Being a breacher on the Teams wasn’t a job, it was my drug of choice. Detonating charges, the blast waves going through me, I lived for the rush of tactical explosive breaching. As long as I kept my brothers safe and didn’t eat a piece of frag, I never looked past my next mission... until I screwed up.
Miscalculating a blast zone, I took a hit. Then I was benched from active duty, told I’d taken one too many subconcussive blows, and forced into medical retirement.
Except the Navy wasn’t the only home for an explosives expert. Alpha Elite Security took me in, and I got to keep my addiction—right until a mysterious redhead walked into my blast zone and suddenly, I needed a new fix.
Code Kilo. Detonate.
KILO is a standalone book in the exciting Alpha Elite Series by USA Today Bestselling author, Sybil Bartel. Come meet Kilo and the dominant, alpha heroes who work for AES!
Sybil Bartel is a USA Today Bestselling author of unapologetic Alpha heroes. Whether you're reading her dominant Alpha Elite mercenaries, her protective Alpha Bodyguards, or her page-turning romantic suspense, all of her heroes are sexy-as-sin and unwaveringly Alpha!
Sybil lives in South Florida, and she is forever Oliver's mom.
And good gravy so are these characters. And I mean that in the best way.
I need to start out by saying that I really admire the way that Sybil crafts trauma in her characters. It’s unflinching, raw, and real. In so many books I’ve read where a female main character especially is traumatized, there seems to be an understanding that there is one way for women to process trauma and that way is by considering the emotional needs of everyone else around them. Sybil’s characters challenge that notion in a way that is so real and raw that it can be incredibly difficult to read, but it’s worth it. Because no matter how these characters process their trauma with a capital T, there is a baseline understanding that no matter how messed up they are in the head, no matter what they endured, no matter what they did to survive, they are human and worthy of love and acceptance.
Kilo and Anneliese’s story absolutely fit the bill of real, raw, and heart-wrenching. There were so many times throughout the book that I just wanted to scream but it wasn’t frustration that made me crazy, it was a sense of helplessness. Watching two broken people who spent too long developing self-destructive habits to survive struggle to overcome their fear of letting someone in and trusting is heartbreaking- and it’s real. People are messy. Traumatized people are messier, and their stories should reflect that if they want to be captured in a way that is relatable and honest.
I understood Anneliese all too well; her reactions were so similar to my own when dealing with being overwhelmed and frightened after surviving a traumatic past. I loved how Sybil wrote her, warts and all, unashamedly honest in just how messy this woman’s past was, how she lived in her head, and how turbulent that lonely existence was. Anneliese, like so many of Sybil’s heroines, was not the perfect victim and the underlying message is clear: Anneliese was still deserving of love, humanity, and companionship.
I also appreciated the representation of a particular condition experienced by Kilo. So often when reading about this condition in fiction, it’s romanticized as if “the power of love” can reverse it. It can’t be reversed, but Sybil was unwavering in her crafting of a story and a character who deserved love and devotion regardless of what he survived and how he was scared internally and externally.
This book got me in a way that I didn’t expect. I thought this was going to be super high-octane action since Kilo is all about the kaboom. While there certainly was that, Sybil just went right ahead and blasted away the façade and gave us real and raw emotions as we watched these two navigate a world they were surviving because they wanted to thrive together.
I received an ARC of this book, read it with glee in my jammies, as one does, and then reviewed it.
KILO is one of Sybil's best books according to me. And Kilo is definitely in the top 3 of her heroes. The story had my favourite parts of all her books in one, which worked very well for me. I would even call it her best work even though it's hard to beat her older books like NEIL. Kilo had the best parts of all her heroes, which again, obviously worked for me. I would even call him the best hero Sybil has created.
So much from this book reminded me of Ty's story because of the boat and the, ahem, couch. Like Ludevienne, I liked Annaliese a whole lot too. I think she's the best fmc Sybil has written, in terms of having a backbone and inner strength. She and Kilo definitely needed and deserved each other.
