In this book, former Chicago police detective J. J. Bittenbinder shows you how to protect yourself and your family against crime - on the streets, on vacation, and in your home. You'll learn how criminals select their victims, how to avoid becoming a victim, and what to do if you're targeted for attack.
This is a great book, although a bit outdated. I’d love to read a new edition with all the technology we now have, included. One major take away for me was when he kept reaffirming to lock your house and car when you’re inside them. I’d always had the impression that no one would break in if you’re there, so there’s no need to lock the doors. But so many of these horror stories could have been so easily prevented by simply locking the doors to protect yourself and your family. I’m grateful to have read this and learned so many small, practical ways to keep myself a little safer.
I have read this book a couple of times. It is dated, but the concept of "tough target" is timeless. Read this book. Ask your teenaged children to read it. Review it.
