A red-hot, enemies-to-lovers, fake boyfriend, second chance romance, and the conclusion to the Hopelessly Bromantic Duet!

Let me just say this -- fake dating the cocky movie star was not my idea. Especially since he’s my former roomie and, gulp, my secret ex.

But my agent tells me I have no choice since I’m ridiculously overdue with turning in the next big blockbuster love story to my publisher.

Not to mention, ahem, writing it.

Falling for the smooth-talking English hottie once upon a time -- fine, twice -- were huge mistakes that I shouldn’t repeat, but pretending to like the guy who broke my heart is my only chance at saving my job.

That is, as long as no one finds out that every date we go on, every smile we flash each other for the cameras, and every hot, desperate kiss on the streets of Manhattan is absolutely fake.

Except…it’s not. At least for me.

And he can never know…

Contents Include: Snarky banter, sexy dates, hate s-e-x, seduction by a wordsmith, and two strong, stubborn, clever men determined to resist each other at all costs.

Here Comes My Man is book two in the Hopelessly Bromantic Duet by Lauren Blakely. Have you ever loved two characters so much that you are both never wanting the book to end but at the same time, flipping the pages as fast as you can to see how their story ends? Yes? Because that is how I feel about TJ and Jude. I am so in love with them. This is the third try these two were given and they were NOT going to mess it up this time. They both learned from their previous mistakes. This time they would get it right!

It’s been ten months since the ending of the previous book. Ten months since Los Angeles. Now Jude is living in New York and has finally achieved some of the success he has been dreaming of as an actor. But for TJ, he hasn’t been able to write since what happened with Jude. He is so far past his deadline. Jude has gotten himself into a bit of a PR mess and with TJ’s writing block, the agents they share have come up with a plan. They don’t realize that TJ and Jude know each other and have decided they will fake date each other to hopefully inspire TJ and clean up Jude’s problem.

“Regret is my middle name”

Both TJ and Jude are thirty one years old now. Both of the times they were together previously, it was a whirlwind. As they are forced to spend time together this time, they both see it as what it is, one more chance to do it right. To take things slow, to get to know each other the right way. To really open up and share their secrets. They both know that if they mess it up this time, they will never meet another person like the other. They know that they are each other’s “one!”

The dates, the touches, the smiles might start out as fake but soon are anything but. The emotion, the connection, the chemistry between these two in indescribable. And the sexy times, holy wow! I don’t know how Lauren writes these amazing love stories. How she makes me feel so much for her characters. My heart was in a constant state of swoon throughout this book! They both worked so hard this time to get things right! And there is not one but two amazing epilogues. There are also several side characters introduced that we might be seeing in the future!

I finished this book right at bedtime last night. And instead of being able to go right to sleep, I laid there staring at the ceiling, my mind filled with all things TJ and Jude. If you haven’t started this series yet, be sure to check out the little prequel, Shameless Flirt. It’s not required but was definitely enjoyable. Then book one, Hopelessly Bromantic. Then you’ll be all ready for their epic final book. I hope you love these two as much as I did! Thank you again, Lauren, for all the happiness.

"It's your eyes, TJ. I know how the brown in them darkens when you're trying to understand a man, how the gold flecks intensify when filled with affection. How your eyes go all dreamy sometimes when you look at me."

lord i highly enjoyed this. these blakely books will always be polarizing. you'll either hate or like how light and cheesy the stories are. will forever categorize her works as 'cotton candy' reads. also, don't be a nitpicker when you decide to pick up her books. i was admittedly at first but then i realize that i should just enjoy what is being given. i'm here for the swoony and steamy shit and i got those in the end. an easy win.

Yap (popping the P), picking up the second book in this duet was def worth it. No boredom, no frustration with the story whatsoever.

But what the hell is it labeling this one an enemies to lovers? That’s just nonsense. They didn’t hate each other for one second. They were hurt. That’s it. Book two was a sweet and swoony Second-Chance with a side dish of the Fake-Boyfriend trope that got them back together eventually. I really liked it.

