These bear shifters HAD one The first to mate becomes alpha. Now that’s done, and the rules have changed. If they don’t find their fated mate by the full moon, they could be lost to their inner beasts forever. Let the mating frenzy begin!
Hawthorn never saw himself as the mating type. In fact, he’s spent a lifetime keeping females away from his clan for their own safety. But now they have an alpha and others will come. His people need him now more than ever, and that means he must take a mate himself. Ready or not, he accidentally finds her when brawling lands him in a human hospital. Sassy, smart, and so pretty he can’t ignore his bear’s claim.
He knows they’re fated, she needs convincing.
Her difficult past keeps her from trusting him, and on a scale of one to grumpy, she’s got him beat. But he knows there’s more to the jaded nurse who makes his pants tight and his heart want things he never thought he could have. He sees the tenderness she tries to hide when she looks at him. The way she craves more. And he’s ready to give her everything. But he’ll need to lower his defenses to get past hers, and show her when it’s right, falling in love doesn’t mean falling alone.

Hawthorne isn't my favorite. He has spent so much time being an asshole to "protect" Asher and others. I thought maybe he could learn that that was not helpful during this book. But instead, Asher accepts that Hawthorne did it to protect him.
This is definitely insta love but not quite as fun as the first book. Hawthorne was a virgin which I like.
I really enjoy the interactions of the younger shifters.
I went into this with SO MUCH EXCITEMENT... dual virgin fated mates where the FMC had a bad history with shifters and loads of trust issues. Angst-away, my friend!
The only way to destroy a book like that would be to have the plot and backstory for the FMC be so heartbreaking that the reader CRAVES vengeance for her. And then drop a stinky shit all over it by having the FMC reveal nothing ever happened to her abuser and *shrugs* like it's no big deal?!?!?!
What????
SPOILER WARNING
So a jealous fox shifter clawed her up so bad that she ended up in the ICU and lost her uterus when she was in college. The mate of a supposed best friend. And you never got reported it? Never saw her charged? Never went after her yourself?
Nope. FMC just lived her traumatized life, never to get close to a male because she was no longer a "complete" female. (Her words) but she wasn't upset at the person(s) who directly caused this??? Are you fuckkng kidding me?? Plus this is basically the whole backstory for why the FMC has built up walls etc so you'd think it was an important key to the plot. Instead, you just have this woman find her mate and after some big tearful moments, realize she was holding herself back from her own HEA. And cure herself. Poof.

“What happened to the female who hurt you?”
Sody shook her head. “I don’t know. When I got out of the hospital I moved away and finished my schooling elsewhere. After that, I just kept moving.”

