Someone recommended this to me about a year ago and I've used it most days in the last year... by and large it has been excellent. There were occasional prayers that weren't quite in line with what I'm used to praying or would prefer to pray. Very occasionally there were some I skipped because I didn't find them appropriate or helpful. But by and large, I really appreciated having prayers written out for me that were scripturally informed and historically valuable. I like the way it guides you to pray for things on your own as well.
I recommend checking this out if you're after some ideas for keeping your daily prayers interesting. It's designed to use 5 days a week for a year. I'll likely use it again sometime in the future.
Prayer plays a very big part in my life. So when I was offered to read and review this book, devotional I jumped at it.
I try to get a new devotional every December of January to start the new year off with some good ole fashion time in the Bible as well as helping me to sort out some much needed prayer time and needs.
Author Kurt Bjorklund has an unique way of sorting out some amazing scriptures to bring the days:
Excellent devotional. Highly recommend it. The only problem I saw with it was that it drew too much from European and American contributors. I would have liked to have seen more from Latin America, Africa and Asia.
I used this book for my daily devotional. I cannot recommend it enough. It was a wonderful spiritual journey and I will miss it like missing an old friend. I'm not one to read a book more than once so I will pass this one on.
Amazing!! I have a strong feeling I'll be coming back to this - and quite possibly may get the full version of the book, too. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to breathe a bit of freshness into their prayer life.
I'm not a devotional book reader in general, but this excel tic book of prayers is a beautiful resource for breathing life into your heart. It covers all centuries and numerous church traditions. It is ancient and contemporary. And mostly it packs in the prayers from scripture.
The author is great. The scriptures for each day are wonderful as well as the prayers at the end. The prayers are a great inspiration when trying to find the right thing to say.
What a privilege to pray along with believers of all eras and many locations! This book greatly enriched my prayer life as I prayed through it day by day. It rotates between focusing on confession, adoration, thanksgiving, intercession and affirmation. Don't miss it!