"You’re every love story. You’re every romance I write.”

And I can only repeat myself over and over again. The audio, narrated by a full supporting cast was awesome. As were Teddy Hamilton and Shane East in their respective roles of TJ and Jude. And I loved the interview with the both of them at the end of the audio. And the Bloopers. I was laughing real hard at that. *lmao

Also at the end of the audio there is the sweet little novella "I Said Someday" for rock star William and actor Christian finding love with each other.

I really had the best time listening to this duet. The story is very well written, and even though I think it could have been easily one book, I was never bored.

I’m probably at least 85% influenced by the amazing narration from all the cast, but especially TJ and Jude, seriously, 10/10, it’s one of the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to.

The story in itself it’s a 3rd chance romance, where it feels like everything that could happen happens to keep them apart, and once they are finally in the same postal code, we’ll the miscommunication becomes central to their relationship, the angst is angsty, and the inevitable happens.

After all it’s said and done, Jude and TJ have to play a fake relationship that feels straight out of a TJ book, they have to handle their rekindling romance and learn to trust once again in their feelings.

The romance was super swoony, and that epilogue! 😍

The end of book #1 had me scratching my head a bit. Everything that happened seemingly came out of no where and hit me in the face with how over the top and ridiculous it all was. This book righted a lot of those wrongs, thank goodness. But this wasn't an enemies-to-lovers or a fake-boyfriend romance, no matter how you try to sell it to me. TJ and Jude weren't enemies, they had just been hurt by each other and needed to have a conversation. And the whole fake boyfriend thing had me rolling my eyes multiple times because there was so much weight placed on such a flimsy idea that I'm not even sure panned out. I guess I understood how Jude's reputation benefited from it, but not TJ's. If TJ's agent wanted to give him romance novel fodder, he should have just set up a Tinder profile for him and given him a weekly date quota. The good news is that the love story more than made up for the failed trope-a-palooza. I loved TJ and Jude. I loved them in the first book, too, until everything went to shit. They were a 5-star worthy couple. They were funny together and supportive of each other and I full on swooned nearly every time they kissed. There's nothing better than finishing a book and believing that the two MC's were solid and forever and that's how I felt at the end of this duet.

Now for my biggest complaint. While the side characters were all interesting and great, I got annoyed by how obviously their current and future books were being marketed to me. I respect the business strategy (we all gotta eat), but blatant advertising within a story is a total turn off for me. Most books are a part of a series these days and I'm a huge fan of that, but the way the author dangled the side characters' stories in front of me like little potential profit carrots irritated me. Make the characters interesting and I'll want to read their stories. It's that simple. But placing them in my line of sight with the sole purpose of selling me their books is just annoying.

Loved this! Jude and TJ were so good at the pining and the fear of being hurt or rejected. I just wanted to wrap them in a nice blanket and feed them cookies until they figured it out. The ending was just perfect for them.

I'm really enjoying all of the interconnected Lauren Blakely books too and looking forward to starting The Boyfriend Comeback next.

Absolutely perfect ending

I'm becoming a huge fan of Lauren Blakely's MM romances because they're just full of humour, warmth and very little angsting.

They're the perfect read to relax and just enjoy seeing two men get all muddled up in feelings as they fall in love.

In Here Comes My Man we finally get to see TJ and Jude back together 10 months after their disastrous break-up in LA.

A fake boyfriend plot quickly turns back into the real deal with these two who are utterly perfect for each other if they could just get out of their own heads.

When I say they're low angst that's because I mean there's no dumb too-ing and froing, no tortured 'does he or doesn't he', no misunderstanding.

The tension comes from the pressures of people finding out about their fake boyfriend plan but also from the walls they both have.

I loved seeing how TJ slowly started opening up more and giving Jude his truths, while he in turn gained in confidence and began to rely on TJ meaning what he said.

There's great nods to some of Lauren's other characters and introductions to ones who are getting their own stories.

