Bobby Darin was a brilliant vocalist, song stylist, six-time Grammy nominee, singer-songwriter, Academy Award-nominated actor, and stage performer who dazzled crowds in Vegas. He was just beginning to savor fame when he died at age 37, of complications from childhood rheumatic fever. To mark the release of Beyond the Sea , Kevin Spacey's film about Bobby Darin, Al DiOrio has revised this insightful look at the Darin's life. First published by Running Press in 1981, it now features a new epilogue and catalog of Darin's works in music and film.
Borrowed Time: The 37 Years of Bobby Darin was a good, quick reading book that really didn't offer any information on Bobby Darin I had not already read in other books. It was an enjoyable and knowledgeable book to read and the pictures were good, therefore I gave it four stars.
I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about Bobby Darin and doesn't want to read a really lengthy, in depth book. If you just want to pass a few hours with a book (as I sometimes do)this is one for you.
I choose this rating because though I learn a tremendous amount about Bobby Darin personal growth and struggles,I would have liked to have known more about his family life, especially his relationship and marriage to the love of his life,Sandra Dee. However I would definitely recommend this book to those who loved his music, remember Jack The Knife? His had a very successful life however very sad. Very general comment because I don't want to reveal something I don't think many of his fans knew.. Read! You won't be disappointed
