Jade & River
Connor proposes to Jade at her 26th birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. Even though they've only been dating for 2 months, he doesn't know her middle name, or has a ring, she accepts. The next day he's off to medical school across the country and rarely reaches out. Ummm, hello, SO MANY red flags, but she still stays engaged for ages and ages and ages.

River was a funny fella, outfit choice and man bun aside (sorry not my cuppa, but to each their own) and seemed like he'd be a fun guy to hang around, but not too often because he doesn't act his age most of the time. Not the prettiest non date they had, but I liked how when he had food poisoning the author chose to keep it real by having him compromise his pants and needing a new pair 😂....because let'd be real, it can happen.

Overall, this was not my favorite of Aimee's books because it just took way too long for her to realize what everyone else saw about Connor. I wanted more on Jade and River as a couple, not just friends.
There was no doubt they had so much in common and always had a great time when they hung out. They seemed to fit together perfectly and I felt their connection. I liked their banter and the 80's, 90's and friends references. I'm all about a good time and they definitely have it, but they both come across as immature for being in their late 20's. Jade is very naive when it comes to relationships. Their friendship was always referenced as platonic and they went on non dates all the time ~ there was not physical, but emotional cheating, which can still be considered cheating, and I was not really a fan of that.

Spike, the inappropriate talking parrot, absolutely stole the show for me. He and Jade had real conversations that were a hoot. I, also, loved Jade's relationship with her biker father, her sister,
Laney, and her elderly neighbor, Thomas.

Side note ~ Jade loves Supermarket Sweep, which happens to be my most favorite game show ever!! Man I wish I could go on there and race that cart around the aisles. So fun!!

Series notes:
Not sure why it's not in a named series, but characters from He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not and Love Notes make quite a few appearance, so I'd suggest reading those first, but I suppose it's not totally necessary.

Smiling is my favorite…and I was smiling the entire time I was reading Stuck With You. I smiled (and chuckled) at the banter between Jade and River, and there were some lines by supporting characters (including Spike, the bird!) that had me laughing out loud. I smiled at the tenderness and care they showed toward each other. I smiled even in scenes where there were tears, because it all came from their heart and the depth of their love. Jade and River are an endearing couple who aren’t just falling in love, they are learning and understanding what true love really is.

This was a cute rom-com read that had me smiling the entire time. If you are looking for a light summer read with some major 80s influence, look no further. This is the third book in a series, but I read it without reading the other two and did not feel lost at all.

Jade has just had the moment of her dreams happen. She was proposed to! She shouldn't worry about the fact that her fiance didn't know her whole name during said proposal. Or about the fact that he bumped his flight up back to Boston so that he could see one of his friends instead of spending the day with her right? Or the fact that he didn't have a ring? None of that should bother her because she is getting married to the man of her dreams...or is she?

Enter River Matthews. He is a regular at the bar where Jade works. They have chemistry. They ALMOST shared a moment but then Jade met Conner. River has known from the jump that Conner is not who Jade thinks he is. Now his goal is to help her understand what it means to be loved and by the right person.

This is a cute story about a young woman who has experienced some trauma that has made her a bit more vulnerable to putting her heart out on the line (maybe for the wrong person). River takes the time and does the cutest things to help her see how special she is and that what she is experiencing isn't how it should be. I saw some people refer to this as a love triangle but Conner was so detached I don't know if I would call it that. My challenges were with Jade herself. She stubbornly refused to see what everyone was seeing around her. She almost made it a point to prove everyone wrong at her determent which was frustrating. I do applaud her loyalty though at the same time LOL.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A lighthearted romantic comedy, featuring friends to lovers, dual POV and slow burn.

'She's like no one I've ever met, and I want to know more'.

Synopsis
Jade has been with her boyfriend, Connor, for two months. Everything seems to be going well until he proposes at her birthday party, forgets her full name, then races on home to the other side of the country (without giving Jade an actual engagement ring!)

As Jade tries to navigate her relationship with Connor, she begins talking to River - a friend she met when working as a hula girl at a bar. Their strictly platonic friendship consist of a bunch of 'non romantic dates', but when River's ex girlfriend shows up, Jade pretends to be engaged to River so he's not embarrassed by the encounter.

Feelings grow, and soon Jade is questioning her entire relationship with Connor and wondering if it's actually River who is the right guy for her.

Thoughts
I enjoyed this, it was super lighthearted, had easy dialogue and plot to follow, the popular trope of friends to lovers, alongside slow burn romance. Great for an easy, summery read!

