Freddy Brown, a shy young man, employed as a coffee barista comes into the possession of a mysterious electronic glove. Donning it he felt a surge of energy coursing through his body. Under the influence of this glove he felt compelled to fashion a super hero costume and, propelled by this strange device, to fly over the city of Brookston on a nightly patrol. When he came across muggers and other criminals, through sheer will force of will, he was able to subdue them with a blast of energy emanating from this glove but the consequences of this individual taking the law into his own hands were dire.

Freddy Brown is a recovering drug addict working as a barista. Someone gives him a glove that endows him with super powers when he wears it, and Freddy tries to use his powers for good, but he finds that he can inadvertently cause a lot of harm as well. It's rather a grim story but very well told. It is also interesting that the glove is analogous to drugs, because Freddy becomes addicted to using it to stop the throbbing pain in his hand. A very good, unusual take on the superhero genre.
