Audible. A thorough retelling of Galileo Galilei’s life and motivations, accomplishments and setbacks. Dense with historical context, names, and political/religious dynamics, the story telling is more academic and less engaging than I’d like with a biography, but the overall effect is a more complete and nuanced picture of the man than I’ve read before. Galileo wrote one of the most consequential works ever, Sidereus Nuncius, Starry Messenger, and paid for it dearly and this book helps place those events in context. A little dry, but a wealth of interesting details for anyone who is fascinated by the time in which Galileo lived and created.