Even though I don't usually read loads of D/s romances, all of it really, really works for me when SB writes it. The smut was piping hot, as usual, so no surprises there. But I also liked how gentle Kilo was with Annaliese at times. Who wouldn't want a man who holds your hair while you puke your guts out? *swooon*
In all her previous books, especially the Alpha Bodyguard series, I'd always yearn for more of the intimacy. More of the gentle and tender moments between the leads. But KILO had just enough to satisfy the romantic in me and give it a well-rounded feel, which is why I love it so much. One thing that did bother me was a part in the epilogue. The whole vibe of that painting was off-putting for me and made me feel weird. This aspect bothered me a whole lot more in DELTA and however insignificant it was here (or rather not if you've read the book) it did make me uncomfortable. I also don't imagine Kilo looking like the cover model. AT ALL. So it did throw me from how I pictured him.
Having said that, I finished KILO in two days and would've finished it faster if life didn't interfere, and enjoyed it immensely. It pulled me out of a slump only to throw me right back in. I would love to dive back in and devour it, but I cannot go through those withdrawal symptoms again.

If you are an avid reader, such as I, then you will understand that when you come upon an author that writes like Sybil Bartel, then you also know that you MUST read everything that she writes. Heck, she probably writes an amazing grocery list!!!!
This latest book, KILO, is the 9th book in the Alpha Elite Series and it DOES. NOT. DISAPPOINT. The characters are intense, honest, heroes and heroines that are strong and courageous, although they don’t think that way about themselves.
One of my most favorite things about Ms. Bartels’ writing is her intense depth of descriptions. Locations, transportation, facial expressions, injuries etc., she has all the details. And a bonus for me, is Google and I have an intense relationship and my vocabulary has vastly expanded.
If you wish to immerse yourself into this world of excitement, adrenaline rushes, heart racing action and the hottest love scenes ever written, this book is for you. You’re welcome!!
Sybil Bartel, thank you for your creative and a bit crazy writing genius! Many hugs to you for another job well done and for your sweet boy.
— vibezz 🎨 age gap [11 years] 💣 trauma/healing 🎨 strong & independent FMC
mini blurb — ✍🏻 After escaping a traumatic situation, Anneliese is an independent woman, full time artist and finally her painting are gaining the recognition they deserve. This until she find herself involved in an arm deal and kidnapped she have to accept the help of a breacher that he might not only blow the ship that became her prison but even the walls she put around her heart.
//
I love them! Finally a FMC that, yes, likes to give control to her other half but also has come character and a back-bone! I really loved the book and especially their inner monologues that weren't at all boring or dispersive.
I'm not gonna lie these books, idk they have something in them I'll eat them up in one or two days top, and basically at this point I'm, for a whole good part, reading them in hope to find a few sparse scrapes of Ghost, I can't tell you how much excited I am for his own book in October, I simply can't.
Sybil gifted me an ARC and it did not disappoint! I’m not sure how I found the whole entire series (both with Luna and Alphas men) but it was my first taste of spicy and I haven’t looked back. Reading the whole entire series so many times over I’ve lost count.
Like all the alpha dominant men, Kilo is a raw, unapologetic, explosive animal. Yet can be vulnerable with his beautiful redhead.
Anneliese’s past gives her strength and she doesn’t shy away from her true submissive self in the end, with a bit of coaxing from one slate eyed alpha.
This series has just gotten better with each step bringing us closer to the allusive Ghost and Blade - can’t wait for their stories to unfold.
10/10 would recommend but start at the very beginning with Blaze and Talon then get lost down the rabbit hole.