I will say that Jade was quite immature when it came to relationships, saying yes to a man she had been dating for two months.. but then having an emotional relationship with River. However saying that, I am really glad that River and Jade had the cosy slow burn - they seem perfect for each other.

'Follow my heart, he'd said. For the first time ever, I know what it's telling me to do'.

I am really enjoying the books in this series, this one had so many things that had me laughing and loving the characters! Now I really do not care for man-buns, in fact what pops into my head when I think of that is not an attractive guy at all. And I hate to say that the clothes he wore probably would have been a turn-off for me as well. However, in this story, I totally fell in love with River and I choose to think that he looked like Brock O’Hurn with maybe blonder hair.

Anyway, on with my review of the story, lol. As I mentioned, I loved River. He was so funny and so perfect! And then I did like Jade a lot too. While I think she was crazy to let Connor actually kind of string her along like that for so long, it made sense why she did. The banter between Jade and Connor was perfect and had me giggling so many different times, even while I was sitting eating lunch at work and reading. There was so much fun in this book, the sibling relationship between River and Hollyn who I got to meet in the book He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not. And the other characters from other books by this author were in the story as well. I loved the parrot that Jade had, his commentary was perfect, and I loved how she used him to help her finally do what needed to be done with Connor at the end of the book. Then there was the crazy cheeseburger eating debacle and how Jade stayed with River to help him get through the sickness caused by that. All the crazy stories the two, or should I say that River shared with Jade, so many things had me laughing and loving this story.

I really did love this story and hope to go back and read any other books by this author that I’ve missed, and read what she writes in the future!

A cute friends to lovers romance with lots of romcom classic homages that I enjoyed quite a lot. Good on audio too narrated by Patrick Boylan and Georgina Sadler. This book works as a standalone but it also set in the same New York City universe as the author's last two books, Love notes and He loves me, he loves me not.

Thank you Boldwood Books & NetGalley for an ARC of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was the third book of the series, but it can also be read as a stand alone. If you’ve read the first two books you will just be able to enjoy seeing more of the same friend group. But this one was my favorite in the series, the perfect 80s nostalgia fake dating romcom I’ve ever read!!

Jade just got engaged to her boyfriend Connor, but just a couple days later he leaves for Boston to begin his residency. He proposed with no ring, and refused to talk about setting a date because he wanted a long engagement. The longer Connor is away the more doubts creep into Jades mind, that he might not be the one. He’s ignoring her, and hardly interested in talking about anything, let alone their wedding. She strikes up a friendship with a friend of a friend named River, and immediately sparks fly. They agree to be friends, and accidentally start fake dating when they run into Rivers ex. But the more time they spend together, it’s clear they’re meant for so much more than just friends.

I loved every single second of this book, and watching Jade get her happily ever after with the perfect man for her! A great ending to this series, and I’m already looking forward to the release of the novella that follows the friend group wedding of Dax & Hollyn!

What a lovely story. It is about Jade and River. Jade’s boyfriend of a few months, Connor, has proposed quite unexpectedly in front of her family and friends. And although it is very early in the relationship and Jade is stunned, she doesn’t want to embarrass him so she says yes. But after this he leaves her to go work on the other side of the country. But not before asking River to keep an eye on her, while he can’t be bothered to pay any attention to her since he’s a total douchebag. So River is stuck with her. Or you could say Jade is stuck with a fiancé. Anyway, it is not hard to guess that River is the guy for her and Connor is obviously totally wrong for her.
River is a wonderful, funny and caring friend who makes Jade laugh and makes her feel seen and appreciated and you totally see her falling in love with him because what’s not to like about him? His ponytail. Don’t like that on a man, I think it is feminine. And the way he dresses: black skinny jeans, bright green Converses, and a gray and black Nike hoodie - sooo not sexy. And a wall of those expensive ‘adult’ lightsabers - really? But besides that, he’s pretty great. And while you can guess where this is going, the story is a joy to read:
The wedding tux shopping will put a smile on your face where you didn’t expect it.
I love Spike the parrot. And the secondary characters are the kind of friends you want to have. I wouldn’t have minded more details about them.
There were a few things that didn’t got me excited:
The hiking story was creepy. I’d delete that and swap it with some other story. Same with the boyfriend box burning. Very immature but I think the writer wanted to recreate a ‘Friends’ scene since it is clear she likes that show, and can you blame her? ‘Friends’ was epic (I actually pictured Chandler’s mom as Penny Candy in my mind).
Caitlin showing up at River’s mother’s house with her family was crazy - and unrealistic.
And personally, I would have dumped Connor sooner, I don’t understand what took Jade so long, since he’s such a douchebag.
But overall, I liked the story a lot! The writing is fun, their banter was witty and fun and it kept me wanting to keep reding. Kudos for the writer to keep this a clean story. A good writer doesn’t need that to keep their audience captivated. So my compliments for that. I can recommend this book, you will enjoy it!
I received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book and I am grateful for this opportunity. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Speechless... I need another book just for River and Jade! Jade gets engaged to a guy who doesn't really want to be with her but wants to claim her before he leaves for school. He makes many bad choices and all Jade's family and friends tell her she deserves better. River decides to prove that to her and starts being there for her when she needs a distraction from life. Through awesome banter, movies and awkward situations they realise that they are falling for each other. This book will have you smiling the whole time, Laughing out loud and swooning for River and Jade!

