After losing his country music superstar sister in a plane crash, Jones Dunn brings his niece to Sweet Water so they could stay where no one will recognize or bother them. He doesn't intend to stay in town long, but a marriage proposal from an unlikely source makes him think that maybe his plans should change.
Mallie Woods couldn't be more embarrassed when her daughter proposes marriage to the handsome stranger she'd been singing with in the evening on their back porches. She's never even seen his face! But their shared history makes him seem less like a stranger and more like a friend.
Then, an unexpected offer forces them to make a decision neither of them were ready for. Could the cowboy's love song become family harmony?
Oh Jessie you’ve gone and done it again!!! This new story was just so amazing. The characters were so charming and heartwarming while the story line was filled with such beautiful Christian thoughts, words and emotions. I don’t want to drop any spoilers, but I was so happy to read this particular book! Thank you for sharing this ARC with me, these opinions are given freely.
This is another sweet, charming and inspiring romance set in Sweet Water, North Dakota. Toni has long been looking for a husband for her single mom and a father for herself. All of her past efforts have been for nought. She never expected the perfect candidate to fall at her feet, with a little help from Bully the matchmaking steer, or that he would turn out to be the new neighbour along with his niece. The fact that Jones is a father figure already, loves to sing and is friendly and welcoming are all indicators to Toni that he could be meant for her and her mom.
Mallie has no idea that her daughter has yet another candidate in mind to take on the husband and father role in their lives. She has other things on her mind, such as job hunting and worrying about finances after being abruptly let go by her boss. Her faith and her friends have told her to not despair, that God has a plan. He will open a door or show her the way forward, she just has to have faith enough to follow his guidance. The singing of hymns coming from next door seems almost heaven sent, a sign that God is by her side and has a plan. Toni and Florence, Jones’s niece, suggest a marriage to Mallie instead of hiring a nanny for Florence. Not wanting to disappoint his niece who has lost so much in the past and has asked so little from him, Jones decides to ask Mallie if she will marry him. He is shocked that she agrees to the proposal, and has no idea that she sees it as a door God has opened for her. It doesn’t take long for both of them to see that God has indeed guided them to each other.
I loved these characters and their very engaging and rather entertaining story. A menagerie of animals make the story even more captivating as they illustrate several life lessons. I highly recommend this book as well as any of the other books written by Jessie to all those who love sweet, clean romances. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily writing this honest review.
This is such a fun story as Toni's hope for her mother to find someone to marry comes about without her having to do anything but ask. Throughout this series Toni has been trying to find someone to marry her mother. It seemed like each new single man who came to town was married before Toni even met him. She's tried to have the help of the old men making the cooking videos and even tried to use the Marry Me Chicken recipe that worked with one couple. Everything she did failed until suddenly with the help of Billy the Steer (of course)- a new man in town fell right down in front of her. He was trying to get away from Billy who was chasing him down the street and when he tripped and crushed his take out dinner containers, Toni invited him over for dinner. She was also amazed that he was the new tenant who had just moved into their duplex that day.
Jones Dunn had moved to Sweet Water with his niece Florence. That was the place where his sister had purchased land to build a ranch. His sister was a country music star and he was her back up and helped her write the songs they sang. Things had really changed when his sister died in a plane crash about a year ago. Jones had some big decisions to make concerning his music future and he needed to find a nanny for Florence if he was going back out on the road.
Mallie Woods has been a single mom for years after she divorced her cheating husband. She was able to work from home and wished she had more time to spend with Toni. As she finished up a conference call with her difficult boss, he informed her that he didn't need her anymore and basically fired her. So Mallie needs to find a new job fast and she is praying for the Lord to open a door for her. She hasn't met her new neighbor yet but she has heard him sing on their porch.
Toni and Florence come up with an idea that instead of a nanny, Jones gets a wife, who of course is Toni's mother. When Jones agrees to ask Mallie to marry him, he doesn't think she will agree, because they haven't even met yet. Will Mallie see his proposal as the Lord opening an unexpected door for her?
I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.
