Mason Mackenzie has never been good at relationships. Casual hookups she can handle but anything involving commitment is a stretch for her. But the older she gets, the more she begins to loathe the lifestyle she's become notorious for. Her track record proceeds her in all the wrong ways which leaves Mason to think she'll never find The One.
Chase Monroe has been Mason's best friend for years, but they’ve never crossed the line of something more. Not that Chase doesn't want there to be more. She's often found herself wanting a relationship with Mason that was more than friends. Especially after her fiancé left her after a terrible accident. But can she really be more than friends with Mason?
When out for drinks one night, Mason and Chase agree to give friends with benefits a try. Mason is hesitant at first, knowing her feelings for Chase will make it almost impossible to keep things casual. But how can she say no to those blue eyes looking at her?
Can these two best friends keep things casual? Or will they realize they are destined to be something more?
I've read all of Clarke’s books. They are all set in Moonflower Cove, while I was surprised and intrigued by Clarke’s debut State of Grace, the following books in the series all lost some of the quality. I still enjoyed reading them, I liked the characters and the stories enough to ignore the mistakes. Chasing Fireflies is different.
I couldn't connect with Mason and Chase or the story. From page one, it's clear the characters will go from BFFs to FWB to forever, and frankly, it's just annoying. First off, BFF to FWB is just ridiculous, that can never work. The way they set out on it while both of them have talked about having feelings for the other character, eye roll. And of course, it goes to forever, and let me tell you something about this forever… You are FWB and BFFs after you do a public restroom hook up you decide you are a couple and declare your love. I'm sorry, just NO. That's utterly ridiculous. I don't care how long you've been best friends, you can't just do that. And there was one glaring mistake about a side character, well just a mention of someone called Patrick. He was referred to as someone’s twin sister, so yeah weird. And in the final chapter, he was a twin brother. Maybe the character is trans, or maybe it's just a weird ass mistake.
Anyway, I couldn't connect with this book, found the story very annoying and the characters even more so.
Maybe slightly unfair 4*s but it was so predictable, no real will she, won’t she. It was smooth, even the hiccup was smooth…. A good series but enough now.
Mason and Chase have been bestfriends for years, since college. Chase dated guys, and Mason girls. (Though Mason felt an attraction to Chase, she thought she was out of bounds. ) Mason only does casual hookups, and after a devastating shooting and her (male) fiance' walking away Chase is willing to date woman. After a night of drinking Chase and Mason decide to be friends with benefits. Only problem is, they love one another. I read this book in less than a day. Not that it's a thin book, it's that good!! 5 stars
This is the book why I started the series and.. I was not happy. I felt Mason was very selfish with Chase even after I finished the book I believed that what she did to "win" her was not enough.
Oh! And the late drama of an ex appearing out of the blue.. meh!
Addison Clarke told a sweet romance. I was really looking forward to Mason's story. I love the emotions that the author brings out in me. I'm glad there is another book coming soon. I don't want to see this cast of chara ters ever stop.
Why Mason is a hot mess who needs smacked and Chase is a cinnamon bun that must be protected at all costs.
Mason finally gets her own book and in what comes as no surprise she's a hot mess. In fact it's one of the things that you can always count on in any of the previous Moonflower Cove books, where Mason is concerned she's a mess. Not in all things, no, she's consistently good at her job running a nonprofit that trains dogs to be service animals. In her job, Mason excels. In fact, she's much better with dogs than she is people -- but those that care about her and love her know there's someone capable of love beneath those many, many, many, MANY layers.
Chase on the other hand is open and loving despite the horrific things she's been through in life. She's cheerful, amazing with people and dogs alike and if you're her friend then there's nothing that she won't do for you. She's a perfect mix of tough and soft at the same time whereas Mason is more like... a sourpatch kid -- abrasive and sour on the outside and sweet on the inside.
Throughout the book Mason's asshole tendencies go in to overdrive as she realizes horror of all horror's, she's gone and caught feelings for someone despite doing her part to stop the spread of such things! And what's worse? She's caught feelings for Chase who also happens to be her best friend.
They're attracted to one another and after a few too many drinks and some flirting one night they end up in bed together. Chase has never done casual while casual is all Mason does, if that. And yet they decide to become friends with benefits. While Chase isn't sure what she's doing but she knows she has feelings for Mason so she's willing to try being casual.
Mason on the other hand excels at casual and as she begins to accept that she has feelings for Chase the more of a hot mess and an asshole she seems to become.
I loved the book even though Mason frustrated the ever loving crap out of me for about half of it, especially when she caused Chase pain which made her public enemy number one in my opinion. Overall Chasing Fireflies was well written, the characters were a blast and the author did a good job in keeping Mason's character consistent and true to the Mason we've come to know in prior Moonflower Cove series.
ALSO! ALSOOOO!!!! Can we talk about how freaking pretty the cover for this book is?! HEART EYES FOR DAYS AT THE COVER!
I was so happy the see that we were getting a book for Mason and that she would finally Mason find love. She is an integral part of the Cove family and I enjoyed her anecdotes in all of the other books, she is hands down my favourite character in the series 😍
The book shows that falling in love with your best friend can work out, however, if you're going to do it, it's good to communicate with them before you start a Friends With Benefits relationship. 😅
Chase has spent the last two years healing following an unfortunate incident when pulling over a car that was speeding. When she realises that she is not only interested in men but Women too. This is music to Mason's ears but she is also terrified that if they take their relationship away from just friends they may never recover if things go south.🤔
The things that Mason does for Chase she would never do in any of her previous 'relationships' she is so full of love and is 100% devoted to Chase, it melts my heart the way their love blooms. ❤️
This best friend to friends with Benefits to lovers story is heartwarming and beautifully written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend the whole series enormously! If you haven't started it yet, go and download State of Grace now! It's 100% worth reading, full love, wonderful friendship and they all guarantee a Happily-ever-after 🥰

