Dr. Juliet Sansus is the well respected Head of Cardio-thoracic Surgery. She has worked hard for many years to become an expert in her field, but it has come at the expense of her personal life. Her husband has recently left her for a younger woman and Juliet has been left alone and fearing the changes that age is bringing to her.

A new young surgeon is brought onto Juliet's team, Dr. Arya Harris. Arya is smart, beautiful, alluring and openly gay and Juliet finds herself captivated and intrigued by her and suddenly having doubts around her own sexuality. Never before has she questioned herself in this way.

"Is this ok?" I murmur as I take a second with my mouth not on her.
She looks down at me and smiles her most beautiful smile.
"Yes, please." Her voice is breathy and earthy and more sexy than I have ever heard it.

So melodramatic 🥱🥱. *Inhale*. We follow Julia (h) a heart surgeon (obviously). She recently divorced her husband because he cheated on her but he's actually not made out to be a cartoon villain which was refreshing. So, she realises she likes women because Arya (h) starts working with her and she's mesmerised. In her own time, Julia explores her sexuality a bit more, and eventually her and Arya begin a no-strings-attached arrangment. Usually, I think these are really fun.

This was not really fun. The sex was so bad and boring 😭😭😭. The dialogue was unmoving and the sex scenes were just kind of?? There?? There were like three. Then is the fact that, for a novella, these characters have some serious trauma to unpack.

Must these authors add all this drama and backstory to a novella? I mean, Arya has this backstory of her mother being an alcoholic and prostituting herself with Arya in the house 😃. I'm not saying this doesn't happen, but this is far too common of a backstory. Cheaply done imo.

Because of this trauma, Arya doesn't do commitment (see where this is going)? So, after Julia decides to randomly spew the ILY speech, Arya does the whole *sniffle* 'sorry I can't' and resigns from the job 😗.

This is age-gap, which I usually don't love but it works for me sometimes. That's when the older woman is mostly endearing and sweet, and the younger one a bit cheeky (à la Mistakes Were Made). It felt like the book might hint to that dynamic but it never really got there. It was just indeed...bland. I mean Arya has a go at some teasing/dirty-talk but it felt out of character for her. Meh.

The writing itself was also not that great. A lot of description of sparks flying etc. yet I wasn't feeling any of it 🤷‍♀️.

Overall, not worth it I'd say. Lack of chemistry, didn't hold my interest, excessive/irrelevant drama and not enough (good) sex to save it. I actually liked the cover though - sue me.

An easy read. Some nice smut scenes. A very good plot. I did miss some better development in the beginning, tho. It kinds of rush into the start (maybe?). Still worth it.

Nice romance with some twists and turns

Well written and plotted. Nice fantasy, don't think it's real or that someone chages that much for love, sigh it would be nice but its not real. But this is fantasy romance. Don't try it in reality you will be hurt...

Sensual, sensitive love story

Margaux Fox presents an alluring, sweet, sensual love story that blooms from the intense attraction between two heart surgeons.

Fox’s leading character is Dr. Juliet Sansus, head of cardiothoracic surgery, whom we meet after her recent divorce from her husband Matt. Juliet finds she’s less grieved by the breakdown of her marriage than by the questions it raises about where life has taken her and what lies ahead for a fifty-two year old woman.

The potential answer to Juliet’s pondering is Dr. Arya Harris, a young but skilled, openly lesbian cardiologist hired by Juliet’s boss while she was on sabbatical.

I enjoyed how Fox develops the friendship between the two women and watching as it deepens into a sexual relationship. But Arya’s hidden past may very well mean the next hearts needing mending are their own.

I, didn't hate the book, but i didn't like how the romance was a little bit rushed, i wanted it to be more of a slow burn. Also i didnt like that it was all around the two main characters, don't get me wrong i know that is the point but like there wasnt any other characters, it was mainly the two of them and to me that felt unrealistic, like they didnt talk or interact with anyone else, idk it felt weir.
other than that i feel like is an ok book, if you like books that go straight to the point, and the spicy scenes and the protagonist where really interesting.

This is a stunning sexy read!

So Ms. Margaux Fox has produced one very hot, exciting read. Sharing the coming out of an older professional woman with a much younger professional woman with issues. It is an intriguing story with wonderfully deep characters intertwined beautifully. I enjoyed the style of writing, the locations (sets if you will) for the action works well for my medical background. In short I loved this book!

A beautiful insight to a complicated affair.

Margaux Fox has been able to portray the two main characters as strong professional woman and has maintained that image throughout.
At the same time she has shown us their truly private lives, at times fraught with high emotions and the true lust and love in intimate detail. A truly beautiful love story.

3.5 stars Enjoyable, hot at times, but needed more editing the last 1/3

I want to say this was well written, and it was for awhile. But then the author got sloppy and didn’t line-edit, so the last third isn’t as sharp as it should be. It didn’t take away from the story, but it was distracting, this 3.5 stars

Good story but needed proofreading!

I really have enjoyed Margaux's books in the past and I did like the story of Dr. Juliet, a seasoned cardio- thoracic surgeon and her young protege, Dr. Harris. However, as a seasoned author, I was surprised at all the typos, misspellings and grammar mistakes. They took me out of the story too many times. I just expected better from her!

Great storyline

I appreciated this story view, I had not read . This perspective, the bright doctor studying to be a lesbian... reminds me of my youth. I knew but had no experience, culture, or friends. It was a different time. I bought a book on how to perform cunnilingus. Made laugh reading the part. Thank you so much. I look forward to your other works.

Healing Hearts

Dr. Juliet Sussus is heart is the cardiologist department and recovering from a divorce. She returns from sabbatical to find that in her absence, a new surgeon has been hired for her department. Dr. Arya Harris is an amazing surgeon and doctor and they merge their talents to form an amazing team. A straight to gay, age gap medical romance. Great series.

Beautiful romance

Beautiful, sexy, emotional medical romance. Margaux doesn't shy from the practicalities of workplace romances, nor does she have them overwhelm the story. The pace is great to build the romance, believeably.

In all, a very fun, sexy love story.

Be Still My Beating Heart

Sexy heart surgeons, my oh my. The journey of two hearts in this story brings the awesome to this story. It's quick, heartfelt, and despite a big obstacle to overcome, there's a happy ending. I highly recommend this.

Juliette and Arts met each at their workplace and started a no commitment relationship. But love got in the way. A very entertaining story with tremendous epilogue. As usual bad editing with MS Fox, must be self Publishing. Love the story.

Toaster-oven age-gap amazingness with hot love scenes and angsty drama. Exactly my favorite ingredients for a story.

Heartbeat Action

I loved reading this story. Finding out the heart wants what it wants. Surgery is not required but a jump start was needed in the relationship department.
