4 'Bad Bat' Stars

Whoa! I just finished this and had to write a quick review. This was intense. It was an unexpected treat to have the mix of erotica with the 'Night Stalker'. I really felt for this guy. The 'less is more' creepy vibe really amped up the suspense and I couldn't put it down. But then, I like Stephen King so there you go.

I was also able to mourn a bit for the loss of the possible...um...innocent 'love connection' hinted at in the beginning. Two very different people wound up together.

Minus 1 Star due to a plot hole

I loved this book. I'm not sure why it worked so well for me but it did. It's definitely my favorite Megan Hart book. I think it's perfect for the nocturne cravings line (short, paranormal stories between 15k-25k words).

So if you know me you know that anything by Megan Hart is an auto-buy for me. Anything she writes I buy, I read and enjoy. This was really no exception. The Harlequin Nocturne Cravings are basically short stories that are not part of a series or even related. This was just a bit darker than I was expecting.

Starts out with a bang! Girls night, bachelorette party, and Celia meets a hunky geologist than rocks her world. Luke is any womans fantasy man. He can make your toe curls even though he's not Mr. Six Pack Abs. After their one night together though he goes to a cave to do research with his team. And he doesn't come out the same.

Throughout the book I wasn't sure if he had just lost his mind truly or he really was attacked by whatever creatures lived in the cave that fed on him for 24 hours. He keeps coming back to Celia on and off whenever it strikes his fancy between going hunting for the creatures of the night. And everytime she lets him back in. It's twisted and sexy at the same time.

The only thing I thought could've been developed better was actually explaining what the hell the creatures were and what they did. I felt there was a lot of fade to black on those aspects. But I was very happy there was no fade to black anytime Celia and Luke got together!

If you are in the mood for something a bit darker but still very sexy then give this short story a try! You won't ever be disappointed with Megan Hart!

This is a quick little story that starts out one way, but heads in a whole different direction. The start of it was fun, Chelsea was in a bar for her cousin's bachelorette party, where she runs into Luke. After a steamy night Luke leaves and experiences a horror. This is where things take a turn. This experience leaves Luke a changed man, but his one constant is Chelsea, he hasn't forgotten their one night. After months away he shows up at her house and gives her the whole story. Chelsea is unsure if she should believe him and Luke ends up leaving. This seems to set the tone for their relationship, yet you can see that they really care for each other. Things with Luke reach breaking point and Chelsea is hurt. Even with the pain she believes in Luke. The ending will leave you with a smile even with everything else that happened, because you just know these two are supposed to be together.

This is not my usual genre... however as a romantic/fantasy-horror novel, it was
good enough for me to finish the book. With that said, those who like this type of writing, would appreciate the writers talent I give it a 4 star, just for the novelists talent.

An odd love story... of a geogolist, Luke Gaines, who after one night with Celia Henry (whom he met at a bar), he is attacked by a colony of bat/human creatures - and after duping his way out of the looney bin, he spends a year tracking the creatures (he hears their buzzing in his head)... going to see Celia after being released, and telling her the truth... and though she asks him to leave (after sex, shower, and laundered clothes) she also asks him to keep in touch.. and he drops by, and she cares forhim for a few days... and when he has destroyed all but the last one... the last one goes after his parents and sister... and then kidnaps Celia, drawiing Luke to him... and he feeds a bit off her... and Luke rescues her, killing the last creature... hmmmm

Romance mixed with paranormal happenings.

Simplistic story starting with a brief encounter between 2 people highly attracted to each other. Continuing with an escape from a new, dangerous species. Could have been a better story with more substance.

This novella certainly kept me interested. The pace flowed very well. Megan Hart can really weave a fresh story! Only two things kept me from giving it 5 stars. I wanted a little more background to it over the amount of sex and I think it was probably too quick to go to the press as the editing was quite poor.

There seems...

To be something missing otherwise it would be a 4 rating. I liked this. It's a haunting love story with a twist. I loved that the female character was the stronger of the characters. I would read more if it it a series. I am going to get more by this author.

I wish there was more of the story from Luke's point of view.. Made it somewhat hard for me to believe his story. But the sexy part is sexy as always ;)

Crazy, weird plot. More like a short story. Could not help to finish this book just to see if this plot got any better. It was like a B movie with "romance" flung in.
