a few years ago i came across duaa abu hamza thumali, at that time the duaa literally saved me and made me see Allah (swt) in a different light. i did not expect to fall deeper in love with this duaa and with Allah (swt).
this book beautifully analysis the duaa, it teaches us the way imam sajjad (as) talked to God, a declaration of love between the slave and His Master. Allah (swt) has and will always be nothing but love and mercy.
some chapters made me so emotional and as always —i will leave you with a piece that made my heart burst into a million pieces, my eyes cry and my soul full of hope and joy・
definitely one of my favorite books ever (mind you i am a very picky person). i want to thank Allah (swt) for everything and i am fully aware that even the success of being thankful is another blessing from Him which needs thankfulness.
A beautiful definition of Tawhid and the submission to the oneness of Allah as felt and expressed by Ibn Rasool Allah Imam Sajjad Zain ul Abideen through the words of Dua e Abu Hamza Thumali.
Sheik Javad Shomali breaks down the Dua line by line in simple easy to understand segments and organizes them to be applicable to the day to day of any Muslim and non Muslim alike.
A simple read yet with profound realizations and implications!
Had some grammatical errors but overlooking them and the cheesy vibes (😅), lots to take in!
I’d say the overall theme was Tawhid and having Taqwa
Some gems and summary points: 💎Actions are valued by the knowledge in them, not simply by their quantity. If we are not aware of this, we may perform a lot of actions, but gain very little benefit from them. 💎 Difference between words on the tongue and knowledge in the heart (parents showing off their kids memorizing surahs of the Quran without any understanding of it) 💎 Tawhid: way of experiencing the world through God (the whole universe is within God); a way of living in which wherever you look, you do not find anything other than God’s manifestation; finding Him in all aspects of our lives 💎 Every time you saw a beautiful flower and admired its beauty, you were witnessing and loving God’s beauty. Whenever anyone showed you love, made you feel appreciated or hugged you, and you felt warmth in your heart, the love they showed you came from God. 💎 Anytime you feel something in this world is an independent source of goodness, that thing becomes your Taghut. When you come across something good, say Alhamdulilah. 💎 Nothing we do can ever impact God. We do not have the power to make Him angry. He is independent of us. Unaffected. We harm only ourselves. When we do wrong, we make it harder for ourselves to feel God’s love. 💎 To live with Tawhid: every moment you encounter a new beautiful experience, say Alhamdulilah. 💎 Good deeds should not be transactional, but expressions and demonstrations of our love. 💎 When we fail, He does not become upset or disappointed. He just asks us to return to Him, because with Him, we can succeed the next time. 💎 We do not need to do things FOR God. On the contrary, He stands ready to do things for us; to provide us with the knowledge and strength we need to navigate life’s challenges. We just need to call upon Him. 💎 Khashyat: the state of being in awe of God and His greatness. We recite Allahu Akbar (God is Greater) many times each day. However, when we are faced with a big problem, we do not always feel safe in the knowledge that God is ‘greater’ than the problem at hand. Khashyat is when God’s greatness is so manifest in our hearts that all other challenges fade in comparison. (When we say allahu akbar with knowledge in the heart) 💎 Live with God and rely on Him for everything