Tropes
* Friends to Lovers
* Slow Burn
* Close Door
* Loss of family
* Crazy EX's

P.S. I loved catching up with all the previous characters!! Chef's Kiss Aimee!

I adore Aimee Brown's endearing characters and winning love stories. I  laughed through the entire book.

From the impromptu marriage proposal from the douche canoe at Chuckie Cheese to the unromantic anti-dating misadventures between two people meant for each other, this romantic comedy kept me smiling and cheering for a happy ending.

Jade Monroe is engaged to Conner, the man of her dreams (or so she thinks) who she has known for all of two months while he was on break from college. Now he's moved back East to study to be a doctor with an occasional text filled with unmeaningful emojis. And did I say, he didn't give her a ring? Needless to say, Jade's friends and family are not his fans. Especially the funny and sexy River Matthews who is bewitched by the beautiful hula bartender at the local Tiki bar and plans to woo her away from the obnoxious and douchey Connor. Connor actually asked River to keep an eye on her and text him if she has real issues. WTF? No way, Dude. Jade is out of Connor's league and River is going to prove it.

Jade needs a fun platonic friend to hang out with and cheer her up and River is just the ticket. Call it unromantic anti-dating. Yeah, that goes as planned. NOT! I love Jade and River. They get each other. They have so much in common. River's dope fashion sense and charming and witty personality are a great compliment to Jade's kindness and cheery disposition. Their extremely funny banter alone is a reason to pick up this book. Add in Jade's roommate Spike, the insulting Congo African gray parrot, the coronary express debacle, River's tribute to one of my favorite movies, "Say Anything", and I was sold. The vibe is right with these two and if anyone deserves a happy ending, it's them.

The friends and family of Jade and River are weird, loving, and outrageously funny doling out good advice and much love for the couple. My favorite part is their words describing the repulsive Connor which are on point! Douche canoe, c@#k-monger, tool, and River's nickname for him "Corndog". LOL

Pick up this remarkably funny and delightful book filled with heart and true love. It's going on my favorite books list.

Thank you to Ms. Brown for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

The writing was okay but what bothered me the most about this book were both the main characters, Jade and River, but River more so. I started out liking Jade and her family but what angered me was the emotional cheating and the fact that I never really understood why she was with Conner??? Like since the early chapters she's always comparing him to River like girl WHY are you with Conner then??? What did you ever see in him??

And River. I have never seen a 'pick-me' male character so props to the author for creating one but oh my god I could not stand this guy. He was so pretentious and thought he was better than everyone and everything. And since chapter one the only reason I thought he liked Jade was because she was hot. That didn't change over time. Finally, I think any guy fictional or non-fictional that unironically uses bro-code deserves death. "Couple code trumps bro code" "It's like, cardinal bro code" SHUT UP!!!

Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an arc exchange for an honest review.

This is the worst book I’ve ever read. The characters act like they are 14, not 30. The guy eats a spicy burger and then can’t get up the stairs on his own? Wtf, that’s not a thing. Why not have him get an actual illness. Also, overeating, eating spicy food, and food poisoning are not the same things, but the author acts like they are. If this book was about teenagers and instead of proposing marriage, he proposes they go to prom, or asks to be her girlfriend, this book would be much more plausible and her thought process and insecurities would make much more sense. The way the characters speak are unrealistic, even for teens. I had to stop and read other books as reprieve. This author needs a better editor or better friends.

