A town with a dark underbelly is about to meet its match.
Tom Rollins returns to his hometown Hopper Creek and starts to build a life there. He finds a job, gets a place to live, and reunites with an old girlfriend. All good so far.
But something is horribly wrong with the town. A dark underbelly threatens to engulf the community. And the local cops seem to be in on it.
A designer drug called Flakka has flooded the streets. Tom, a former special operative, has seen what drugs can do when left unchecked. And he's not going to let it happen on his own doorstep.
Meanwhile, something sinister is happening in nearby Santa Fe. Someone is abducting homeless people and harvesting their organs. When one of their victims shows up in Hopper Creek, Tom feels it's his duty to investigate.
What he uncovers is beyond horrifying, a web of criminality that connects dealer and harvesters.
And with his own girlfriend earmarked to be the next victim, Tom realises he needs to do what he does best – unleash hell on the bad guys.
Last Stand - Book 8 in the superb Tom Rollins action thriller series. Perfect for fans of Lee Child, Jason Kasper & David Archer.

“…well written, easy and entertaining to read, and has a very good pace.” -Netgalley Reviewer
Once again I must thank Inkubator Books and Netgalley for supplying me with this great author's work. Last Stand by Paul Heatley is the eighth book about Tom Rollins. In this book he returns to his hometown and finds out that it is flooded by drugs and especially one gang that terrorises the people. The story evolves into the disappearance of homeless people and another gang that deals in organs. This is a very dark story told as usual with superb penmanship by Heatley. I am glad I found this author and his work.
Crazy about Tom! Heatley has him bleed but he always has him win. Tough stuff…tough writing! Pages flip fast with the action. PH also gives his super hero time out to eat, shower, and make love. As a reader, I appreciate author giving his lead character human daily attributes…”just a guy”…however, don’t piss him off! Or PH will have TR hunt you down with his Sig Sauer! Guaranteed! Eager for next TR saga! Thank you, PH!
Tom is back in his hometown and is quick to recognise there's a serious drugs problem there. As usual, he decides to do something about it. At the same time, there's an organ harvesting operation happening close by and soon both trajectories collide, with Tom at the centre of it all.
As usual, this is a dark and violent but totally riveting read. I like Tom and despite the violence, his intentions are noble. These books are terrific for grabbing you right from the start and never letting go. A relentless gung-ho adventure really.

Another great and action packed read. The whole book was a roller coaster of action. I have read all of the books in the Tom Rollins series and have never been disappointed. A big thank you to the author Paul Heatley and from me a well deserved 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
seven stars Tom has come home again but there has been big changes. Drugs are everywhere.
Tom has moved back to town to see if he can settle down. He has reconnected with his first girlfriend. Hayley is a nurse now working in a local hospital. But things have changed, the local big wig bully has taken over the drug trade and is ruining the town. So Tom knows he has to do something about it. So he blows up the local factory and tries to get the gang to move on. But he has a surprise Donny the local drug lord goes after him. This story has two plots there is also a body parts group capturing local homeless and harvesting the parts. Not caring if anyone dies at the same time. Somehow the two gangs join together and the battle for Tom’s home town gets real dirty fast. Love the story almost sorry I postponed reading until I read Robert Heinlein’s book Friday. It jumped out of one of my five bookcases and stuck to my hand until I finished it. Hard to beat Heinlein if he was in the reviews would give him a ten.
Last Stand by Paul Heatley. A Tom Rollins Action Thriller Book 8. Brilliant read. I love this series. 5*.
Book 8 in the Tom Rollins book series, it might help to read the previous books to gain a better overview of Tom's character. Nonetheless, the story works as a standalone. The chapters switch between Tom and Donny, showing both sides of the story. Tom takes it upon himself to take this case personally with his girlfriend at risk. The narrative is gritty and the book is written in the present tense so readers read the narrative in real-time. A personal pleasant way to read since nothing in the future can be foreseen and readers learn what happens at the same time as the characters.

