Fun read, the author's memories from childhood to adulthood, including recipes that she perfected along the way.
At times, the writing style uses fancy words that seem a little snobby, but not disturbing to the point o abandoning the book.
Her mother died when she was young her father married again and spiraled into Alzheimer's, and she married and moved into the country side and learned to perfect her own versions of favorite dishes.
Brilliant premise. Excellent writing. The author came up with a brilliant format. The book is full of lovely essays full of warmth and love. The recipes are wonderful. This book is my new "go to" when I need a few minutes of respite from life (or am whiling away time waiting for a tray of cookies to bake).
I was very impressed with the lovely writing in this book - far more graceful and distinctive than the writing in many food memoirs. It was both a satisfying literary read and an inspiration to get in the kitchen and try some of her fantastic-sounding recipes. This book will become a permanent part of my collection - I loved it and am looking forward to more from this talented author.
