Another delightful story from Elvie Rhodes. In the mould of Rosamunde Pilcher, she brings to life a woman, Caroline, who after the death of her husband, looks for a change in her life. Lovely character development and her descriptions of both Bath and Brighton made me feel I knew them and certainly as if I'd like to visit. Highly recommended.
This story takes us on a journey of a young widowed woman who is trying to find out what she will do with her life now.
I enjoyed reading about how the main character speaks out what she wanted in her life. She is very innovative and not afraid to take chances, therefore she grows into her own person.
I enjoyed this book and the characters were well developed. It’s a book for the beach or a long night! It was very interesting to understand the location and what surrounded the town they lived in! What a fun read!!
I really enjoyed this book especially as I am a recent widow and the setting is England. I don't remember much about Brighton but that didn't matter. The story was wonderful and did not end as expected. It won't change lives just give you a get away from your life.
A very interesting character to watch develop. I seldom read books set in other countries but I enjoyed the visual descriptions of this setting. I would've given this 5 stars except I found the ending very sudden and disappointing after such a great detailed story.
I was just getting into the characters when it ended. I want more! I want to know what happens to all of them. Is there a continuing story? Lovely story please continue.
I really loved this book, and to James I'm one sitting be a use I couldn't put it down. The author gives you wonderful descriptions without becoming bogged down. I would highly recommend this author.
What a lovely story. This is the first book I've read by Elvi Rhodes and plan on reading more! I enjoyed the characters in the book although I wish there had been about 5 more pages to wrap up a few things. This was a good book!
This was a good book, but so many mundane details were dragged out. Caroline was learning to live without her husband after his death. She sold their house and moved away, bought a large house with rental flats, and considered a totally different job. And a new love. I did enjoy the basic story.
I kept hoping something interesting would bring this book to life but no such luck. The ending was absent and very disappointing. You are expecting at least one more chapter to tie things up but then nothing - no closing just an abrupt end.
Loved the setting of the story and descriptions of the area. Caroline was a brave and interesting woman to be admired working through to discover a new independence.
I've only read historical novels by this author, so this was a bit different. Not a very exciting read, I really wasn't that interested in the mundane details of Caroline's life e.g. what she had to eat, the plants she bought in the nursery, or even the exacting details of her house purchase!
