It’s entertaining, but also absurd and illogical in some places, with characters behaving as allies, then traitors, and back to allies. It turns out that Hadis is the only actual descendent of the dragon god, making the other imperial members false royalty. But…..does that make sense?? His mom had an affair with a guard - how did the uncle know that? Was the mom royalty? Was the guard? Just because Hadis is unquestionably of royal blood and the emperor isn’t his father, it does not follow that the emperor isn’t royal. He could easily (and likely) be royal from a slightly different parentage. If the emperor has multiple wives, and dozens of children, you can easily be equally royal and not share the same father. As long as you all share the same dragon god ancestor, you’re fine. After years of selective marrying, the dukes and other nobles probably also have royal blood, which then they marry back into the imperial family. Dragons still obey the imperial members - can they not sense the bloodline of the god? That whole arc was ridiculous. For that reason, his sister was ready to turn on him and kill him? That’s the only option??

After all the explaining about the goddess, I still don’t understand her deal. The spear is weird and the goddess has crazy advantages in their battles.

I’m definitely starting to see that the author really enjoys writing certain tropes into her stories (teasing main couple, falsely sweet and sadistically evil villain, black hair and gold hair motif for the couple, etc). I can’t fault her for it, but it’s very obvious if you’ve read her other stories as well.
As for this volume, it continued to be interesting and I enjoyed myself while reading it. We’ve still got the child and pedophilia jokes cropping up, but it’s not quite as much as the first volume, so that helped my engagement.
There’s politics, alliances, betrayals, the whole shebang of what I love in these kinds of plots, so I look forward to seeing more of it in the next volume

For a light novel, this series is taking longer than normal for me to absorb. Jill and Hadis are unusual characters, especially Hadis. It seems for every step forward there are 3 steps back. For all the Hadis' siblings seem to be decent, it is also somehow no longer surprising why the understanding was previously that everyone betrayed Hadis and he stood alone in the end. Hopefully, Jill will succeed in changing that future, though he really needs to work on some awareness and how he phrases things.

Ok. We are improving and the interactions in this volume are less creepy than the previous volume… we still have glimpses of the thropes this author likes to write about and pedo jokes and I can see her effort to write it less socially and morally acceptable.. said that… I have enjoyed reading this story and the main plot line

2.5。

In Arc 2, Georg Rave seals the magical powers of Jill Saber and her fiancée Hadith with assistance from the goddess. Georg proclaims himself the "real" Dragon Emperor and tries to rally support. Hadith is content to wait out the crisis in an isolated hut cultivating his cooking skills for his bride. However, Jill infiltrates the Dragon Knights to gather information and devise a plan to retake the throne. She encounters Geraldo's spy Lawrence and other members of the Rave family. Then the sickly princess of Kratos asks to marry Hadith and Georg begins burning towns to oust his enemies.

Truthfully, this season/arc is more of the same. Expect misunderstandings, exposition dumps, and dragons. There is a lot of chaotic action as Jill tries to rewrite history and save Hadith from being isolated and having his heart broken by betrayals. The side characters continue to bring hilarious encounters but the novelty has worn off of the histrionic emotions. I am also not a fan of the trope of taking away OP powers to add fake tension to a scenario. It's not terrible but it feels like filler as we don't get another confrontation with the goddess or advance plot much.
