My life couldn’t get any worse than it is right now. When Bula died a part of me died with her. No, she wasn't my fated mate, but she was chosen by the queen and that’s all that mattered to me. The moment I lay eyes on her my heart hammers in my chest. She's the opposite of orcs with her long blonde hair, pale complexion, and the most beautiful pale blue eyes I’ve ever seen. For the first time since Bula’s death, hope wells in my heart.
She fights, yet her eyes peer at me with approval. Her heart pounds in sync with mine.
Am I looking at my fated mate?
Is this how it feels? I asked the royal guard to find a nanny for my son and they brought me so much more.
Emmy (h) and her friends take a vacation from their lives on planet Daerr and stop on Crucis to see the orcs and the mines. While sightseeing, Emmy is taken by royal guards and pressed into service as a nanny for Borug, the young son of widowed orc lord Arik (H). Emmy initially rebels against Arik but is soon won over by little Borug and finds herself drawn to Arik who’s convinced she’s his fated mate. Things heat up quickly between Arik and Emmy, though their mating doesn’t meet with approval from all. Fun to see Wren and Cagan as part of this story too. Lots of action and adventure as Emmy finds herself in a dangerous situation with her orc mate stepping in to protect her. Lovely fated mate romance with protective orc and a resilient woman, with plenty of heat, family drama, and adventure.
Emmy is one of 4 human friends in a tourist type situation and they all split up to see what interests them as the King and Queen of the Orcs will be greeting everyone soon. With predominantly Orcs all around them and a few vampires and shifters, and coming here specifically to listen to the King and Queen welcome them, their translation device ONLY lets them understand vampires. (When did vampires start speaking a different language and needing translators? Why were no Orc translators provided at an Orc event?) Emmy steps into a mine, described as having “the appearance of a grand royal hall with marbled floors and intricately carved wooden walls and ceiling”. She is forced into a carriage and handed a baby Orc, repeatedly pointing to her ear to say she doesn’t understand what they keep telling her and they nod and keep talking to her anyway.
Then we discover that Arik, son of the King and Queen, needs a nanny for his baby son Borug since his wife has died. So Emmy has been kidnapped for the purpose. And Arik is attracted to her the moment he sees her. Is she possibly his fated mate? Will she stay with him and raise his son? And perhaps add yet another child to their family?
This was a fun addition to the series and was quite the fast paced read. I loved how Arik makes it look like he's asking Emmy to work as his nanny but he really gave her no choice ;) With the sizzling chemistry between them, it didn't take long for more than a working relationship to take root. Unfortunately, the queen does not approve and makes things more difficult for them. Thankfully, this orc knows what he wants and that's Emmy. I enjoyed how their story unfolded and look forward to the next book ;D
Arik needs a nanny for his son, and he's got specific ideas about what he wants in a nanny.
Emmy went on vacation, and discovered different planets have different rules and customs.
This done in one kindle unlimited quick read focuses on the present, and moving forward, which can be hard when you live with a daily reminder of pain and loss. There is also a nice theme of not only life is what you make of it, but how you choose to view it, and your attitude and perspective can make all the difference.
Another sweet tale of a human and orc lord. As we know from the first book, Arik is struggling to care for his baby after the loss of his wife. In desperation, he kidnaps a human woman. Emmy arrives in the orc kingdom for a quick visit, but is taken and asked to be a nanny. Although the story is short, it is complete with character development, action, and romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a wonderful book. I really enjoyed the worlds and cultures that the author created. They way the author addressed fates mates has to rank up there as one of my favorites. The author uses language barriers, misunderstandings and miscommunications as a genius way to move the plot as well as expose the reader to even more of this wonderful world. The spice was very nice especially with the unique aspects of orcish anatomy. Fabulous read!
This is a sweet love story! Okay, so there might be some kidnapping, threats, and running from savages involved, but at the core, the love is sweet! Arik isn't like the Orcs I've read about in other stories. Even if he was, Emmy didn't sign up for the Orc tour that she got, but her story will keep you reading to the end! I loved it, I'll read more in this series!
This book has more emotional than first of main H getting over first wife birth death and raising his son. Stated with tring to get a human nanny. Which he does but she and him has left lessionsto learn. Good book
Just look at that adorable baby orc on the cover with his tiny, thick biceps and chubby cheeks. I laughed so hard at the picture. I really wanted more scenes with Borug and Emmy, but we were robbed of that. The chemistry between Arik and Emmy was also very rushed. We weren't able to understand how quickly their relationship developed.
Thanks to Booksprout for a copy.
Edit: This cover does not have the adorable Borug on it. For all your viewing pleasure, here's his picture:
