I loved this book because it shared what Jesse learned and repeatedly did growing up. He didn't compete against others, but always strove to compete against himself....improving, and not giving up. What a great example!

All I have to say is Wow!!! This is a really good book about his childhood. It's amazing how he was a poor little boy living on the farm to being a world record breaker and being famous. He's a tough kid.

JESSE OWENS: YOUNG RECORD BREAKER, for ages 8-12, is an inspiring story, focused on Jesse’s childhood. Through hard work and courage, African-American runner Jesse Owens overcame racism, poverty and poor health. He won four gold medals in the 1936 Olympics, in Hitler’s Germany, proving that Blacks could compete at the highest level.

I really liked Jesse Ownes. He had a lot of goodness in him - especially in being good when it was very hard.
