I was really hooked with Nikki's story and then Julian enters. This is quite a story of rebuilding your life and how to move forward. This was an inspiring story and felt very real. The romance was a great addition to the story.

Nikki flies to Hawaii to compete in a video contest, where she runs into her highschool crush Julian. Julian has a surfing injury and months of unsuccessful therapy prevent him from shaping boards. But running into Nikki again maybe just what he needs to recover and for Nikki, winning the contest and healing Julian’s broken pieces proves to be as much of a struggle as getting back on her own surfboard and braving the waves of the turbulent sea. Can love conquer all? Read this amazing book to find out.

Two shredded hearts overcome everything to rediscover their love of surfing and each other. A romance perfect for summer, Surf & Tour will win your heart. Ellis Summers has written a touching story about overcoming fear, falling in love, and taking chances. The characters are easy to connect with while the descriptive narration takes the reader inside the surfing world. The romance is unexpected and will move you. So, grab your favorite beach chair and see why I loved this book.

Let’s start with the characters. I connected with Nikki right away. Her fear is realistic and relatable. Her inner strength, though, is what I love most. When faced with her fear…well, I won’t spoil it for you. Needless to say, the ending is emotional. Julian is also a character worth cheering for. He’s an injured soul and one I also connected with.

The romance is expertly executed with a slow-burn vibe. This author normally writes romantic suspense. This is her first contemporary romance and I enjoyed it immensely. I especially like the interplay between Nikki and Julian. Their chemistry is off the charts.

If you’re looking for a beach read/summer romance, you’ll love Surf & Tour. If you’re a part of the surfing community, this book is for you.

Surf & Tour: A Sweet Romance Beach Read
By Ellis Summers
🎧 Audiobook narrated by Dani Staro & Robb Moreira

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was such a cute and heartfelt beach read with subtle hints of Christmas woven in. A sweet second-chance romance that starts when champion surfer Nikki Young travels to Hawaii for a competition and unexpectedly runs into her high school flame, Julian.

Both Nikki and Julian are battling their own struggles, and the journey of finding their way back to each other was emotional, realistic, and beautifully done. The growth and vulnerability between them made this story truly shine.

🎧 Narration:
Dani Staro did a phenomenal job voicing the female characters, giving each one a distinct personality and emotional depth. Nikki experiences a wide range of emotions, and Dani captured every moment perfectly.
Robb Moreira is exceptional at conveying emotion—his narration pulls you in and makes you feel like you’re part of the story rather than just listening to it.

Overall, this was a sweet, comforting listen that’s perfect for fans of beach reads, second chances, and heartfelt romance. I can’t wait to hear these two narrators work together again.

Surf and Tour by Ellis Summers is my third book of the author. And I love her way of writing , short ,crisp and story on point. 💙
This is a story about Nikita Young , a surfer cum theparist who find herself participating in a Shores of Hawaii Competition , where she got to shoot a 60second movie about the shore life in Honolulu , Hawaii. But , fate had something else planned for her , on the day she lands in Hawaii she crosses her path with school time crush Julian Vaughn , who owns a Surf board company and surfer himself going through a injury.
As , the book paces along , we see Nikki and Julian falling for each other with entanglement of ex - girlfriends , the competitors , the cute Niece Daize , Aussie television show and many more.
It was very easy breezy read ⛱️🌊. You'll just love the character Nikki, Diaze and Julian. Cute romantic book , although the author could have added a few more twists made it bit more spicy. 😬 Apart from that , you'll enjoy the book 📖

This book was such a joy to listen to from start to finish. Surf and Tour delivers heart, growth, and just the right amount of comfort wrapped up in a story that feels both grounding and uplifting.

One of my favourite parts was Nikki’s journey. Watching her slowly find her way back to surfing—on her own terms—was incredibly satisfying. Her growth felt earned and authentic, and it made her victories hit that much harder. I also really loved the addition of the extra characters; they added depth, warmth, and a sense of found family that made the story feel richer and more alive.

The narration absolutely elevated the experience. Dani Staro and Robb Moreira were brilliant together, bringing so much emotion, chemistry, and nuance to the characters. Their performances made it easy to fully sink into the story and feel every moment.

If you enjoy character-driven romances with personal healing, supportive side characters, and a strong sense of place, this one is well worth your time. A definite five-star listen for me. 🌊💙

Teen crush to crushin’ it?

My mother grew up in La Jolla (just south of The OC) and she surfed every day in high school. Some days, it was before & after school as well as during her lunch period!
However, she did leave the surf lingo behind so I was left with ValSpeak. The author makes up for my poor education with tons of beach and water references. Here’s one that even has a lesson for non-surfers:
‘Secrets were like kelp. While in the shadowy forests of the deep sea, they never interrupted our lives. But once exposed to the sun, they stunk up the air around everyone involved.’

It’s great when families have hobbies that they do together. Both Julian’s & Nikki’s families are into surfing and have passed down the joy to the next generation(s). My dad, brother, and I all played soccer for years; it was our entire weekend during season. But these characters? They LIVE their love of the ocean.

Some sage advice from the author:
‘A champion shakes it off’
'Don't get into arguments with fools.’

I even learned something new – hands-free crutches!

I’m definitely going to continue reading this author’s works. Already have the Grant series #’s 0-3 (‘Jumping Into Fire’, ‘A Smuggler's Last Song’, ‘Quinn & Barrett’, and ‘Granted’) as well as ‘Complicated Strangers’ and ‘Hunting for Blue’.

EDIT:
Just a few days after finishing this, Hubby and I spent two days at a beachside hotel for our latest holiday. Even went swimming in the evening!

Surf & Tour is my second book by Ellis Summers.

Nikki, a top-notch surfer who is scared of the ocean & waves after a scary accident, goes to Hawaii to participate in a contest about life in Hawaii. She runs into Julian, whom she crushed on in high school. He owns a surfboard company, and is recovering from an accident. He and his adorable niece Daize, help her with the video project. What happens when Nikki and Julian start falling for each other? You’ll have to read it to find out!

While this is a sweet romance, there is depth to the characters. I intend to read more books by this author.

"He created waves of pleasure when he stood near me" -page 128
An interesting, memorable, clean romance about two people who knew each other in high school and unexpectedly meet years later. Their careers, interests, and personal challenges intersect with surprising twists and turns along the way. It's refreshing and distracting to read about surfing. I traveled to Hawaii and Australia in the pages of this book. The diverse characters especially the teenage niece give the story additional emotional depth. The relationship that the niece has with her uncle is endearing.

Nikki had a crazy accident with surfing that freaked her out. She has been surfing for a while now. Her sister entered her into a competition, and she got accepted to go to Hawaii for the competition where she runs into Julian, a man she used to have a crush on. Julian recognizes her instantly, he’s had an accident too and has crutches, so he can’t surf either. I loved this book so much, childhood friends to lovers. Childhood crush reuniting. The love between them is just amazing. The way they help each other face their problems and are there for each other is motivating.

This was such a sweet RomCom!

Narrator Dani Staro kills it again for me. I haven't found anything she stars in yet that I haven't liked.

This story flowed so well I didn't even take any review notes as I was listening. This was just one of those books I found myself wrapped up in the story.

This story line was so adorable! I did the audio version and the dual narration was perfect! This was the perfect romance (there is zero spice but honestly didn't need it). I would definitely relisten again!