Sybil NEVER disappoints with her unwavering heroes. She always writes them raw and real and gritty down to the bone. It’s not cookie cutter fixes and cotton candy clouds, it’s real and it’s epically beautiful. From those hard fought battles for their women’s hearts, to the down and dirty demons inside them that chain them down and hold them just shy of freedom, it’s all a masterpiece of words that keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire ride. You can’t help but root for them even when sometimes you don’t even like them. Even when you want to crawl inside the book and whop them upside the head. Kilo is probably one of the most broken men I’ve read in this series so far. He fights a deeply intense battle and at times it’s so heartbreaking. I can’t count how many times I just wanted to hug that man. One of the things that I love the most about Mrs. Bartel’s books is that the heroine and hero are both so beautifully broken but together they can find some kind of salve to hold them together again. Its not some quick fix, its not one of those "all you need is love and all your problems magically go away" kind of deals. It’s real, it’s relatable, and she doesn’t shy away from the hard things, she faces them head on and allows her characters to grow together in a way that cannot be shattered despite their flaws. I’ve said repeatedly that with each book in this series it gets better and better, and this one was no exception. Kilo wraps his fist around your heart and doesn’t let go. And Sybil pours her heart, soul, blood, sweat, and tears into these stories and you can feel it on every page. Kilo is different to the others, but not in a bad way. He’s still the beautifully broken man who is looking for the other half of his whole, for the lady who can put up with his crap and still wanna be around the next day. We’re all flawed, we’re all human, and we all want to be loved. Even the rough tough, alpha men of AES. With the perfect amount of drama, suspense, and emotional damage, this one will leave you wrecked and ruined, only to pick up each and every jagged piece on the ground and so carefully put them back together to leave you somehow whole again. I will never not be amazed at the power Sybil holds with her words, and each and every time I leave surprised that she topped the last. I look forward to what’s next for this series, even though we are fast approaching the end. And for many more to come after that.
Being a huge fan of this author and the AES series, I, like numerous others, anxiously anticipated the arrival of KILO. And arrive he did! Brace yourself, as there is going to be a lot of turbulence coming your way.
It's best to read the previous books in this series before diving into this one. This will improve your experience and prevent any spoilers.
Get ready to encounter this ultimate Alpha, a battle-tested agent, who asserts dominance in every circumstance. He will expect nothing short of your complete submission. *wink*
With a troubling and difficult backstory, Anneliese is on a journey to overcome the challenges that have shaped her. She is a blend of sophistication and naivety, showcasing both sides in different situations. From start to finish, this story had me completely hooked, with its addictive plot and suspenseful situations that left me breathless. These two are opposites, yet they seem meant for each other. Their connection was a rollercoaster of emotions - intense, passionate, and at times, exasperating. I found their HEA satisfying, especially with the way their specific dangers were resolved. That being said, I still have zero trust in Ghost! [IYKYK.]
The creativity and craftsmanship of this author with these characters is truly impressive. Every member of the AES group holds a special place in my heart, and I love immersing myself in their exciting and demanding world. I appreciate the interactions between Alpha, November, and all the operatives when things go sideways, and excessive measures are required to assure KILO and Annelise’s safety.
I was fortunate to receive a complimentary copy of KILO from the author (thank you), and I am excited to share my review. As with every single other one in this series, when I finish my read, I want the next! Knowing that it will be Ghost finding his HEA, I want it desperately! I highly recommend this author and the captivating stories found in her catalogue. I've enjoyed each of them and highly recommend that you do too.
A SEAL, a breacher, a killer, a dominant, silent to a fault, man who suffers with a TBI.. KILO who could read a situation and determine what needs to be done in the blink of an eye. A protector although he would definitely deny that one. “An Artist of explosions.” And one of Alpha Elite Security’s… elite. Annaliese Laurant, “the redhead” at the heart of the story and of Kilo’s headspace. Of Irish an Irish father and a French art manager mother, she sees in color. Readers be warned you will want to look up paint colors as Annalise doesn’t describe or see anything as mundane as “brown” or “green” or “orange”. And readers will perhaps take on her color palette and see things we take for granted in a plethora of colors. An artist in her own right, she paints landscapes as she travels the world looking for the perfect sunset. A NYC gallery offers her a show of her own which leads her from Milan to the Big Apple. She holds advanced degrees from Parsons as well as a Guggenheim Fellowship. Talented, gifted and beautiful and hiding. Kilo and his boss, Adam “Alpha” Trefor happen to be called to a meeting with an alphabet agent at the same hotel as Annaliese. She is there to met the art-lover Carlos who has purchased many of her painting from the gallery holding her show. The three cross paths in an elevator. And the story begins….. and the race is on. Lots of unbridled passion, intrigue, conflict and trust issues. What are the truths and what are the lies? What of those painting Carlos bought? What of the photography professor who took nude pictures of a young student? What of the Alphabet soup agent who sent AES to locate Annaliese and Carlos in NYC? Can Kilo keep her safe? Will Annaliese find peace and acceptance? “This man said more with his silent understanding than anyone I had ever known.” (P.385)
Sybil Bartel paints a picture with words as vibrant as Annaliese paints on canvas. Readers will not read in black and white but in techno color as they check exactly the difference between umber and amber and yellow and brown. The paints both use are brilliant in capturing on canvas the pictures readers will see or imagine. Readers will learn military words such as “RTB” which stands for “return to base. And the toll it takes on the body to blow up ships/buildings/estates and hideaways. The detailing is exquisite as well as powerful and much needed in understanding Ms Bartel’s Elite Security series. This 9th book does NOT disappoint and deserves a reread.
