Macy wants sexy Jarit Colson in the worst way. Too bad she has a dating code forbidding across-the-hall hook-ups. But her dating rules are shot after one look at his lean, sexy, athletic body.
Jarit is cautious for a different reason. He’s a sexual Dominant and he’s not sure the sweet, submissive vibes Macy is giving off are the real thing. Jarit decides to test the waters. Kisses quickly turn to talk of ropes and cuffs and spanking. Macy is intrigued and they try a little bondage. She is easily seduced but scared by how much she likes it. She ends up with buyer’s remorse and begs off.
Jarit isn’t satisfied with just a taste. He knows exactly what he wants—a whole lot more of Macy.
Reese Gabriel is a born romantic with a taste for the edgier side of love. Having traveled the world and sampled many of the finer things, Reese now enjoys the greater simplicities -- barefoot walks by the ocean, kisses under moonlight and whispers of passion in the darkness with that one special person.
Preferring to remain behind the scenes, cherished by a precious few, Reese hopes to awaken in the lives of many the possibilities of true love through stories of far off places and enchanted lives.
Macy has a list of not to do, it is a fairly long list and one of those items on the list is not getting involved with her neighbor. Jarit Colson is everything that Macy believes is wrong for her, however she doesn't know he has a plan. Jarit has been waiting for a chance with Macy and although she seems conflicted on her feelings, he decides to let her know his interest.
I liked how this began but I didn't really get Macy, she wants him and then she doesn't. Hot and cold throughout, liked Jarit he was very wicked. I liked the idea of this one too much angst on Macy's part though.
This was a very short very confusing story. The problem was it was too much back and forth between the characters. Macy was to unsure of herself for one. There also seem to be a lack of chemistry between the characters. To me the first book in a series has to capture me to made me want to continue to read the rest of the books this one didn't do it for me.
This short novel was a lot of fun. When a half naked and very sexy neighbor shows up at Macy's door, she gets a whole lot more than she bargained for. The thing that frustrated me about this book was the "I want him and then I don't" aspect of it. I like a woman who knows her own mind, even if she has a little problem with willpower. (If I had a sexy neighbor like Jarit and I was single, there would be no question about how that would go. Just sayin.)
When the story ramps up from a wet towel to a full on frontal smut attack. Awesome. I love the way the author builds the sexual tension and as Macy ticks down each rule she is breaking by stepping over the boundaries with Jarit, she does not care. Then things really take a turn for the interesting. Jarit is a dominant and Macy is in for the ride of her life. If only she would make up her danged mind so we could get on with enjoying it. *sigh*
After waffling around, Macy and Jarit get together and have a kinky little coming to BDSM meeting and she finally sees that inside her soul is a natural submissive just waiting to come out. The sex scenes were good and the ending kind of reminded me of something you see in an adult film, but overall I liked the story. (I secretly hope she really does start stealing his keys. I would.)
Cover notes / Warnings: BDSM is really the only warning. Though the blurb tells you all about that but it is not heavy and the "scenes" in this novella are really light.
Review: I love strong women characters. I don't think there are enough of them. Either they are over the top or they are helpless and fall for the knight in shining armor. I guess those can be good stories too. But I can NOT stand a whining female. Or male for that matter. Why are you whining?! Anyway, Macy is ALMOST but NOT QUITE a whiner. Really, she actually comes off as a total beezee. There is no way I would have stuck it out for someone like that. Uh uh. However, Jarit is your 'typical' dominant. He sees the inner person and wants to be the one to bring it out in her. After multiple orgasms of course. *Rolls Eyes* In the end, these two are so perfect for each other. The perfect Dominant man, the naturally awesome submissive. All this happens after some really cheesy dialogue, the all knowing best friend and 72 hours. For an 80 page read, this was entertaining. I had my laughs and eye rolling. But every now and then, that's what I want to read. I want a book where I KNOW how it is going to end.
Marit has several rules, one of them being "Do not bone your neighbor". But what is she to do when he´s standing soaking wet outside her door, hot and tempting? He´s wanted her for a long while and won´t take no for an answer. Would have been a 4 if she wasn´t so feeble-minded, one minute she wants him, the next she´s showing him the door *sigh* 3,5 Stars.
Oh Jarit.. I wanted to love you I really did you were oh so hawt and I just wanted to see you in action. This is where you fell short. I didn't get to see the BDSM that I thought I was going to see. This book was like someone bringing you to CLIMAX and then yelling I am done. GRRRR. If only the book was longer and really went into the goodies it may have gotten a few more stars.
In general, I love Reese Gabriel's book. This wasn't horrible, but it wasn't a favorite. I got sick of the heroine's waffling - I want to and two seconds later I don't want to. It became tedious and the hero wasn't convincing as a dominant. Anyway, this just wasn't a favorite and I won't be re-reading it.
This book was ok. I just can't see letting someone you don't know dominate you outside of the safety of a club. And then he tells her he loves her when he doesn't even know her. I just couldn't really get into it. The sex scenes were HOTT! though