I also love the strong female characters in this book. Jude's agent Holly, his best friend Olivia, TJ's best mate and fellow author Hazel and even dodgy blogger Rikki, who works hard to discover all the Hollywood gossip.

It's a fun read, a seriously hot one and the Epilogues are wonderful.

Goodness, I’ve been anxiously anticipating this follow up since the cliffhanger at the end of book 1 in this duet, Hopelessly Bromantic.

This story picks up right where book 1 left off. Jude and TJ are both struggling with their professional personas in different ways, so their agents come up with the brilliant plan for them to fake date. Last these two saw one another though, things were left on a VERY frosty, very final note.

If fake dating is a trope you enjoy, this will definitely be a fun read for you. And y’all, you MUST do the audio on this one. It includes a full cast of narrators for each different character, like a play, including @narratedbyteddyhamilton, @shaneeastreads (HOT British accent), Sebastian York, and more. It was such a treat.

I do wish there would’ve been a bit more depth in places, like I’ve seen this author do before. But, overall, this is a witty, fun, steamy read that I listened to in one day.

Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun read!

MM Romance
Part 2 of a Duet
Second Chance
This book: 4.25 Stars ⭐️

”You’re every love story. You’re every romance I write.”

Well color me a bit shocked because I loved this, mostly. I almost didn’t read this because I hated the first book in this duet but what made me interested was that I absolutely loved TJ and Jude as a couple. My issue with the first book was they were apart for basically that entire book and not because it was some angst fest either. They were apart to drag this out into a duet and that really just irritated me to no end. Add in the dreaded miscommunication/misunderstanding trope and its amazing I even wanted to pick this book up. This entire duet could have been ONE 400 page book by taking out the extra that just didn’t need to be there and then I probably wouldn’t be ranting in the middle of a 4 star review of a book I like.

TJ And Jude came such a long way from the people they were in book one especially TJ. The character growth was just phenomenal and apparently I am psychic because I predicted exactly what was going to happen. Or maybe 🤔 I’ve just read too many Lauren Blakely books and knew what to expect based on them? I won’t give up my secrets but damn was my prediction swoony. Holy hot hell these two were adorable and I couldn’t stop smiling while reading this. Thankfully 😅 once these two had a conversation there wasn’t anymore time spent apart and the sex scenes I found super boring from book one were gone, replaced with absolutely scorching 🥵 ones. Fuck, these two were just hot together but also so swoony. My heart. 💗💗

BUT this isn’t enemies to lovers and the fake boyfriend aspect is a bit ridiculous although necessary because how else would these two reunite? I was actually ok with it not being the tropes marketed but what put me off rating this higher was all the extra people. Lauren Blakely leaves a lot of Easter Eggs within her books and I usually eat that shit up when my favorite characters from her past books magically appear. This book had a few characters I knew but it suffered from adding way too many new characters that are obviously going to have their own books. I usually don’t mind when authors do that but there were too many and none were mentioned enough that I actually give a shit about any of their stories. They are stories I will most likely read when they are released but they felt distracting in this one especially since some were in the final epilogue and I just could have done without all that.

But besides all that extra stuff, I loved the meat and bones of this story, TJ & Jude’s second chance. 💗

Here Comes My Man is book 2 of the Hopelessly Bromantic duet by author Lauren Blakely. Dual POV with a super swoony HEA

By the numbers quick review:
★ Character dev.: 👤👤👤👤👤
★ Plot: 📚📚📚📚📚
★ World building: 🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎
★ Romance: 💕💕💕💕💕
★ Sexiness: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
★ Overall Rating: 5

Jude and TJ’s story was everything I hoped for it to be and more. It was fun. It was sexy. It was touching and it was absolutely smile inducing.

While the first part of their story was a forbidden, friends to lovers romance, this was a second chance fake romance. Both are great combos, but in this second part Jude and TJ have grown, matured, achieved their professional goals, know what they want in their personal lives and know what they lost before. So they’re being cautiously optimistic with this opportunity they’ve been given.

