A dead circus performer. Three women sleuths. A new owner for the windmill?
It's summer in Lower Wootton and Ellie Blix is enjoying balmy evenings and barbecues. But family changes are afoot and she's unsettled. To make matters worse, a ruthless property developer has his sights set on the Blix family's windmill.
Then, a woman is found dead in a sunflower field, a tarot card in her hand. She’s soon identified as Tara Gables, a trapeze artist who Ellie met briefly while walking the dog.
Ellie's detective inspector ex-husband lets slip that Tara was bludgeoned to death. Ellie needs no persuading to investigate. As the last person to see the victim alive, she cannot rest until she finds out what happened.
But when Ellie remembers Tara asking about a village tragedy from long ago, the three sleuths uncover a dark secret that shook the village to the core. And this time it’s more personal than ever.
---- All the books in this cozy mystery series can be read as standalones. They're written so that readers can start with any book. They are intended as light-hearted reads.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is a gentle read, along the Miss Marple lines but the way the characters and relationships within the village are developing makes it a good read especially as I and read the first 2 and looking forward to the next installment and to see what happens to the Blix family.
Ellie , Sylvia and Zoe investigate there is murder in a Sunflower field. The victim is a young woman from the circus who was investigating the accident of her grandmother before her. The is a cover-up within the circus owners that is uncovered along the way. I liked the investigation methods in this mystery. It took me a while to figure it out.
I'm enjoying this series very much - more so as I've gor to know the characters better. There is some interesting circus background in this one and I like the down to earth attitudes of the 3 women who are essentially the central characters.
Enjoy reading the Wooten Windmill Mysteries. Engaging characters and relationships. Keeps the reader's attention to see who the real culprit is at the end.
This off at the very beginning with a murder, wow didn't see that coming. Ellie is getting some attention from Jake and Dave doesn't like it. Keeps putting that nudge in her head. Questions
Another great murder mystery by Izzy Harper. I'm on to the next one right now. Easy to follow story with the usual mystery of who done it left to the end.
This was a very interesting read. A number of twists and turns. A number of unpleasant characters. I will admit that I was totally surprised by the ending.