A marriage of convenience based in need This story is about two people marrying to help meet each other’s needs, while relying on their faith for guidance on what to do. Jones has been given custody of his niece after the death of her mother. He has always been close to Florence since her father had died before she was born and Jones had filled that role in her life. Now as a musician/singer the pressure is on him to get back to tours and performances but he hesitates to leave Florence that long. While waiting for completion of a house his sister was having built, he rents half of a duplex. His new next-door neighbor is Mallie, a single mother with a daughter, Toni, the same age as Florence. Mallie has been their sole support for years but, now she has, without warning, been fired. No severance pay, no benefits, just fired. After meeting Jones, Toni decides that the perfect solution to her mother’s problem is to marry Jones and asks him to propose, much to Florence’s delight. He agrees assuming Mallie will say no, so he won’t need to be the bad guy. But things never seem to go as planned. Mix in a matchmaking Bull, an ugly goat, a group of orphaned kittens and an emergency leaving everyone without water and electricity and you have an enjoyable read. Be aware this is a Christian novel and as such a lot of the dialogue between characters is faith based. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.
When Jones planned to move to North Dakota, he didn't plan to do it without his sister. But after she dies in a plane crash, he decides to move anyway, with his niece. He didn't expect the neighbour in their temporary rental to enjoy singing as much as he does, though - nor for her daughter to ask him to marry her mum. He hates looking like the bad guy, but of course she'll say no, so he's safe to ask. When Mallie loses her job, it seems like the end of everything. But when it's pointed out to her that sometimes God closes one door only to open another, she decides to be open to his leading. But surely he can't be leading her to marriage to a man she barely knows? Has God really orchestrated this situation? And can they turn a marriage of convenience into something more?
Maybe it's because I'm not a parent, but I find it hard to picture being unable to say no in such situations. Nevertheless, that aside, I enjoyed watching Jones and Mallie do what it took to look after and bring up their kids. Better, I loved watching the way they gradually came together themselves - including working through the whole careers situation. As usual, some good conversations, the odd quirky character, some threads from the series as a whole woven through, and a good amount of humour - not to mention a goat. It all makes for a good read and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.
You will never go wrong reading one (I don’t think you can stop at one) of Jessie’s stories! Each one is full of fun characters, an enticing plot and Biblical encouragement and challenge! Toni has been praying for so long for a dad for herself and for her two best friends, Sorelle and Meritt. They finally got theirs but she hasn’t yet. She tries fixing her mom up again with a date and it does not go well! But maybe her mom is right and she needs to let go and let God deal with it without her interferring. Just as she has pretty much lost hope, God brings Jones and Florence into their lives. He has lost his sister and is raising her daughter. They some to Sweet Brair to settle in at the ranch Lucy bought before she died. While waiting for the house at the ranch to be finished they live next door to Toni and her mom, Mallie. This story is encouraging as well as challenging and entertaining! I love how Jessie incorporates biblical principles into her books and I am often reminded of something I need a refresher on!❤️. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a review
Just a Cowboy's Love Song is a story of Mallie and Toni getting a chance at being a family as Mallie married Jones and Flo was now Toni's sister. This was a Billy arranged marriage even though they didn't figure it out with him chasing Jones and then him being around the duplex and he follows the feed truck to their farm. The girl's were so happy they found 3 kittens that were newborns and Bella took them as her babies. Apparently Billy decided he needed to stay with Bella and the kittens like he did with Munchy and her babies.
This story has all the feels of a genuine love story and to Mallie it was a door opened to her by The Lord. When they decided they would marry to have a nanny for Flo, Jones started feeling it to was a door opened by The Lord for him. But their marriage of convenience turned into a loving marriage and a true family. I would have loved to hear more of how they arranged Jones' singing career so he could stay home with the family singing together. It is a story that ends much, much too soon.
I received an advanced copy for my review and I give the story 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟.