Wow. Just, wow. As a reader, this one was utterly outstanding to me. Superb & smooth writing that pulled me DEEP into the characters lives as well as the unique & mesmerizing plot. Two completely enthralling & engaging characters that are skillfully made fascinating as well. The reader is almost immediately aware both Kilo & Annaliese are tortured/tormented people but the reason they are is a much more complex, complicated & ultimately heartbreaking reality. And the reader receives small peeks into just what trauma carved these 2 people into what they ultimately became. And these peeks build slowly up & finally allow the reader to fully realize the characters past. And what an intensely & deeply emotional journey that journey is for the reader. I found my heart breaking for Kilo, for a man whose life had been irrevocably impacted by past events in his life that dictated his present yet continually forward ruthlessly despite his handicaps. Who was intractably dominant, in & out of the bedroom, in a manner that this reader found absolutely thrilling & engaging. And Annaliese was no less intriguing with her bone deep determination to escape, flee & rise above the circumstances that had forged her into the woman she became. And while her learned instinct as well as first response to situations was to flee, Kilo's natural dominance locked onto her unrealized submission & assisted her with facing them knowing she wasn't alone. Yet, although Kilo IS intensely dominant & Annaliese tends to be submissive, Kilo very much respects the flame haired woman he unexpectedly finds under his care & bemused interest. I found this to be an absolutely mesmerizing & enthralling book with excellent writing that pulled me into effortlessly from the first to the last word. I read it straight through because I HAD to KNOW what had happened as well as what would happen. I didn't skip anything, did not put it down; I was tormented, worried, heartbroken, frightened, elated for Kilo & Annaliese. I NEEDED to know how their story would end. Ms. Bartel never fails to engage my emotions as well as my heart for her characters & plots & this one is a stellar example. If you love tormented main characters, a unique enthralling plot, intense sizzle, danger, action, suspense as well as a mysterious evil with a huge twist near the end (which >I< didn't foresee), superb writing that makes you a part of the story, not merely an observer: Read this one. Seriously, read it. I loved it & I think you will too.
Welcome again to the world of buffed, strong, possessive, obsesive men from AES. Time has come for our reclusive Kilo to find his match. Both with past experiences shaping them, giving the edge they both need and want in each other, perfectly balanced and beautifully put together by Sybil . I have been reading this one slowly , on purpose. Delayed gratification 🤪 I love all of Sybil's books. The way she puts everything in words is beautiful, her writing has soul :descriptions, attention to detail, emotions, that's what makes her books so good. DPOV is a bonus for me. Gives you a better understanding of both characters, hence instant connection with them from reader' point of view. There isn't many authors I'll go for without even reading blurb, but Sybil is definitely one of them. Every book is an adventure, people and their problems so real that you feel them yourself .
And now KILO .......
"I like my tired on you" .....OMG !!!!!!
Goosebumps seriously 😳 😍 👏 that man owns me. I really thought, yeah, they all are fine, but him, my ....oh ...my .....he definitely has me in his yummy grasp 👊. I didn't know that the book can give you such a hangover, halfway through I new , this book is one of special ones.
