"A gift is something truly special. How you use it is up to you and whether or not the ability reaches its fullest potential is up to you. Think well before using it."

This is such a chill and sweet isekai!

Sweet might be the right word, but the story itself feels very laid-back with no high stakes (and no fan service at that!), making it a relaxing one to read. The sweetness comes in with Leo because even as a huge Fenrir she is SOOOOO cute!

I completely forgot how much I loved her and Takumi's relationship in volume one since it had been so long since I had read it! Interestingly enough though, I had no problems with jumping right into this one with no rereading/skimming of the previous volume as I had still remembered what happened beforehand. I never expected that, which means I enjoy this series far more than I realized!

In fact, I'm going to look into getting volume three because I really like the idea of herb cultivation! It's an interesting magical gift that Takumi has and think I love it because he has expressed wanting to use that gift to help others. Can't be upset about that because that's awesome! 🤩

I continue to enjoy how there really isn't any romance in this story and that it focuses on Takumi and Leo still discovering this new world. I would also add that Takumi and Leo are getting to know one another better because now he is starting to clearly hear her voice in his head??

Overall, I found I super enjoyed my time reading this volume and would recommend this series to those who enjoy isekai manga with no fanservice, want a focus on a cute "dog," and looking for an easygoing story!

I missed some context, since this is volume 2 in the series, but I figured I'd take a chance on it anyway and test how it reads to complete newcomers.

It makes me think, "A Cat from Our World and the Forgotten Witch but Dog"—the dog and her master get isekai-ed into this world by some fashion, but the dog gets turned into a silver Fenrir and gets the powers of Fenrir. (The cat was a stray and just has the power of Cat, though, so this is a significantly different story.) Anyway, that's why I've tagged both dog and wolf, since I don't know which one applies better, as Leo is *behaviourally* the same dog.

The story is a bit slow, though, at least in this volume—it focuses mostly on Takumi assuring people that Leo is a *docile* Fenrir, then analysing his herb-growing* powers, before Lady Claire asks him to take her back to the forest where they met, so they can explore its depths. The most action is they encounter a group of orcs, which Leo quickly takes down and makes a snack (since... they're large pigs, I guess, but I don't really want to tag pig for now).

It's not a BAD story, as such, but I don't know if it's that easy to get into from book 2. I have to make a lot of assumptions of things that probably happened in the first volume, based on what the characters talk about. It DOES have probably the most memorable quote related to technology, which Takumi thinks to himself when Claire is amazed by what Takumi describes of his world (cars as horseless carriages), so I give props for that... and am surprised it took THIS LONG for the quote to show up in an isekai story, haha.

Recommended for isekai fans/dog lovers, I suppose? Hard to convincingly recommend when I only have part of the setup, though.

*or, powers over "non-crop" plants... basically weeds. Curiously specific, but I suppose there's a good reason for it, especially since it appears to be overpowered anyway when he grows "not-aloe" and that turns out to be an excessively powerful healing agent.

Locals learn that Leo is a gentle giant and she gains a lot of friends. Takumi learns a bit more of Lady Claire's backstory. Takumi gets tested for his magical abilities, and then Lady Claire sets off on a quest into the Fenrir Forest to learn what is at its heart now that she has Takumi and Leo to protect her.

So far this is a low key fantasy adventure series with very likable characters. This book is still setting the stage with introducing characters more and learning more about the fantasy world Leo and Takumi find themselves in. I look forward to the next one. This is a nice relaxing manga series to read.

Notes on content:
Language: None
Sexual content: None
Violence: Past run ins with mean wild creatures is thought about. The quest group runs into a group of orcs that Leo quickly dispatches and then the group cooks.

Other: Lady Claire reveals she moved to a secondary estate because her dad was too focused on marrying her off.

Different

I was curious about this story for a while. Being a guy loving dogs since I was a kid did increase my interest.
The story is cute and the art very well done. I already have some suspicions but still impatient to read mord.