Loved Mallie and Jones' story. Finally, Toni found the perfect match for her to have a Dad, and her Mom a husband. Mallie had been working so hard in her job, but her boss fired her. She didn't see that coming, now she had to pray she could find a job quick. Especially one where she didn't have to move to the city. Again Billy the Steer was on the job. As soon as Jones was spotted on the street, Billy was chasing him. Toni comes the the rescue and finds out he and his niece are the neighbours that just moved in the duplex beside her. . Before Jones sister passed away she had purchased land and had a house build. She had planned to make a life there for her daughter. Now, that was soon to be Jones new life since she requested him to take car of her daughter. I loved the proposal, the goat and kittens. And Billy had to be in the mix. If you like clean fun stories, you can't go wrong with 'A Cowboys Love Song'. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
Mallie is a single mom. Toni has been trying to find a husband/dad for them. Finally Mallie just says they need to leave it in God's hands. When Billy chases Jones down the sidewalk, Toni rescues him. Jones has just moved into the other side of the duplex from them. Mallie is working when she finishes, she goes outside and realizes that Toni is singing with the new people next door. She joins in with them. It's a few days later before she meets Jones face to face. However, Toni has already asked him to marry her mom. Jones is taking care of his niece, Florence and they both think it's a great idea. So when Jones meets Mallie for the first time, he asks her to marry him thinking she can be the bad guy that disappoints the girls. When Mallie says yes, they are both surprised. Jones is a famous singer, but he was backup to his sister. When she realizes who he is, she isn't sure that she wants to be in the spotlight or that she should marry him. Great book!
After watching her friends find a father and several failed attempts to match up her mother, Toni finally gets a dad! She asks their new neighbor Jones Dunn, to marry her mom, Mallie, and since he doesn't want to look like a bad guy to Toni and to his neice, who wants a family, he agrees to ask Mallie to marry him. It may seem like a crazy way to live, deciding to say Yes to a marriage to someone you barely know, but Mallie believes God has been giving her direction. Jones is counting on Mallie to say No, so he's taken by surprise, when Mallie says yes. Now they just have to figure out the rest of their lives! Should he keep on doing music? Can Mallie adjust to the discovery that Jones is rich? Are they going to sing as a family? Are they going to have a farm? It's lovely watching them navigate all the decisions and become a family. I love all Jessie Gussman's books and I received an ARC of this book. You won't regret buying this book, that is my honest opinion.
How Does God Create a New Family for Mallie and Toni?

You really need to 📖 this Series in Chronological Order, to fully understand this 📗.
Mallie and Toni get new next-door Neighbors, Jones, and his niece Florence. Toni and Florence become instant friends, after finding out they're the same age, and singing Church Hymns with Jones on their front Porch. How does God bring Mallie and Jones a Lifetime 💞? I Highly Recommend You 📖 this Poignant, Compelling, Unforgettable, and Engrossing, Small Town, Western, Christian Romance 💎, to find out how Jones, Mallie, Toni, and Florence become a Family. ❤️d 📖 ing ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is another great installment to the series. In the opening of the book we find Jones, a new town resident, being followed by the town mascot and resident match-making steer, Billy. He is rescued by the daughter of his duplex neighbor and promptly invited to dinner and then a sing along on the front porch. Several days later, we find that the two adults finally meet face to face, and the two girls decide that the adults néed to get married. They get Jones to agree, he thinks Mallie will reject the idea, and he pops the question. To his great surprise, Mallie agrees because she has decided to go through the door the Lord opens. They get married, and only after that Mallie finds out that Jones has money and is building a ranch outside of town. She also finds out that he was part of a group led by his sister, who has died leaving Jones in charge of his niece, but his manager is trying to get him to tour again. Only time will tell if all things will work out for them.
A dad for Toni? As Jones was walking home from picking up dinner, he was being followed by Billy. Thinking he was being chased, he was startled when Toni started to tell Billy to be more polite to newcomers, tripped and smashed his takeout containers. Toni felt bad that he lost his dinner and invited him and his niece to eat with her as her mom had dinner made in the crockpot. Thus began a friendship, as the two girls quickly became good friends. Is he married, and would he make a good dad for her? What would her mom think when she learned her daughter brought an adult male stranger home for dinner? Lots of laughter as they all got to know each other as well as difficulties along the way. Another great inspirational story from Ms. Gussman that I highly recommend.
Jonas and his niece are just trying to heal and start life over after his sister was killed. Sweet Water was his sister’s pick for a new life on the ranch and now he wants finish her dream. Little did he know that a quickly-made promise to propose to his neighbor would be his greatest blessing.
Mallie just wants to put food on the table and follow God’s plan for her life. A companion would be nice but there is no one for her. Her new neighbors are nice and and she never guess he’d ask her to marry him AND that she would agree. Maybe Billy had something to do with it.
Join Jonas and Mallie with their girls as they start a new life together and learn to love each other forever.
