Wow! I just finished Sarah Beth’s Trauma Alchemy book and I feel like she was sitting in the room with me. I met Sarah Beth nearly 10 years ago when she was one of my first yoga teachers at my local fitness club. I follow SBY on YouTube and practice the yoga sessions many days a week. I have always appreciated Sarah Beth’s style of teaching and the way she makes yoga so accessible to everyone. The personal stories she shares in this book explains the deep understanding and passion she brings to her yogis. Sarah Beth fully understands the ancient practice of yoga and provides a clear guide on how anyone can practice yoga on and off the mat. This book will be referenced for years to come.
Trauma Alchemy is AMAZING and has so many golden nuggets throughout the book. Through telling her own trauma healing story, Sarah Beth shares the techniques that helped her heal her own trauma.
Trauma Alchemy was written as if you are following a yoga session. Each stage of the yoga session gives you the tools you need to do trauma healing work in your life now. This book shows you how your yoga practice can be applied off the mat. No matter how big or small your trauma experiences have been, if you read the book and you are willing put the work in, the exercises can help you work through your healing process. Make sure to have your journal with you when you are reading this book to make notes and do the exercises.
Whether you are a yogi or not, healing from trauma or not, Trauma Alchemy will give you the tools you need to transform your pain and stress into something beautiful. It shows you that your past is part of who you are, and it has brought you to this place right now. For me, this book helped me realize that there are some traumas that I thought I had worked through but really, I only scratched the surface of healing from them. Now that I have the tools from this book, I can start to do my deep inner work and heal from past traumas.
We all need someone or something to help us become the person we always were but needed to draw back a ton of curtains to find us. For me, the exercises and advice here I'd highly recommend as a great starting point to those of us ready to take the next steps to total well-being. Great read.
I really learned a lot reading this book. The author does a great job of showing the reader how yoga can help one overcome lifelong trauma. The examples and correlations to her own childhood trauma and how she was able to become happy and thrive were inspiring.
This wasn’t what I expected, but it also wasn’t bad! There was some repetition and I wish there was more related to yoga, itself, but overall it was a good read that I was able to take something away from. 3.5 stars
I have recommended this book to everyone I know. I have been struggling with PTSD for a few years due to an injury and with dealing with my injury so many other things have come to the surface. I believe this book will keep me grounded and ready for healing and I will continue to heal. Letting go what does not serve me, is my new moto. I say it to myself any time a little stress comes up. Thank you Sarah Beth for sharing your story.
I loved this so much I got trauma, and adhd and autism and fybromylangie.. and this book and her online lessons helpt me so so so so much. Thank you sarah!
Astounding how this book encompasses Yoga practice as it explains why a Yoga routine is constructed the way it is and the how it may make YOU feel and behave. As an ardent Sarahbethyoga member/MASSIVEfan/follower etc.. This book has explained to me the philosophy, science, history and practicalities of Yoga as a stand alone practice for my body and mind. I admire Sarah Beth for bravery for sharing her story, as we all have one. This book found me EXACTLY as it needed to do so.