Review: This is the second book in this series and it fallows Hawthorne and Sody’s story. Picking up right where the first book left off.
Hawthorne has been badly injured and while unconscious, he’s brought into the hospital where we first meet Sody. The cute little blonde nurse with some secrets who just happens to knows about shape shifters. When she realizes what Hawthorne is, she is on a mission to get him out of the hospital undetected.
When Hawthorne comes to, he is immediately hit with the mating bond between himself and Sody. Now, nothing else matters except making her his! But she has some serious walls that he will have to break down first.
So far these books are short but really good. The connection between these dates mates is intense and quickly turns sexy. I honestly wish they were longer because I’ve really enjoyed it. Looking forward to reading the third book that just came out 😊
Sody is familiar with shifters. When Hawthorne is brought into the ICU where she works, she immediately picks up on his abilities. She has to figure out how to get him out of the hospital where no one can ask questions. He awakens before she can and claims she is his mate. He has spent years preventing mating in his clan, but now Asher has mated a wolf. He thinks the wolf is in danger from Asher and wants Sody to come home with him to help her. When they get to Asher's, she misunderstands the situation and runs. He saves her from getting hurt in the woods and takes her home with him after finding out her car washed away in the flood. Can she open up to him about her past? Trust in the mating bond?
Both books have left questions unanswered. Does she go back to nursing? Will he track down who hurt her?
• Thoughts: I liked this one a lot more than the first one. I felt that even though this one was shorter, there was more depth and more of an emotional connection with the characters. There were parts I felt were more drawn out, but then the parts I wanted more information from I felt I didn't get it. Like her brother.... I wanted more of a story there. But overall, I did like this one better.
Sworn off love, shifter romance. In an effort to stop his Alpha from mating, Hawthorn picks a fight and looses. Luckily when he wakes in a hospital bed it is to the care of his own mate, Sody. I loved both MCs as "prickly pears" with honourable hearts, finding a safe place in one another. Fav Quote: “I only know how I do it, pretty wolf. And with you, it’s for eternity.” This was him laying his heart all the way on the line. “I want to lose myself in you, but I want it to be real. I want to know it won’t end in the morning. That you’ll still want this. Want… me. Just as I am.”
The Truth ~ I loved reading this story. There was so much pain and so much hurt. It explained why they acted the way they did, everything to protect themselves. I loved how he pushed for honesty, and answers. When he realized what she really, truly needed, that was awesome. I was hoping he vindicated her, hint hint. But this pause was sweet, because I do hope they show up again in this series! Looking forward to it!!
This short book is packed with emotion. Hawthorne has to deal with his choices and attitude from his whole life. Sody has to deal with being a nomad possibly finding her place. We feel those big feelings with them. My issue was there is a lot of talking on Hawthorne's part and Sody's is only a few paragraphs at the end. I prefer more balance to dealing with each lead's trauma.
I received this as an arc from The Author Agency and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review.
This was a good fated mates romance. It was the second book in the series and though it could be read as a standalone I would recommend reading in order for the optimal understanding of the whole storyline. I was feeling a bit iffy going into it because I really didn’t like Hawthorne in the first book but he really won me over and I so enjoyed his connection with Sody. It was a good story.
Hawthorne (which I thought was an ass in the first one) gets injured and found so is taken to a hospital.
At the hospital he meets Sody. She isn’t going to take any guff from him. She doesn’t trust anyone but knows stuff about him. He has to deal with his issues which I’m always a fan of people dealing with their trauma, in a healthy way of course.
Word to the wise read these books in order to see the development of the main characters. How fateful that the nurse taking care of him knew about shifters. What an adventure they had getting to and breaking into Asher's cabin, interrupting some "hanky-panky" and during the trip to his place. Action, adventure, secrets and some humor make this book worth reading as they move forward towards their HEA.
Sody has a past that keeps her separate and always on the move as a traveling nurse. When Hawthorne is brought to the hospital injured, she helps him leave before he is identified as a shifter. Hawthorne recognized his mate but she doesn't acknowledge. Good story!
Sody is a nurse and when the ambulance drops off a patient she is intrigued. He is not human by the way he's healing so quickly. She had a bad past with shifters and isn't sure about him. Hawthorne knows Sody is his mate but does she know? Hawthorne is going to prove it to her no matter what. But, will she give in? Great read
Sort and Hawthorne's story was a really good short romance. The characters are all really entertaining and a few funny scenes. Was hoping for a little more closure on Sody's past experience with the fox shifter like what happened with Asher in the end of the wolf series. Look forward to the next one.
This one dug into some difficult emotional stuff, which is fine. I like having my heartstrings pulled. I don't love the trope of "someone damaged my reproductive organs so I can't have children." Plenty of people are infertile without having been attacked, and many kinds of infertility can be treated or worked around. My 2 cents.
Man! Hawthorne is a protector and wants to make sure everyone in the clam is safe.
Sody is a traveling nurse always on the move because she believe she needs to.
Soft doesn’t believe she has a future with a shifter and doesn’t believe in fate. Hawthorne knows he can change her mind because their mate bond is so strong.
This was really good and had a little emotional part.
Intensive Bear Unit by P. Jameson is the second book in the Grow Mountain Shifters series. It is a cute story about how Hawthorne met his mate Sody when he wound up in the hospital where she was an ER nurse. So, Hawthorn, who never thought he'd have a mate, found just what Fate planned for his grumpy self!
I really enjoyed this book📙 from this series, as a bunch of misfits goes this clan are it. Filled with family not by blood but by heart. Can't wait to continue with the next book!
Awesome storyline. Boy needs girl but they are both hurting and need care and lurf to make it happen. Storms, battles and fear of rejection keeps these two apart and yet bring them together.😍 Very well written and told. Your Rocking PJ!
Always a good read with this author, sometimes tense, sometimes funny and sometimes, like this one, a little Heartwrenching. But it all works out in the end. I liked Sody and while I didn’t like Hawthorn in the last book he grew on me in this one. It’s a great read.
Omg I loved Hawthorn and Sody’s story!! It goes to show you that you can put walls up but true love will find it’s way to you no matter what!! This book was all about acceptance and open communication!! They’re super cute together! I’m also glad that Hawthorn and Asher made up!!
she was a nurse on duty in the ER when he was brought in for a bear attack, but when she saw the tattoo on his chest she knew he was a shifter and had to get him out of there. now the journey begins!
Cute fast read that’s absolutely adorable. Loved the fasted paced romance and this was the first in the series I read, and now I want to read the others,