Their story is perfectly executed and I enjoyed every single moment of how their romance unfolded, from the excitement of their secret secret, to the way they opened up to each other. From the fake dates, to the real dates. Their smiles, longing and chemistry was palpable and made me fall even harder for this couple.

For each smile or laugh there was a moment of swoon. And this second part felt even more steamy than the first.

We were also introduced to new secondary characters who I can’t wait to read about.

This is a review for both books as a whole.

For some reason, I went into this two-book series a bit doubtful that I would like it. Alas, I was not wrong. What is it with Lauren Blakely’s books? Sometimes they *work* for me, and I *love* them. Other times, they completely miss the mark, seeming thrown together and totally phoned in. Such was the case for me here.

What didn’t work for me:
* The author forced too many tropes into these books. Roommates to lovers, enemies to lovers (which was a huge stretch btw), secret romance, fake romance, second-chance romance. It was a kitchen sink of tropes and it was too much.
* Miscommunication and a lack of adult communication played large roles in both books. So much misery could’ve been avoided if the MCs had just calmed down and talked rationally. And I mean who among us who spends significant time in Romancelandia doesn’t want to bang their head on the wall and throw their Kindle when an author relies on this plot device? It’s cliche and frustrating.
* The MCs had likable qualities but they were also immature, insecure, petty, over-reactive, impetuous, and jealous. I spent a majority of both books wanting them to grow out of their adolescent stages already.
* There were far too many coincidences and unbelievable, glued-together plot points. No point in listing them but suffice to say the book never felt real, the plot too far removed from real life. Not to mention the unreality of three friends—a reporter, a barista, and a book store clerk--all becoming widely famous, uber-successful, Oscar-nominated, Grammy-nominated, blah-blah-nominated author, rock star, and Hollywood actor? Too wildly far-fetched IMO.
* The OTT role of social media and paparazzi was mind-boggling. I’ve complained about this before, but I don’t understand how people can be such slaves to social media as was the case with the characters in these books. No doubt I could be way off base since I have little involvement in TikTok, IG, FB, but I’m flummoxed to think that social media dictates celebrity lives that much IRL. Perhaps the Zendayas and Ed Sheerans of the world do live their lives subject to the whims and opinions of their followers, but I apparently have little patience for reading about characters who contort their lives in such an insane fashion to appease the internet.
* This kinda goes along with my social media beef, but the reasons the MCs' agents and publicist pushed the fake relationship made zero sense to me and it was so thinly plotted. Supposedly it was done to 1) kick TJ out of his writer’s block. How was that supposed to work exactly? And 2) to counteract Jude’s salacious photos. What was so salacious about him embracing a rock star? Was it bc the rock star is rumored to have a substance abuse issue? Bc if so, WTF? It all felt forced and nonsensical. Not to mention all the pearl-clutching over potential consequences if people found out it was fake. Who cares? Seriously, who would care?
* The behind-the-scenes, too on-the-nose insights into life as an author as seen through TJ’s experiences were annoying. LB tried too hard with this plot point IMO. I think she hoped it would be cool but to me it felt overbearing.
* The sex scenes felt increasingly blah to me and I forwarded through all of them in the second half of book 2, something I NEVER do.
* The massive character dumps and setup for future books was pretty heavy-handed.
* Everything was tied up with a way too glittery and perfectly tied bow.

What did work:
* Ensemble cast. I enjoy this approach to story narration.
* The writing. Clearly I struggled w plot and characters but I like LB’s writing style. She writes w a strong flair for the modern and no doubt can be quite clever and funny.
* No homophobia
* Narrators’ blooper reel. What a hoot!

So, obvs I had a lot to say. I’m sorry to be so harsh, and I’m def in the minority, but these are my thoughts. Not sure where I go from here re LB’s books. I get FOMO not reading them, thinking the next one will be another win. Just gotta be stronger about tapping out if the spirit moves me.