I received an advanced reader copy from the author for my voluntary opinion.
Billy (the matchmaking steer) strikes again in this series. It is rumored that Billy wanders around town acting as matchmaker for the singles in town. Jones was in his sights and was almost run over by Billy in his attempt to make a match.
Mallie had just lost her job and didn't know what to do next when she heard singing in the dark on the porch of her duplex. When she realized the voices were coming from her daughter, her neighbor and the neighbor's niece, she wanted to join in and make beautiful music with them.
Sometimes we just have to trust that God knows best and all will work out as it should in the end. Millie and Jones learned that lesson, too.
This is a sweet, clean, romantic story that starts as a marriage of convenience and ends up with a happy ever after ending.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
Just a Cowboy’s Love Song is another sweet story by Jessie. It is a marriage of convenience and I had to laugh at the way it came about. It is a heartfelt story full of struggles, faith, love and family. Toni has wanted a dad for a long time, but her mom, Mallie, said to rely on the Lord. So it was a surprise when Jones came to her door, you will have to read to find out what happened and then you will find yourself laughing and smiling. I loved this story so much, it just left so many warm happy feelings with me. I love that I feel like I get so many thought-provoking thoughts while reading, I have loved the marriage counselling that the pastor gives in this series. I can’t say it enough how much I really, really loved this story.
I really enjoy reading Jessie's books. Sometimes they are sad, but there is a lot of humor in the books too. A sweet Christian romance. I just love the town of Sweetwater with their matchmaking ladies and their match making steer. There are bits and pieces of others stories intertwined in the main storyline. So we having been reading about Merrit and Sorrel's quest for a dad before. In this story, they finally get a dad. I love how Jessie put Elias and Jane together. This is such a good story. I always feel like I've left a marriage counseling session after reading Jessie's books. If more people read her books and heeded her advice on relationships, people would get along so much better.
Toni Woods wants nothing more than a dad and husband for her mom, Mallie. When a new neighbor moves in, Toni finds the perfect match for her. Jones Dunn has moved to North Dakota with his niece, Florence, after the death of her mom. After Jones has a run in with the town steer, Billy, Toni comes to his rescue. Toni takes it upon herself to ask him to propose marriage to her mother. He agrees and was surprised when Mallie accepts. Neither takes marriage lightly so this is a lifetime commitment to a new life together. Jones is supposed to be heading back to Nashville for his singing career. Will he be able to leave his new family? Will two families be able to blend and accept ranch life with all of the tragedies that come with it?
Being new in town, Jones is worried when he is chased down the street by Billy, the matchmaking steer. He is rescued by twelve-year-old Toni, the daughter of his single-mom neighbor. Toni’s mom, Mallie, loses her job the next day. Coincidentally, Jones needs a nanny for his pre-teen niece Florence. But Florence decides she does not need a nanny; she needs a family. So, Jones proposes after knowing Mallie one day, knowing she will refuse; she doesn’t! Mallie had already told the Lord she would walk through whatever door He opened.
This is a very enjoyable, humorous story, filled with family values and Christian concepts.
I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is voluntary and unbiased.
Oh no! She said yes! Marriage of convenience is one of Jessie’s favorite tropes and she does it so well. Poor Jones has two little girls ganging up against him and it makes him do all kinds of crazy things- propose, buy an ugly goat, change his life, fall in love. Mallie is such a great FMC, she rolls with any situation and does it with grace and humor. Jones doesn’t know quite what to think with all the nature/animal experiences he’s having in North Dakota starting with being chased down the sidewalk by a crazy cow with large horns. You’ll be smiling and giggling along with absorbing some good life advice from the fine folks of North Dakota. Clean with Christian themes. I received this as an arc.