Loved the dynamic between these two, trying to stay friends!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🧼

Jade is newly engaged, to a man she’s only known for 2 months. He proposes (on a whim it seems, to everyone but Jade), without a ring, and immediately moves away for school, going silent on her.

River is just a great guy - an amazing friend and caring of everyone in his life, and a fun person to be around. They meet at the bar where Jade works, and become fast friends.

Stuck with You is the 3rd book in an interconnected series. Book 1 (He Loves Me He Loves Me Not) is still my fav, and I LOVED seeing Hollyn & Dax, and their wedding prep in this one!

I really liked River in the previous book (Love Notes), and was looking forward to his story. I loved the dynamic between him and Jade. River was a pretty different kind of hero, and that was refreshing.

What I wasn’t a fan of in this book is how Jade was just oblivious, or for some reason fighting so hard against the fact that her fiancé was not really into her. It made her look dumb honestly.
Even though that’s pretty much the whole premise of the story, I still enjoyed reading it.

What you’ll find in Stuck with You:
⭐️ Friends to lovers
⭐️ Bartender & film maker
⭐️ He falls first
⭐️ Slow burn (to a kiss)
⭐️ Clean romance
⭐️ Dual POV/first person

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for an advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

When Jade celebrates her birthday at Chuck E. Cheese’s she is shocked when her boyfriend of two months Connor, asks her to marry him. Her dad and sister are not his biggest fans especially when he doesn’t even get her middle name right during the proposal, nor does he have a ring to seal the deal needless to say it is only Jade who is surprised when Connor runs off to visit his friends in Boston and barely makes contact with her. This is why after work river found her laying in the rain at the park and decided to join her it seems river can always make Jade feel better this is why they start hanging out on non-romantic dates it’s a great distraction for Jade and she is so distracted she doesn’t even realize she is falling for the funny and gorgeous 29 year old. Little does Jade know but river has already fallen for her but what does this mean for her and the MIA Connor? I was so happy to see that this is the same world with DAX in Holland and I don’t know how I missed that in the summary because I absolutely loved their story. Amy Brown is a very talented very hilarious author and I cannot wait to see who’s up next one in this book we had Jade and River as I said I love the story with DAX and Holland but if chemistry could jump off the page it would’ve end this one these two are perfect for each other I can’t wait to see who’s going to be in the next book. Amy Brown is a very talented writer and I feel so privileged to get to read her books as an early reader this is a definite five star read and one I highly recommend if you love a funny romance that is also sweet and endearing then you’ll love Stuck With You by Amy Brown. I want to thank BoldWood books and Net galley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Jade gets engaged to Connor after only dating for two months. But when he leaves for medical school, she begins to wonder if funny customer River is a little more her speed.

I love this series!

Ever since book one, I've been dying to read River's story. He has always been one of my favorite characters, quirky and charismatic. What's not to love? And this book did not disappoint! It features River in his finest. And I couldn't have picked a better person for my boyfriend (yes, I claim him) than Jade. She's kind and family oriented, but also funny and sarcastic when she needs to be. They are a match made in heaven!

The thing about this series, and Brown's writing, that has won me over is the humor. The dialogue is so well put together and genuinely funny. It plays out in my head like a movie or sitcom with each line delivering such humor. It makes the characters even more real. I want to be in this series, be friends with all of these characters. Well done, Aimee! You've created one of my favorite fictional worlds.

If you haven't started this series, now is the perfect time to start! Go fall in love with all of these characters like I have!

Stuck With You was such a lovely read. It’s a sweet romance with two main characters who are obviously meant to be together - but the happily ever after wouldn’t be satisfying if they beelined to it, would it? So our girl Jade gets proposed to right from the beginning by the wrong guy and sticks to this douchebag like a Super Ninja Loyalty Warrior just to find out way, way, waaaaaaaaaay too slow that a man who proposes after two months of dating, without a ring, using a wrong middle name, and leaves to another state without any plans to come back, simply isn’t Mr. Right. But it’s fascinating to see how Jade stretches just because she’s that committed.

Who IS Mr. Right is River, a colorful guy, right there from the start and wooing her with all the glamour the eighties and nineties did not possess (but it’s nostalgic, so it’s definitly charming). And I’m happy the author included the nursing back to health trope to solidify these two were perfect for each other.