Swoon! Here Comes My Man by Lauren Blakely was a dreamy, charismatic "top-notch" romantic conclusion to the Hopelessly Bromantic Duet. Seriously, Jude and T.J.'s fake to forever romance will make your heart absolutely melt for this couple as they finally find their own HEA that is ten years in the making. Lauren has written another emotionally moving romance that will leave a lasting impression on your heart.

This audiobook is narrated by Shane East and Teddy Hamilton with a full supporting cast. I love audios performed in a multicast duet because it is like a movie in your ears! Shane was fantastic at presenting Jude's uninhibited and passionate personality as he just went after what he truly cherished and wanted in life! Teddy was great at portraying T.J.'s more sensitive and pensive personality as he learned to trust and love Jude all over again. Both narrators were spot on showcasing the intense blazing HOT chemistry between Jude and T.J. Plus, the supporting cast added so much more to an amazing audio experience!

Overall, I loved this audiobook!! If you are a fan of a fake to forever romance with a hot hunky dreamy actor, a sizzling witty romance writer, forced proximity, a fake relationship that turns into so much more, PR stunts, blanket shopping, late-night spicy times (HOT), misunderstandings explained, loyal friends, learning to trust and open up, and a HEA that was written in the stars and leaves you feeling deliciously happy, then you will adore Jude and T.J.'s story! I always look forward to more from Lauren Blakely!

This is the finale of TJ and Jude’s story and was exactly what I needed for these two.

Jude and TJ are each in need of some help which their teams believe a fake relationship will fix. With the help of their managers and PR team, they find themselves in the spotlight on setup dates, orchestrating fake kisses, and acting their way through the public eye. Even though they weren’t able to make it work together the last time they tried, they should be able to pretend long enough to make their teams happy, repair Jude’s public image, and jumpstart TJ’s writing.

I love a good fake relationship, especially when there are real feelings behind the facade. These two are each reluctantly agreeable to playing pretend when they don’t know who their fake boyfriend will be,but reality crashes down when they learn who their pretend partner will be. There are some big reasons their relationship didn’t work when they were younger that still need to be addressed, and the hurts of the past could be enough to wreck even the possibility of pretend. But at their core, they both still love each other and it doesn’t take long until they are trying to keep the fake and real pieces of their lives separate.

This was a great finale for these two men. They had a lot of issues to clean up from their previous attempts at being together to avoid another failed attempt. I loved watching as they worked through their insecurities and their past hurts.

Once again, Laurent Blakely has pulled me into her world, made me fall in love with her men, and left me anticipating the return to yet another couple. I can’t wait to see what is next from her!

Like the first book, this one is high on emotions and high on romance.

The hurt feelings, the longing, the love, the admissions, the honesty, the vulnerability, the fucking romance! HELL YES!!

I loved these guys and everything that happened in this book for them to be together. They’re so freakin’ sweet with each other. I love a couple that will push through all the road blocks put in their way.

The epilogues were perfect.

I also want to give the author huge credit for amazing women side characters where not ONCE did I have a complaint about them being misogynistically (is this a word?) written. Absolutely fantastic to read, and especially to see the main characters stand up against misogyny in the book.

A second shout-out needs to go to the chapter names. I know that must be hard and I noticed every single one of them and very much enjoyed them.

I liked the beginning, where the couple gets over their hurt feelings. But then they become friends again and more than half of a novel has to be written. It would have been better if the first part of this novel was included in book 1, and the rest deleted. There was just some outside drama I did not care about and the moment the protagonists decided not to care about it, took way too long.

This should have been shortened into a few chapters and put together with the first part of the book. Half of it was repetitive and unnecessary. Described as "enemies to lovers" and "fake dating", while in fact the MCs weren't really enemies and their dating wasn't fake from like their second date.

TJ's blocked. Jude's gotten himself into a bit of a mess. Their people think that means they need to fake date. Why? Well, it will look good for everyone involved. But can two secret exes who couldn't make things work more than once make a fake relationship work when they couldn't make a real relationship work before?!