I love how Kilo and Redhead fit well together. They are literally made for each other, her softness to his toughness, submission to bossiness ;) 🫠😋, headstorm to calmness pure magic born in very unusual surroundings. Perfect synergy🫠. He lets her adjust ,learn to be truthful and honest with herself, which makes her flourish.
Past trauma and experience ,they don't go away, but by giving space when you need it and acceptance, understanding, you can learn , change, be a new, better, stronger person. Most importantly to have your sidekick, that one person who gets you , by your side , that's the key to success, to love and life in general.
Many thanks to the author for giving me the opportunity to be a part of a team of people getting to know Kilo in advance 😊. It was a pleasure, this one has given me all the feels and tingels. Thank you very much. I'm looking forward to Ghost adventure next. In the meantime, I'll be going back to reread all the other bad boys from Alpha 😆.
* How did the book make you feel?: I had the privilege of reading an ARC of this book. I was so engrossed in this story and my heart hurt for the characters.
* How do you feel about how the story was told?: Bartel’s descriptive writing and imagery is a pleasure to read. I loved the different settings as it felt like I was on a journey along with the characters. As always the military lingo and action scenes are heart-stopping!
* What did you think about the main characters?: Kilo, Kilo, Kilo! My heart broke for him! Blake Carr as the cover model really hit the description of Kilo on the head, too. Anneliese was one tough, complicated cookie. I simultaneously admired her and was exasperated with her. Both of the characters have serious obstacles to overcome which I think Bartel handled in a realistic and tasteful way. Those issues don’t just magically disappear, and that’s real life.
* Which parts of the book stood out to you?: The chemistry between the MC’s was off the charts hot, hot, hot! *fans self*
* What themes/tropes did you detect in the story?: Navy Seal hero, kidnapping, successful artist, BDSM, dealing with a disability
* What did you think about the ending?: Chef’s kiss as only Bartel can write! I can’t wait for Ghost’s story. Also the dedication to her son at the end made me sob as I clutched my own baby. I can’t imagine and I admire Bartel so much for continuing writing and gifting us with her words. I’ve followed Bartel a long time and her books get better and better.
* What is your impression of the author?: Her prose and author voice are unique and a pleasure to write. Her plots keep me hooked. I love the way she writes action scenes and her heroes are alpha and irresistible!
Possible Triggers and Safety: H and h pushing away, murder, domestic abuse on page, kidnapping
There's is so much to say about this book and these characters, but I honestly am at a loss for the right words. I absolutely ADORED Kilo! I must say he wasn't one that I thought would be in one of my top spots for Alphas that Sybil has written, but God that list grows with every book she writes. In my opinion, Kilo is a mixture of Echo,Shade, Preston, and a unique style of his own that is so deliciously intoxicating. It was hard to put the book down.
The way Sybil is able to write any experience with such detail as if she's personally experienced each traumatic experience, illness, accident, etc. That is why I say she is by far the best author I have ever read. She lives through her words, and she makes all of us live through those words as if we are experiencing it first hand.
Kilo and the heroine both have their struggles and issues. Their trauma responses to said issues are written so beautifully that you feel their sorrow, their agony, and their calm. But you also feel their pull. Their attraction sizzles on the pages and makes you long for a happy ending to combat their pasts. If ever I've rooted for a couple to make it through, it was this couple.
I have said this before, but I would gladly scream it from the rooftops, Sybil has a gift like no other! Saying she is talented is almost an insult because it is downplaying her absolute gift! She is in a league of her own when it comes to writing. NOTHING compares, and I will die on that hill. The attention to detail and the easter eggs and teasers placed in each book to bring us around full circle and entwine all of these stories is genius level. Move over Einstein, you have nothing on our Queen B! Read it, re-read it, and tell all your friends.