I am so happy to read this book and find out that Toni finally gets a Dad. She had tried everything to find a husband for her Mom, Mallie, but nothing worked until Jones and his niece, Florence, moved into the vacant duplex next door. Billy, the matchmaking steer, had a part in this match between Jones and Mallie. I love the way, Jessie Gussman not only tells a story but gives life lessons especially on how to make a marriage last. I loved the characters in this story. I especially liked the section where the family ended up buying the ugliest goat they had ever seen at the animal auction and how they fell in love with it. This is a great series and I highly recommend this book as a clean romance with a HEA ending. I received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

I love everything about this book! Jones Dunn and his niece, Florence, just moved to Sweet Water North Dakota and already, Billy the Highland Steer is chasing Jones. They moved into half of a duplex with Mallie and Toni living in the other half. When Toni and her friends get together, they decide that this is just the thing the Lord had in mind and Toni asks Jones to marry her mother. I love the marriage advice given by the pastor before he marries them. I love the other characters in Sweet Water and their side stories. I love the wonderful advice through scripture that Jessie teaches through the books in this series. WONDERFUL!
Jessie Gussman has created another delightful story in the Flyboys of Sweet Briar Ranch series. Take two strangers with teenaged girls plus a matchmaking cow add a little bit of humor and a lot of faith and before you know it, you have a sweet and believable happily-ever-after. Jessie creates characters that you grow to love and that you cheer on as they work through the issues that threaten to keep them from finding love and happiness. If you enjoy sweet stories that inspire you to be better and do better, you won’t be disappointed in Just a Cowboy’s Love Song. I received this book as an ARC reader and this is my honest opinion.
I LOVED this sweet and clean book by Jessie Gussman in the Fly Boys of Sweet Briar Ranch series! It had all the warm fuzzies, humor, romance, and a happily ever after. Jones and Mallie meet because of Billy the matchmaking Highland steer: Jones needs a nanny, Mallie's daughter, Toni, wants a dad; Jones' niece, Florence, wants a family; Mallie needs a job; and an ugly goat needs a home (it's a poignant highlight of the book!). The way that each of the characters demonstrate their faith as they tackle their situations is a cornerstone for Jessie's books and this one was beautifully done. A delightful read!
Jones has moved to Sweet Water with his niece, Florence, he's minding his own business walking back to his rented flat when Billy starts following him, not knowing anything about him he's a bit perturbed. Fortunately he meets Toni, who's a similar age to his niece, and lives next door. Mallie is Toni's mother, she's just lost her job, a good thing really as her boss was horrible. Now she has the time to spend with her daughter. Both girls trap Jones into saying that he'll ask Mallie to marry him, he's never met her, but she says yes! Not sure who is more surprised!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Another awesome book by Jessie Gussman. As usual, there are many life lessons to be learned by reading this book. Jones Dunn lost his sister in a plane crash. He is now raising her young daughter, trying to continue to make a good life for his niece. Moving to North Dakota where his sister had bought property for a farm to have a place in between their gigs on music tour, he only intends to stay until he decides what to do about his career now that his sister is gone. Then he told his niece he would propose to Mallie, their neighbor and Toni’s mother not expecting her to accept. Would a marriage of convenience help both of them?
Mallie and Jones decide to get married for the sake of their daughter/niece. While I did struggle with how quickly they married given they were pretty much strangers, (I would have preferred Mallie nannied for a while first) I found it made me think about what was important in a Christian marriage, firstly commitment to God, then commitment to each other then the children. I really liked the words of wisdom the pastor gives in this series, yet it isn't really a 'serious' book, there were a heap of funny bits, and Billy the steer lives up to his reputation as a matchmaker. I received an ARC but this review is my own.
Mallie has just unexpectedly lost her job and is wondering now what the future holds for her and her daughter. She has decided she will keep an open mind for whatever God has in store next. Her daughter has still been working on finding her mom has husband so she can have a dad. Jones moves with his niece to Sweet Water to the home his sister bought before she died. He is looking for a nanny for his niece for when he needs to travel. When Mallie’s daughter asks Jones to marry her mom and he agrees to ask , he doesn’t expect the answer he gets. A Marriage of Convenience can work for both of them and gives their girls two parents , but can they now become a real family?
I liked how Toni finally got her wish to have a dad. I also liked the spontaneity of Mallie's response (I would probably have taken so much time to think it over). That it all worked put is all good, though I peg it down to fairy tale.
It was an enjoyable read, I must have gone through it in 6 hours or less, so it's not too lenghty (a selling point for me). The realities of farm living / ranching are also present as with all Ms. Gussman's books.
I recommend the book to anyone who wants a clean, cowboy life (with its sometimes harsh realities) and a HEA read.
I received an ARC, and I am leaving my honest review of the book.