While I really, truly, honestly loved the parts where Jade and River interacted and enjoyed following their journey from friends to lovers, I was a little bit unconvinced about Jade’s hesitations. The author did not hold back in making her financé a horrible person. He was a worm and a snake and an annoying mosquito at the same time. If it wasn’t for him standing in Jade and River’s way, Jade should still have dumped him long ago. It’s not cool to see a character so willingly try to make it work with someone so undeserving. If you can get past that, you’ll find a really nice read with many lovely moments that will swoon you over!

Thank you Boldwood Books & NetGalley for an ARC of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion.

I think this book is just not for me. There's a layer of suspense of disbelief that I can't get past. The FMC is frustrating because she doesn't see what is right in front of her. I don't mind miscommunication, but it made her seem stupid, and I don't like stupid FMCs. She seems like the type of friend where you want to shake her shoulder and go "come on dude!" There are so many red flags, it's like she's planting them to grow more. Sadly, not for me.

Third book in the series and really liked revisiting past characters. Loved River and Jade together. Great book with lots of 80s references!

Not usually a fan of a love triangle but this one was done better than most. The only reason I didn’t give this one 5 stars was because of that and because of River’s family dinner… man, that gave me some anxiety. Ew, Caitlin.

A super cute romcom with fun characters. But the title seems way off. The lead characters were not stuck together, they chose to hang out together. Title makes it seem like they were forced when in reality they were anything but. Overall a nice story that leaves you with a warmed heart.

thanks netgalley for the arc!

i haven’t read the other books in this series, but it definitely works as a standalone. the writing was upbeat and light which was great, but unfortunately i just couldn’t get behind the characters. specifically jade, as the entire plot of her realising within the first 10% of the book that she was engaged to someone she barely knew and didn’t want to be with was just unnecessary. it wasn’t a strong enough plot for me & the cheating element just made the characters really unlikeable.

I’m sorry, but I hated this book. The plot — can you even call it a plot? Nothing happens. It’s actually a feat that the author wrote an entire book about NOTHING.

The premise is this: it’s Jade’s 26th birthday (which she’s celebrating at Chuck E Cheese), and Conner, her boyfriend of 2 months, proposes. Only he doesn’t get her name right and he doesn’t have a ring. She says yes for some reason, and then the boyfriend basically ghosts her when he flies to the other side of the country to complete med school. In his absence, she befriends River, described as an eccentric with a man bun, who takes her on a series of “anti-dates.” This is marketed as a friends to lovers, “sexy, sassy, and downright irresistible” romance. Unfortunately, it is none of those things.

I’m not the kind of person to DNF a book, but I was so beyond tempted with this one. It was a struggle to get through for several reasons.

1) It reads like fan fiction. With every major character that’s introduced, you get a rundown of their height, body type, hair color, and eye color. Like, yes, I do want to know what they look like, but at least attempt to weave their physical descriptions into the writing instead of having one paragraph devoted solely to talking about their looks. Even at the end, Jade talks about her childhood home, saying it’s a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom house. Might as well give me the floor plan and square footage too while you’re at it. Oh and almost all the characters have to have an abbreviated nickname. River—>Riv, Dylan—>Dyl, etc.

2) River’s POV is like looking through the eyes of a tween who just learned to curse. Everything is described as “[adjective] as fuck.” Cool as fuck. Hot as fuck. You get it.

3) There was no plot. Nothing really happens. Conner proposes then immediately ghosts Jade and moves back to the other side of the country where he occasionally sends her emojis as his only form of communication. For any sane person, the relationship would’ve ended there. But Jade, while complaining about him incessantly, refuses to break up with him. Instead she emotionally cheats on her fiancé with River. Because let’s be real, if the situation was reversed and it was Conner with some girl going out to eat and spending the night at each other’s apartment while shamelessly flirting, everyone would be in an uproar that he’s emotionally cheating. But instead she waits until like 80-90% of the way through the book to break up with him. Even Conner’s motivation to date Jade didn’t make sense. They ended up saying that Conner was just looking for fun, a distraction while home from med school. But Jade was actively grieving following the death of her mother. Not really an ideal casual relationship. This entire book should just have not been written.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the part where River gives Jade his ex’s engagement ring to wear for a night so she could finally understand what it’s like to be engaged. I just thought that part was so stupid. They used it as a way to compare Conner and River but it was so unnecessary because obviously she was never going to end up with Conner and that whole plot point was an entire waste of time! And I didn’t even really see the point of River’s backstory with Caitlyn. It all seemed unnecessary.

A billion percent never reading anything from this author ever again.