Addison Clarke again takes us to Moonflower Cove, Maine, to become better acquainted with the tight-knit group of lesbians and bi women living there.
Clarke has created a second family for all of the characters populating the Cove, and this time she features Mason Mackenzie, founder and owner of Paws on a Mission, a nonprofit providing service dogs to those unable to afford one.
Also central to the story is Chase Monroe, Mason’s best friend and a former police officer who barely survived being shot in the line of duty.
Chasing Fireflies takes the two main characters to the brink — going forward means risking their rock solid friendship; staying put prevents them from acknowledging they’re so much more than friends.
I recommend spending a few hours experiencing the few months Clarke gives Mason and Chase to sort through their feelings — amid the bustling community of friends and family in Moonflower Cove.
2 chapters in and the "friends to lovers" is already slipping into the lovers side. Boring. There is no real build-up showing you the friendship before falling in love, aside from occasional references to the past. It kinda ruins the best part to a F2L romance, which is the pining, the struggling with understanding your own feelings, the denial... There's a sprinkle of these elementas, but it's all spoiled right away with way too much insight on how the characters feels arbout each other. There is a very poor and obvious attempt to rise doubt within the reader, but, really, there is nothing to doubt: the two MC are in love and there isn't much left to enjoy once you go on reading past chapter 2. It's all quite obvious and predictable. I got bored halfway through and returned the ebook for a refund.
I guess I'm a picky reader, but it didn't make me feel anything, if not frustration for how unoriginal it is. Two stars because it's not badly written.

Addison Clarke has proven to us that not all series are the same. The Moonflower Cove series is engaging, surprising and inspiring. There are tears both sad and mostly happy. In this book we get Mason’s and Chase story. Mason has been an exciting character that we have loved from Book 1 and pairing her with her best friend, Chase is just fitting. As the two start to realize they have some confusing feelings, things for both of them take a turn that neither has seen coming. It is just another day in Moonflower Cove with the gang. This group is truly a family and it reads like that. Great job also with Maddie and Walker’s Wedding Day. Love it!
Here comes Mason in at my favorite character in this series!! I definitely enjoyed the angst in this more… I would have liked a back story on Chase… I know we got bits and pieces but her character almost fell flat for me. I would love to read what all actually happened to her.
Having the ex Ashley show up at the ned of the book without a decent build up or back story other than she was the one that ruined Mason for relationships was a little disappointing.
Overall tho I definitely like this!!

Mason had shut het heart off from all others after her first love had betrayed her. Her best friend Chase had watched her become a player. Chase had been a police officer and been shot in the line of duty. Chase was by her side every day and night to help her recover. They more than loved each other but didn’t want to risk their friendship. A wonderful story if a loving relationship. Awesome Series.
How can you go wrong with a love story that involves working dogs?
Addison Clarke has again provided us with an unusual love story with Mason and Chase. Oh, least I forget, dogs! This love story is a typical, delightful and a fun read. It is full of emotion and the expected heated desires of the main characters. Service dogs are featured which makes it very different from other romance reads. It is just a well written story that is truly enjoyable cover to cover.
Another book to make my desire to move to Moonflower Cove stronger. I loved finding out Mason’s story. Chase is perfect. They have overcome so much personally, they are meant to be. Another masterpiece by Addison Clarke. It’s a must read along with all of the other books in the series.
Can't give it 5* due to the grammar mistakes and incongruencies with details. In one chapter Chase mentions how Mason is wearing a dress for the premiere and she a suit and the next chapter Mason mentions it's the other way around. They could've changed their minds but why mentioning it in the first place then? A shame really. The story is great.
I liked Mason but Chase's character hit all my buttons. The story is sweet with just the right amount of angst and all the players are real. This is a perfect weekend read when you need to feel good.
While I wanted to smack Mason for being so damn stupid sometimes, I did love that they finally ended up together. “Chase” has an insane amount of patience lol but I loved the whole story regardless. I was excited to get more into Masons character and I wasn’t let down!

I had been eagerly awaiting Mason’s story and I was not let down. It was good to get an insight into her she is a bit elusive in the other books and I was just so intrigued by what made her, her. I was not disappointed by her and Chases story friends to lovers to forever, her obliviousness to her heart was refreshing. Fantastic and loved this so much.

When do your feelings for your brst friend change to stronger. Is it when you are jealous of them going out on a date. Addison Clarke covers the angst and the emotions so well. A good read
Chasi g Fireflies is another fantastic book in the Moonflower Cove series. Mason & Chase are absolutely adorable, and I truly enjoyed the last part for Maddie & Walker.
I am once again impressed with the characters, Mason and Chase. This was a wonderful story and wished it continued. When Mason thought she couldn't have another relationship it was because she was scared of the commitment. Chase, her BFF made her realize that being able to love your best friend was a good thing. Loved this book and thank you Addison for writing it.❤😊🌹