I don’t say this lightly, but hands down, this was the HOTTEST book in the entire AES series. Kilo and Anneliese’s chemistry was explosive, but despite their physical connection, Kilo and Anneliese shared such a profound and beautiful intimacy that elevated every interaction between them. It was raw and gritty, but the progression of their trust for one another was so beautifully conveyed. Whether through his dominant silence or his tender actions, he met Anneliese with such a deep understanding that implicitly helped her confront her own reservations about her inner self. At face value, it’s hard to see what an artist and a breacher have in common, but when you put the two of them together and follow the progression of their circumstances, the arbitrary numbers add up in perfect concordance❤️
I loved absolutely everything about this book!! The high-stakes action was phenomenal and once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down. Kilo was next-level, and his competency, unconventional intelligence, and formidability were hot, hot, HOT, not to mention the words that came out of his mouth at times…OMG!! Anneliese is quite possibly my favorite FMC from the series. Sybil flawlessly wrote her chapters in a way that conveyed her strength yet also introspected her motivations and past traumas. Just like Kilo, my heart hurt for Anneliese at times, but I also respected her so much. This book obliterated me in the best possible way, but I couldn’t get enough of it—that’s how much I loved Kilo and Anneliese!!
Get ready to be swept away into an incredible world that the author has created. Another captivating and gritty story by Sybil Bartel. Kilo is the latest book in the Alpha Elite Series. Kilo will take the reader on a rollercoaster ride filled with love, intrigue, alpha male, angst, realistic characters and suspenseful situations. Kilo and Anneliese’s story is intense, heartbreaking and an addictive read. I absolutely love Kilo and Anneliese.
Kilo is a possessive and dominant alpha male. Anneliese is working to overcome the challenges that have shaped her life. Kilo and Anneliese are broken people who are perfect for each other. The chemistry between them is explosive.
Kilo is a unique story that is well-written with well-developed characters. It has many twists and turns, heart-wrenching, full of emotion, alpha male, suspense, raw, action packed, romance, love, all the feels, and so much more. Sybil Bartel always writes intriguing stories with incredible characters that allows the readers to become invested in the characters and their lives. Get ready to be blown away with this seductive and addictive story. Kilo is raw, gritty, and realistic. I highly recommend Kilo.
Story - ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ Chemistry - 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Characters - ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ POVs - Dual POVs Recommend - Yes Series - Alpha Elite Series
This story is about a young artist named Anneliese Laurent and another member of AES (Alpha Elite Security) Kilo aka as Kavan Darach King an orphan because his sister the only person he loved blew up in a car that they had stolen to get away from their parents and their drug addiction. He watched her died in the explosion. He was passed around in Foster Care and when he was old enough he went in the service and became a Seal. He had one of the most dangerous jobs, he was an explosive expert. This story was pretty good. These are two broken people whose lives almost run parallel. She was trying to find someone to fill that lonely place in her having been raised by a French gallery owner who wanted to prove to the world she could do it one her own and a father that her mother rarely let her see. These two met because Kilo was working for his boss Alpha on an assignment going to get a mafia cartel boss called Carlos aka the butcher from Mexico and he was trying to find out where he had ammo and de story them. She happens to cross Carlos path because her ex boyfriend wanted to destroy. her body and soul and used their mafia connection to get Carlos to do his dirty work. This book had a good plot and their was good build up of these two characters. I have been reading these books out of order but I am going back to try to go in order the rest of the way having read Whiskey first.
Kilo, Kilo, Kilo.... this guy..... how do you sum him up. Complex, crass, loyal, damaged, lost, and a man with vices that help him keep fighting the demons.
I spent a lot of time pondering this book, as always Sybil has written another epic story in this series, with another two super awesome characters who have very interesting and heartbreaking back stories. For sensitive readers there could be a few trigger points.
Initially I took a while to warm to Kilo, but as you learn more about his past, what makes him the man he is today, you really get him. And when I say get him, I mean you feel him.
Anneliese was incredibly brave and strong, she owned her life lessons and demanded more for herself.
I loved that these two broken people that are clearly meant for each other, like 2 halves of a whole. Kilo respected her boundaries, he was brutally honest with his wants and needs, but never took more than she was willing to give.
When the sun comes up in the morning at the start of a new day, the sun light brings color to the world. Kilo's color...........RED.
