I have mixed feelings about this some parts seemed to drag while others were full of suspense. The characters saved the book overall, they were interesting and had some interpersonal relationships that were engaging. I didn't see the full ending coming. I have decided to read the next in the series, have not decided if worth binge reading yet.
As a resident of Tampa and a downtown ex employee I loved the references to some of my favorite places. The book is so well written. Engaging with enough action and intrigue to keep you reading until the end. Highly recommend.
A gripping and intense thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. Detective Kate Alexander is a strong, relatable protagonist, and the story’s twists, high stakes, and emotional depth make it impossible to put down. A heart-pounding ride from start to finish
Authentic, intense, and unputdownable. Mike Roche crafts a crime thriller that feels real at every turn, with Detective Kate Alexander facing a relentless and chilling pursuit of justice. A gripping read for fans of true-to-life crime fiction.
I enjoyed this. The first one in a series is always hard. I like the way all the characters were introduced. The story was solid and intriguing. I will move onto the next one. I recommend it.
I really enjoyed the plot of the story and all the different characters. Easy reading and very fun. It was difficult to put down. I went forward to another book by this author.
Being a resident of rural Hillsborough county I found this book fascinating and very interesting. The communities being familiar made this read a lot of fun!
I couldn't put this down until I finished. Fast paced enough to keep me interested, yet enough detail to be realistic. I hope all his books are this interesting and revealing at the life our law enforcement officers live and have to endure on a daily basis. Especially showing the struggle of balancing time between work and home as my husband has done for 30+years.
Far too often, fictional police departments are populated by a collection of stereotypical characters. The Blue Monster stands in stark contrast. The author did a terrific job of creating depth in the main and supporting cast, creating a genuine quality that consistently revealed itself in their actions as the case unfolded. I hope this is the first of a series of Kate Alexander/Frank Duffy novels.
What a great book! I just finished the last page and am looking forward to reading more of Mike Roche's work. He does a wonderful job of introducing the culture of an urban police department. I loved his heroine Kate Alexander; she felt very real. Some fun twists. I particularly liked Dumb and Dumber - two cops with hugs egos and small acumen. Well done!
