Callie Nightfall is cursed. At least, that's what she believes. Her family has been plagued with mysterious deaths, and she hasn't seen a full moon since the night her grandfather died.

Now, a record-breaking storm is rolling in, and burglaries are happening all over town. Whatever they're looking for, she knows it's linked to her family. Except no one believes her - no one but Garrett Reyes, the (young, hot, and forbidden) small town sheriff who kissed her on her birthday last year and then ghosted her.

But as she and Garrett work to stop the robberies, Callie begins to unravel her family's secrets - as well as Garrett’s - and she's in more danger than she ever imagined.

Nightfall is the first installment in a YA contemporary fantasy series with witches, werewolves, family curses, and an age gap romance. Fans of Teen Wolf will love this new series!

(I recieved a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review)

As a fan of Nicole, I was so excited to hear that she was releasing a new book! The witchy magical premise sparked my interest immediately. I truly did not want to put this book down. I loved seeing the relationships grow throughout this book and I found myself really getting drawn in to the world of Charmwood. I loved that this was part paranormal part mystery and had a really fun time uncovering things alongside Callie. There were a couple twists and turns here and there but not too many to where it was confusing to follow (it wasn’t). I am very excited to see where book 2 takes us, especially with the revelation at the end (no SPOILIES!)

Callie is a likable and relatable character, and I enjoyed following her journey as she tries to unravel the mystery of what’s happening in the town and watching her grow throughout the story. There are hints of something supernatural going on throughout the story, but as Callie doesn’t yet have the full answers to everything it's fun to learn things as she does.
I did not see the ending coming, and I like how it's set up for a much larger story arch. It has interesting world-building and magic and I can’t wait to see how this story unfolds and continues.

Trigger warning ⚠️: age-gap romance with a minor involved. The older counterpart does things to keep them that are, in my opinion, questionable.

If you love Twilight and shows like Once Upon a Time, Vampire Diaries, True blood etc... you'll love this book, too. My problem? I'm not among them 😅
It earns 4⭐ from me regardless, because it's well written and kept me hooked. What didn't work for me was the ending, where all hell broke loose and I couldn't suspend my disbelief any longer; which is a "me" problem. I believe the final explanation could have been longer though, so that it wouldn't come across rushed.
Perfect for fans of the genre, and harmless fun for those who aren't.

This book kicking off the YA series touches on so many great themes. Friendships and how they can change as teens get older, tribal relations in modern America, use of crystals and herbs in every day life, and they’re all integrated into a fresh feeling story of a curse combating a family curse. There’s elements of forbidden romance, multiple types of magic and lots of tension throughout. I found myself totally invested in Callie’s story!