One click this, enjoy.
p.s. am beside myself waiting for Ghost....he is my most anticipated of the series, squeeeeeee
I found myself grappling with the challenge of expressing the profound impact Sybil's work has had on me. She didn't just write a story; she orchestrated an emotional symphony that left me utterly wrecked, only to then blow me away and meticulously piece me back together—mirroring the intricate dance of her protagonists who did the same to each other. Brace yourself for a literary experience that transcends the ordinary; Sybil Bartel has woven a narrative that defies expectations and lingers in the soul.
Quote: "I like my tired on you"
Sybil reigns supreme in the realm of military stories! Her craftsmanship is awe-inspiring, gripping your attention with angst, drama, and suspense, leading you on an exhilarating journey. True to form, this book, like its predecessors, is filled with action, drama, explosive chemistry, and characters whose emotions become your own. I wholeheartedly recommend not only this series but all of Sybil Bartel's phenomenal books.
Sybil Bartel is quite literally back with a bang when it comes to Kilo, the ninth book in her Alpha Elite series.
Whilst high-octane and action packed, Kilo and Anneliese’s story is also gritty, heart wrenching, raw and incredibly real when it comes to the way in which people deal with the various trials and tribulations life has thrown at them, in particular those who consider themselves to be broken, which is the case for both Kilo and Anneliese. Two broken individuals drawn towards one another, learning to overcome their fears and self destructive behaviour, they may not be perfect but they’re perfect for one another.
This one is an absolute must read, in my opinion it’s the best one of the series (so far), it’s certainly the hottest 🥵🥵, that man and his mouth… wow, just wow. Flawlessly written and perfectly executed, till next time… over and out.
When the universe sets in motion a collision course for you and your person, either embrace it or walk away. Such a dilemma. It was hard earned for both of them, their pasts, their present, and future happiness all depended on their ability to give over control … to help build trust in each other. If colour could be tasted Sybil can describe it. Highly recommended read. I love how there are previous MC’s continuing to support and feature through out this series. I love that all the characters have their own space and time to reflect on their past trauma, perceptions and try to find a way to communicate their best intentions. Such a fast paced story, beautiful souls and protectors. Why 5 stars for this advanced copy review, I enjoyed so much, it fits in with the series and continues to build the world they all live in. Can’t wait for the next instalment!
This author really knows how to write thrilling, steamy, suspenseful romances with dominant, super alpha heroes. Kilo starts us off early on with a bang with intense, suspenseful scenes that leave you anxious to see what will happen next and doesn't really let off until the very end. I loved every minute of reading this book. It was even more steamy than usual and we really get to see Kilo and Annaliese as they connect and interact and have a lot of time on page together. I loved reading Kilo and every minute on page with both him and his woman.
The Alpha Elite series has really hit the spot for me with the over the top Alpha heroes and all the mystery and action and suspense. I love that in each of these books, we get to have glimpses into some of the men we have gotten to know from the previous books and the ones whose books are still to come. Kilo doesn't disappoint in that regard and now I'll be desperately awaiting Ghost, the next release in this series!
Well what can I say? I have written several well-deserved 5 star reviews over the years but occasionally a book comes along that just blows all those out of the water. Kilo is certainly one of those books! In Kilo and Anneliese we have a hero and heroine both damaged and traumatised who both at times lash out and attempt to self-destruct and yet in the skilful hands of Sybil Bartel we can understand their actions and empathise with them. This book takes us on a high octane roller coaster of a ride, action, romance, steamy scenes, but it is also so much more! An absolutely beautifully written book by an incredibly talented author and ultimately a beautiful romance. All I can say is that neither 5 stars nor my review can actually do this book justice, I am totally lost now I have finished this book and cannot wait for the next instalment
Ladies...if you are looking for your next book boyfriend...look no further. KILO, the next addition in the Alpha Elite Security series just keeps getting better and better. I love how each of Sybil's alphas has a special skill set. If you've ever been curious about what an explosion expert does, look no further. Can I also say how damn sexy Kilo is? Like the way Sybil describes him? That dark inky hair that falls into his eyes....those eyes that are almost colorless, yet so piercing....GAH! Every time I look at that cover does something to me and I love when covers of books and the descriptions within the pages ADD UP!
