a fabulous book, is you're on tenterhooks waiting for the next one in the series. Can't come soon enough for me

This latest book was just so great and I've read and waited for them all.
I give this an A+ for well done and a cast of really wonderful stories all wrapped up into one. Read this novel as soon as possible.

Book 6 in the Black Beacons Murder Mystery (DCI Evan Warlow Crime Thriller) Series and they just keep getting better. All the team are back, Jess, Gil, Catrin and the wonderful and ever gullible Rhys, in this latest case involving Warlow’s nemeses the Geoghan’s. However, there is a new member of the team, DI Kelvin Caldwell and what a horribly irritating, misogynistic and rude man he is; I wanted to slap him more than once! As always it’s brilliantly written and could be read as a stand-alone but why would you when all the books are great.
Briefly, a group of young hikers come across a shocking scene; a table set up in the middle of nowhere with a dead badger, sheep and crow sitting at the table alongside two dead people. Assigned the case, Jess is appointed SIO in view of Warlow’s history with the Geoghan’s. Who is the killer and will they strike again?
Alongside the main story is a thread about Megan, Jess’s daughter, who has taken Cadi, Warlow’s much loved black labrador, away on holiday with her. But Cadi goes missing - I can’t say more without spoilers but this hard heart might have shed a little tear at one point! Full of twists and turns there are some pretty gruesome parts to the book but there is also some wonderful humour and the camaraderie of this team is heartwarming. In case you hadn’t guessed I loved it.

It's great to have DCI Evan Warlow back with his team in A Mark Of Imperfection this is book 6 in the series but can easily be read as a stand alone. ( I would recommend that you read the whole series as you get a feel for the characters).
When some young people completing their Dike of Edinburgh award scheme come across something horrific Warlow's team are contacted to investigate but once its established that it involves the Geoghans (Warlow's Achilles heel) the decision is made that Jess will head up the team. But when DI Kelvin Coldwell (KFC) is also told to work with the team things get a little heated in the office.
This is a very strange and intriguing case for the team but like any family they all pull together, except maybe one new member of the time.

This is the sixth book in the DCI Evan Warlow series & can easily be read as a standalone. But, why do that to yourself? start at the beginning & enjoy how this cohesive team work & laugh together. Except KFC - the less said about him the better!
I love these books, the characters are old friends & the setting is part of the world I know reasonably well. This book is a tad darker than the rest - amongst the team & subject matter.
The opening chapter is an absolute belter &, although technically a police procedural, the action doesn’t stop. A macabre tableau is discovered by a group of youngsters completing their Duke of Edinburgh award scheme & the victims are well known to Warlow.
An intriguing case which went in an unexpected direction. I loved it & can’t wait for the next one, just one request…MORE CADI PLEASE

A Mark of Imperfection by Rhys Dylan is book 6 in the DCI Evan Warlow series. They are set in Wales. These books get better and better and they were great to start with. His team are back with him – Jess, Gil, Rhys and Catrin and of course his friend, Cadi his dog. The book is sprinkled with humour, some places where you just have to laugh. I love the way Rhys paints the scene – I can see it in my mind. A group of hikers doing their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award come across a horrific scene and Evan is brought in to investigate as it involves his old nemesis, the Geoghans. DI Kelvin Caldwell is on the team and he badly affects their cohesion. You can feel the tension he creates in the group. I cried at the end. Highly recommended.

The couple that Evan helped to put in prison who has been sending him threatening letters for years has been found dead. Since Evan was involved in their case, Jess is the SIO; unfortunately Mr. Obnoxious, KFC, is added to the team. Things get worse when Molly loses Even's beloved dog Cadi, but when they believe they have found the final missing piece, things get really grim. I'm addicted to this series: they are well written mysteries, I've learned a lot about Wales, and I like the camaraderie of the team.