A good thriller that has Rollins returning home to his birthplace catching up with past schoolmates and girlfriend only to discover the town and general area is falling into decline because of drug dealing. Rollins takes action to stamp out the local drug supply chain and when helping a man who had escaped from an organ harvesting operation in a neighbouring town/city the hoods from both sides come together to restore their operations. Their efforts to regain control result in the death of Rollins friend and kidnap of his girlfriend forcing him to go on the offensive.
Tom Rollins has returned to his hometown and has met up with an old girlfriend. That part of the story was nice, the other part was that a new drug was making its way around the streets of his home town and he did not like that, especially with the thought that no one was doing anything about it. If you have read any of the other books you know what is going to happen and the remainder of the book is full of action and him taking out the people who are part of the drug scene. Another good story and very much worth the read. I received this book from Netgalley.com
Another great Tom Rollins thriller! Great plot and another cast of well-thought out characters. However, unlike the previous Tom Rollins books, this one started using the English spelling of words rather than the American which was confusing at first. I know Paul is from England but his prior seven Rollins novels had used American spelling so it really stood out in book 8 as an anomaly. However, still a great story, highly recommend all of the Tom Rollins books and I will be reading and enjoying the rest of them!
I have read every book so far in this series, and this was the best one yet. As always with Tom Rollins, there is plenty of action as Rollins goes about destroying his enemies as only he can.
The story in this book was really good, and sets it apart from the others in this series. It was very suspenseful and well told. It gripped you, and kept you reading to see what would happen next.
In short, a great book, best yet in this series in my opinion, and highly recommended.
I've read all the previous books in the series and have enjoyed them. For some reason I just couldn't get into this one. The story is solid and I like the characters but there were several subs stories that went nowhere and felt like filler. Spoiler alert...There's also a sequence near the end where a crazy surgeon with a scalpel almost bests Rollins armed with a K-bar.
Last Stand by Paul Heatley thrusts readers into the perilous town of Hopper Creek. Tom Rollins, seeking a fresh start, returns to find his hometown plagued by the dangerous drug Flakka. As a former special operative, he takes action when local law enforcement's complicity surfaces. Meanwhile, nearby Santa Fe hides a darker secret: organ harvesting from the homeless. Tom faces this criminal web head-on in. With relentless action and high stakes leading to an explosive climax.
Last Stand - My first read by this author and I found it interesting. I assume Tom Rollins is another version of Reacher. At least, this book is a bit more realistic than some of the other copycats. Good characters, both the evil and the good, and good story lines. After awhile, the book held my interest and I was surprised that it was better than expected. I would read this author again. 4*
Tom is one who likes to help solves problems and if the problems are or can be dangerous he’s fine with it. Tom is a great guy but has definitely been through some tough times. I haven’t read this whole series but I’m sure the previous books are great too. Can’t wait for more.

Downloaded and read in one sitting. 3.5 hours of pure escapism and vigilante violence being dished out to the bad guys. Great stuff and look forward to the next installment. When I get a notification from Amazon about a new Tom Rollins novel, I don't hesitate, I just click buy it now as it each book is just more of the same.
Tom is a troubled man but he has a conscious and a morale underpinning that guide him in through his life. He’s a man who lives true to himself and his beliefs as such he seems to find trouble because he refuses to bullshit himself about the reality of the world around him. If only there were more men like Tom Rollins.
Tom Rollins is trying to settle into a “normal” life in his hometown but he can tell that there’s an underlying negative element that’s going on and causing the town to slowly die. In his inimitable manner, Tom starts nosing around and watching the goings-on. When the bad guys make it personal, it truly gets Western!
If you have read enough of this sort of book, then this one will provide no surprises It's good enough, just not anything new for this genre. Tom does the usual good guy defending the weak and fighting the bad guys This time round the bad guys fall out with each other leaving Tom to just clean up the left overs
If you want to base your weak storyline in America, use American English. Curb, not kerb. Color, not colour etc.
Using a tired trope is forgivable if you make your stories engaging. Poor proofreading, missing words and the aforementioned word usage make this series painful to read.
Suspense, intrigue, mystery, and danger await you in this book. It's well-written, captivating, and keeps you turning the pages. The characters are well-developed and work well together to solve the problem.

I enjoy a three or four hour action-packed read. “Last Stand “ fit the bill perfectly. While it was slow at the start when it got rolling at about the half hour mark it became captivating.
The book carries on at a pretty decent pace, something always happening. You'll pick the twist easy enough. If looking for something simple where Tom kicks some butt, matches the series.
It's not the first novel (film either) I read with same dark business (don't want to spoiler it) and I was already expecting everything funelling into Tom Rollins the way it does. It keeps the same level rest of the novels in the series, but there is nothing new here.
Idiot. She is a handicap of yours and you are just letting her go back to a place where violence recently took place? You assume it is unlikely something bad will happen there again? She deserves to die if only to serve as a wakeup call for you to get your shit together. Dumbass.
Crazy book but I enjoyed it !! Now I will have to see what is up with his next book staying with his old girlfriend from High school or moving on again.