If you are looking for a dominant, alpha book boyfriend with a side of hot, alpha secondary characters that Sybil is known for delivering, don't hesitate in grabbing this latest edition! You won't regret it!
There are few authors that can create such vibrant, vulnerable, raw characters - Sybil is a master. Her books are always an automatic pre-order (and stay up all night reading the very second it hits my kindle)…Kilo lived up to the hype. As we expect from our dear Sybil, the story is action-packed and the pace is perfect. And as is true to her style, her characters are not perfect - I love the congruency she gives Kilo and Annaliese. At its core, Annaliese’s experience is one that many women can identify with, and her resiliency is woven so delicately throughout the book. The main characters complement each other perfectly - a soft, beautiful artist and a strong alpha male. But they also reflect each other as well, bringing out the best in the other. Their chemistry is explosive and completely blew me away (all puns intended)!
Sybil, my dear sweet amazing friend. I cry writing this as I just read your loving words to your son. Jack and Oliver are the same age and I feel this every time I read your words to him. I am always thinking about you and your strength and your ability to live on the memories. Much love to you. KILO had so many feels, not sure why this had more of them than some others but you had me from the first page. I loved the meeting of the K and A through to each step and progression of their story. Such great action scenes and of course seeing all the Alpha cameos makes the book so much more. Bombs, car chases, diving, flying, running and the most amazing scenes with my favorite combat medic, lol. Sybil you continue to amaze me with your talent, strength and perseverance. This is a must read <3.
Wow, another amazing book in this brilliant series. I don’t think there are enough words to describe Kilo, I really loved him! How he dealt with his issues was unreal, he just carried on the best he could and did a great job. He was described so well both physically and mentally I could picture him perfectly.
The action within the book was perfect and the action in other areas was hot! The connection between the 2 of them was electric and they were so meant to be. I loved the appearances from Alpha, November and am become more and more intrigued by Ghost and Blade and can’t wait for their stories.
The acknowledgment at the end made me cry, Sybil the strength you have just humbles me, you are so strong and amazing. Another great book and 5 star read.
2/5 I really wanted to enjoy this one, but unfortunately it didn’t land for me the way it seems to have for many other readers. While the story is very detailed and the opening feels almost cinematic—like watching an action movie—it dragged a bit at the start. Then, once the two main characters finally interact, the pacing swings sharply in the opposite direction and escalates far too quickly, which took me out of the story rather than pulling me in.
I didn’t end up finishing the book, making it about halfway through before moving on to my next read. That said, I wouldn’t put too much weight on my review, as I’m definitely more of a slow-burn reader who prefers gradual tension and relationship development. This one leaned more toward instant intensity, which just isn’t my personal preference. If fast-paced romance is your thing, this may still be worth checking out 🤓
Sybil Bartel is one of my favorite authors. Each book continues to not only impress me but also amazes at how she continues to come up with original stories. I have my favorites in this series, rated on if I can visualize the story. Kilo had me losing myself in the book, reading it as if I was watching a movie, and I didn't want to pause to even sleep. Talk about losing track of time, and then asking myself what just happened. The book is that good. If you haven't read her at all, it's time to start. If you read her routinely, it's time to be weighed down by a whole Kilo. You won't want to put down this one until you get to the last page. Then you might just start it over.
Kilo by Sybil Bartel delivers a scorching-hot romance set against the backdrop of a gritty, contemporary world. Bartel expertly weaves together passion, danger, and suspense, creating a story that is as steamy as it is captivating. The chemistry between the two main characters leaps off the pages, igniting a fiery romance that keeps readers hooked until the very end. Kilo is a must-read for fans of steamy contemporary fiction. Bartel’s writing is addictive, drawing readers into a world filled with desire, danger, and undeniable attraction. If you’re looking for a book that will leave you breathless and longing for more, Kilo is the perfect choice.