TJ needs to open up to his fake boyfriend. He knows how he really feels but admitting it? Yeah maybe not so easy to articulate. Jude needs to be a bit more trusting, not bring to the table all his distrust and insecurities. Granted, he's in the industry that's all about make believe, but still, if he wants his fake turned real relationship to work, he has to trust what TJ tells him and what he feels. Can he do that?

I LOVE these two guys!! TJ's the sweetheart who has never gotten over his ex. Jude's the snappy, witty one who also hasn't gotten over his ex. I knew that though they were "enemies" that love was going to win because neither had ever fallen out of love with the other. Their journey back to each other was fun, emotional and tugged a bit on the ol heartstrings, and had so much damn heat my Kindle practically melted. I wish Lauren would write even more stories about this couple in the future because I never want to be done reading about them.

Ahh the moment we have been waiting for!

Ok so it took me a little bit longer to get on board with Jude and T.J. this time, I think just because so much time had past and I wasn't feeling their connection.
But man that comes rushing back the moment they are back in each other orbits.
They both need something or at least their respective teams think so, so fake relationship it is. Only its not so fake and there are real feelings.

Lots of feeling, hurt, old and new feelings and they are about to burst open. Oh how I loved how they needed the push but really that is all they needed that permission to be with each other the rest falls into place. Its such a wonderful second chance at the love of your life you can't help but cheer them on.

Omg the bloopers, are fantastic. The narration on this duet is fabulous! Teddy and Shane play off each other so wonderfully that I couldn't help but enjoy every second of it. Really what a wonderful Duet!

“You’ve been all my inspiration since I left London. I’ve been longing for you the whole time, I put that in every book I wrote. You’re every love story. You’re every romance I write.”

That was sooo good and intense. I loved Jude and TJ’s story —- their chemistry, belonging and love was so deep!
A great epilogue ✨✨

5 Hot AF stars for this one!
Wow, here we get the conclusion of T.J. and Jude's story, and Ms. Blakely does not disappoint! These two have a love like no other, no matter what comes their way, they always find their way back to each other! It's not going to be an easy ride for these two, their is a lot of forgiveness to be had, but when it's your soul mate, won't you do whatever you have to do to be together?
I freaking loved these two guys so much, their chemistry is off the charts, their banter is even better! Don't miss out on this one, grab it asap!

Here Comes My Man - MM- (Hopelessly Bromantic Duet - Book 2- Lauren Blakely

Jude a London based actor and TJ, a New York based writer met in London 7 years ago. Their story started in “Hopelessly Bromantic”, and it certainly is a great. Read this before “Here Comes My Man”. Outlined below.

Jude worked in a Bookstore and TJ was in London for a year, to report on Financial matters. They fell in love at first sight, ended up as roommates by chance within a week. Unfortunately TJ’s New York employers called him back to NY after just 3 weeks. Both Jude and TJ are devastated, they are crazy for each other but both keep the depth of their feelings to themselves, it’s just not possible to maintain such a long distance romance. They both agree, no emails, letters, phone calls, no keeping tabs on each others careers, Nada.

7 YEARS LATER - Here Comes My Man

Individually their careers take off eventually, and 7 years later Jude is headed to LA to make a movie. By fluke he comes across a link to TJ and invites him to LA to the premier of his play. Happily they agree to meet up and all the feels are reignited big time. They can’t keep their hands off each other. But the fates are unkind, misunderstandings occur over planned collaborations, people interfere, they have a huge row where TJ storms back to New York and they break up, separated again. These guys now hate each other.

Nearly a year later and Jude is now based in New York doing stage and screen work. Unfortunately they are both in bother career wise individually, writers block for TJ, scandal for Jude. To save their careers a PR company suggest fake boyfriends with other famous stars who need help to get back into the spotlight and motivated.

No spoilers from me, but I felt like hitting these guys over their heads at times in frustration but I guess it all adds to the story which I recommend you read both Book 1 first.

I adored these two MC, maybe Jude is my favourite though, I believe some of the side characters have been given their own story books too.
