Fans of cozy mysteries, female sleuths, foodie talk, great locations, fun and quirky characters, and, of course, romance, will love this series. Culinary mysteries featuring inn keeper/cook/ sleuth Liz Ogilvie-Smythe and her sardonic sidekick Daphne Crowninshield. If you love chocolate, this book is for you. Get ready to drool, not only over the exotic chocolate beans, but also the growing romance between Liz and Officer James Finneran as they join forces to solve another crime during a sleepy Provincetown winter season. In the second book in the LIz Ogilvie-Smythe Provincetown cozy mystery series, all hope for a quiet off-season in the sometimes quirky, but always breathtakingly beautiful town of Provincetown on Cape Cod, dissolves. When one of Liz's students in the ten week chocolate recipe course, a distinguished historical restoration expert who is also a brilliant mathematician, dies after a bite of chocolate cream pie, things get deadly. Once again, innkeeper Liz and newly appointed Police Chief James Finneran join forcesto find a killer. This complex recipe includes murder, kidnapping, sibling rivalry gone virulent, an ancient property claim dispute, a well-known pirate's offspring, and a secret room full of ancient home-brewed pharmaceuticals. Liz is teaching a winter "cookery" class (Liz and her best friend Daphne are both British expats in the American "colonies", so expect a lot of fun Brit-speak) at the Cranberry Inn, but murder is definitely not in the tasty curriculum.Once again, painterly descriptions of the village, twisty, tantalizing and tasty conundrums, quirky characters, and drool-worthy foodie conversations, make this a mystery that retains its secrets to the very end. Look for book III in series, two sleuths, one case. Liz Ogilvie-Smythe and India Street will combine their sleuthing skills in Case of the Deadly Grind. You will never take another sip of coffee without a brief hesitation.

Though I liked the story, I agree with another reviewer that this one had way too many grammatical errors in the form of run on sentences, incomplete sentences, wrong names, etc. Definitely interfered with the continuity of the plot and concentration.