Since the first book in the series, DCI Evan Warlow has been receiving threatening notes from the wife of a vicious fraudster he had helped to put in jail a decade ago. He was released on medical grounds recently and then both of them disappeared and now their bodies have been found in a macabre scene in a remote forest. Based on Warlow's previous involvement with the couple, DI Kelvin Caldwell aka KFC, is assigned to work with the team despite their lack of enthusiasm for the idea. This was compulsive reading at its best, I had to know how it was going to end and it did not disappoint. Although most of the series could be read as standalones, the reader will definitely benefit by reading in order to fully appreciate this instalment.

Evan Warlow is back in the 6th instalment of Rhys Dylan’s vastly underrated detective series. This one starts to tie up events from the previous books so highly recommend this series is read in order. Wonderful setting as always and some superb dialogue adding humour to a somewhat grisly storyline. What makes these books is the amazing characters, all totally believable each with their own personalities that give them a true to life feel.

This really is a good series. A touch of Mads Mikkelsen’s Hannibal about the grandiose murder but a throughly down to earth procedural with melodic Welsh place names I couldn’t begin to spell, and lots of references to biscuits.
Gorgeous narration, once again, although the sentence emphasis was sometimes a bit quirky. You could almost see the line breaks on the page.
Only niggle is that the title is pretty obscure but that’s a very small matter in an otherwise great book. Glad there are so many more.

Breathtaking story!
A runaway train of a story, with the usual twists and turns, brilliant (Dad!) jokes and an astonishing climax. The final scene brought real tears to my eyes.

Another captivating murder mystery that was hard to put down.
Dylan has developed interesting characters that readers can relate to and begin to care about as well as others who we vehemently dislike. This one had me worrying about one member of the team and cheering on others who stepped up when needed.
Once again, the twist came near the end and totally flawed me. I had to read the line when the reveal came three times to make sense of what I was reading since it was not expected by me at least.
Some issues were resolved well in this novel and I look forward to reading the next in this series.

This is such an incredible series and this was one of the best. Between guilty secrets, conspiracy and a wave of emotion, it will keep you on your toes till the last word.

A wonderful author. I have read six in this series and they just get better. These books also explore a part of the world I am not familiar with, with exceptional detail. Worth the read.

I really enjoy Rhys Dylan's Evan Warlow series. They are quite good police procedurals, so if you like that genre, these are thoroughly enjoyable , well written, and I like learning more about Wales as I read them. I have started looking up many of the locales in Wales that appear in the books. Five thumbs up!

Another great DI Warlow and team's story.
This time ECO Warlow has to deal with the consequences of one of his previous cases. There's an unhinged fellow who is out for revenge on Warlow and an ex colleague. An officer from another team is drafted in and he causes a lot of dissension. On top of all that the ECO had to deal with an emergency in his personal life. With all that it is obviously a fast moving story. A top story well told.

Love the humorous banter, the settings, the plot, the characters...that is, except KFC, the teamwork, the loyalty, the gruesome problems to solve, really everything. It is also interesting that bits from the first book continue to haunt Evan. Cadi is such a dear and thank goodness for the happy ending!!!

This series gets better and better. What a superb storyline full of twists and turns. All the cha are growing and working together so well.
I love how the Welsh countryside is described. And also the nod to the Mabinogion. Brilliant.

Another superb book by Rhys Dylan
I don’t want to give anything away so you’ll just have to read A Mark of Imperfection for yourself! DCI Evan Warlow are called to a corner of their territory in Wales where a bizarre killing took place. Wil KFC get his due? Will Rhys ever catch on? Oh yes, this is well done.

Another great read from Rhys Dylan and an overdue catch up with Warlow and the team, this is the sixth instalment in a great series of books. The author has become a firm favourite where I don’t really need to read the blurb to know I will enjoy the book. A well written storyline with some great characters and well one absolute (insert insult) character. A fast paced book that doesn’t really let up, something going on all the time grabbing my attention and not really letting go till the last page.
