Maddy Mara is the pen name of Melbourne-based creative duo Hilary Rogers and Meredith Badger. Hilary and Meredith have been collaborating on children's books for nearly two decades. Hilary is an author and former publishing director; Meredith is the author of countless books for kids and young adults, and teaches English as a foreign language. Maddy Mara is the melding of their respective daughters' names.

The finale in the series, and probably the best one. We jump straight in and don't really let up. The biggest pro in this is that it actually has a Games element to it. My son was super invested, especially when things weren't looking too good for the heroes. The Monster in this story wasn't as interesting, though it got less focus than in other books due to the games element.

Finally! Someone breaks something! As a parent, I found it MORE difficult to suspend my disbelief over THAT detail than to be incredulous about world-jumping dragons 😅

My reader is an 8 y/o boy who likes dragons. He isn't interested in the Dragon Girls series so I'm especially happy that he got into this one. I also appreciate that there are more complicated words like "beady", "grasping", and "writhing" so my reader and I can work on figuring out meaning from context.

(Also, if I'm reading aloud, it counts towards my Goodreads total for the year 😅✌🏻)

This book was about 3 friends trying to save Imperia. I liked that they worked together even though, at school, they weren't friends. Imperia brought them together!

An exciting trilogy perfect for middle school readers (son in 4th/5th grade loved it)! Lots of action, dragons, and teaches about teamwork and finding the best in others, even among unlikely classmates/teammates.

We read it together - I would have given it 3 stars. Overall not a bad read for the family.

My 6 year old daughter and I give this book 5 stars. It's adventures and exciting way to end the series. Sounds like they left an opening to add more stories in the future.
