Get up close and personal with the real Navy SEALs who inspired the mega-selling Rogue Warrior series! The Real Team spotlights each member, adding depth and greater reality to the persona of the Rogue Warrior. Told in Marcinko's unique first-person voice, readers will learn how and why he chose each of them in order to assemble one of the finest antiterrorist groups in U.S. history.
Richard Marcinko is the author of the Rogue Warrior thrillers and is a living, breathing hero honored with the silver star and four bronze stars for valor, along with two Navy Commendation medals and other honors. After serving in Vietnam, he went on to start and command SEAL Team 6, the Navy's anti-terrorist group, and Red Cell, a high-level anti-terrorist unit. Marcinko keeps his hand in the field as the president of a private international security company and now lives in Warrington, Virginia.
Read this book a number of years ago and really enjoyed it. I have roughly 10 or so books by former Navy Seal Cmr. Richard (Dick) Marcinko. This particular book gives a look at the real deal people who are in his "fictional books". Love his writing style, it's raw and it's real. Difficult to put down.
It was cool listening to navy seals from seal team 6, tell their stories and use everything they learned from buds and seals and incorporate into their retired life. If somebody is lucky enough, they have a colvin In their life to help wake them up and realize what they are doing in life isn't what they want to do. And it motivates them to change. Good looks colvin 👍
Enjoyed the read. Having read some other Rogue Warrior fiction and non-fiction, this book allowed me to understand the personalities that inspired some fictional characters as well as the people who supported the author through some epic challenges.
In the Real Team, Marcinko returns to the same well for a different drink of water. I enjoyed meeting the warriors and learning their stories but the attempt to draw parallels and offer lessons between special operations and the business work fell short.
Found this used at the grocery for $3. Pretty good read with views from The Rogue Warrior and other SEAL Team members about how their lives before, during, and after military service. I want to read the other Rogue Warrior books now.
A brief look into the lives of some former SEAL team members. Who they were, where they came from, what motivated them, and why they made the decision to serve their country as members of this elite group.
After reading about nine of his books, it was nice to meet some of the team members and read their stories. It's nice to put personalities with characters.
