All In: He Calls Me Harp Series

Rate this book
No longer an unassuming freshman, Harper Whitmore begins her sophomore year of high school as the well-known girlfriend of former varsity basketball star Scott Pierce. While the gossip and rumors from the previous year have continued, Harper finds herself much better equipped to handle them. The confidence and conceitedness that Scott so effortlessly displayed seem to rub off on Harper, but has his selfishness also?
With Scott now a freshman in college, Harper finds herself much more alone as she faces the challenges of high school life. Forces both within and outside her control are acting in ways that could have life-changing implications, and how she chooses to face them will either push Harper and Scott closer together or drive them irrevocably apart.
A story about love, life, tragedy, and forgiveness, All In takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Following along with Harper on her journey is both exhilarating and infuriating, but it is a journey worth taking; her quest for love and happiness is universal, but it can feel all too personal.

All In by Heather White Driscoll, the second book in the: He calls me Harp series. I’m sitting here on my couch with a fluffy blanket and kitty cat; trying to pick up the pieces to my heart. 💔❤️‍🩹 Ok before I get into this review I will state ⚠️⚠️ check trigger warnings! ⚠️⚠️

If I had to describe this book in one word it would either be INTENSE or REAL. What Harper and Scott face in this book, no couple should be put in those situations. (All who know me…read the book!) But especially Harper; the things that she endured in this book could have broken someone but not her. She has such a strength that was displayed in this book. Scott had such protective streak going and I honestly could not fault him for it. His loved one was one way or another being hurt and sometimes it was because of him. No matter what I write, I will never capture the intensity of this book. I will never be able to describe the emotions that are in the book. Nothing I can say will tell you how great, how extraordinary the writing is…I just can’t. I will give a little bit away, there is a small time jump. But the obstacles that Harp and Scotty had to work through? Many couples don’t survive….

This book made me feel like I was on the ride in Wildwood or at a state fair called the Himalaya. We started nice and easy, slowly picking up speed then next thing you know you’re spinning so fast you have to grip something. Only for it to slow down and throw you in reverse. This book was definitely one hell of an experience. When you’re reading this book it doesn’t feel like you’re reading about a fictional character. Some scenes in this book are written so realistic that I felt as if I was reading a script for a true crime episode. (And I’m not saying this as a bad thing at all. Quite the opposite in fact.) I think the reason the book feels as real as it does in my personal opinion is that Heather White Driscoll left a part of herself in this writing. Because of the intensity and the love that was needed in situations has caused this book to be my favorite out of the two. The feeling it gave me was, even when things are the darkest there’s always a bit of light. It shows that no matter how much you love someone a relationship is work between both parties. And that if you work together through the tears you can find the smiles again.

I also feel this need to be said, remember you can say no… if something is making you uncomfortable. Consent is so very important. No means no. Remember be kind, because you never know what someone is dealing with... It doesn’t take a whole lot to smile at someone or give a compliment. ❤️❤️

Thank You, Heather for allowing me to be a part of this fictional world. Thank you for the messaging that is brought up. Thank you. ❤️📖 I’m also really looking forward to the next book.

My final rating for this book is:
an easy 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The realism in this book:
5 out of 5 hats off to you. 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

The first thing to note is that you need to check your trigger warnings before diving into this book! There is mention of abortion, suicide, assault, violence. Also, if an age gap between a high school senior and college senior bothers you this may not be the book for you.

I adored this book! After reading Just Us, the first book in the He Calls Me Harp series, I was a little leery because the age difference of a high school freshman and a high school senior kinda bugged me -- mostly because I teach 9th graders and I want to pretend they are all so young and innocent!

But I also needed to know what happened next with Harper and Scotty so I jumped into All In and I'm so glad I did. I experienced all of the feelings while reading this book and I'm excited to see where the next book takes Harp and Scotty.

Wow heather this book had me in an emotional rollercoaster 😢😣 poor Harper went through a rough path. She sure gets tested, but kept her head up high while she faces it! 💪🏼❤️‍🩹 ⚠️make sure to check your trigger warnings⚠️This book discusses suicide, assault, and abortion⚠️ Harper & Scott both faced challenges that every couple has faced when they don’t see eye to eye, but no matter what the circumstances might be they still helped each other out at the end! This is a must read!! I can’t wait to see what the future hold for them!! Thank you so much Heather for writing such an incredible story and giving me a chance on reading them! I will cherish both copies 🥰

Just finished this book! I enjoyed it but I felt like the book jumped around when more info should have been written…when there should’ve been a new chapter it blurred into the rest of the sentences and had me confused at times…so it did seem like I had to flip back a page to see if I missed something…overall good did enjoy the book A LOT, not as much as the first because I LOVED the innocence of that book…this book has me angry at times and I didn’t like the arguing because more should have come out of that…this book could use a revised copy with more separation of chapters.

Love this series! Book 2 and must read in order.

Check your triggers on this one

Scott has graduated, and Harper is left back in high school with all the drama and rumors.

Harper goes through more in this book then and teen should have to. She was a strong headed girl in book 1... but she is just STRONG in this book. Love her character more and more.

i have so many things that i could say about this book. it was emotional, and raw. it really made me read between the lines, and devour every detail. the events that took place were at times heartbreaking, things that would really make your stomach turn, and tug at your heartstrings. there were also heartwarming scenes that really just set my heart on fire and made me feel so deeply for both scott, and harper. i feel as though their journey may never end, and that they will stick it out no matter how difficult it gets for either of them. i found myself at points where i was laughing hysterically, crying, and yelling with the couple. harper has a whole army of people who love and care about her to no ends. she is a strong minded, beautiful young woman no matter what life throws at her, and no matter how hard she has to fight to get back to where she was. scott knows love like no other. no matter what demons he’s facing, who he was before harper, or his own personal needs, he stands by what is right, and fights for what he loves, unconditionally, at all costs. he is there. he is the guy to lean on.

i love that they stick beside each other and defend themselves hand-in-hand from the world against them. they both went into a relationship that was new to both of them. they both learned, and experienced things differently, but also the same. they felt each others emotions. harper always believed in scott, no matter how many times she wanted to quit, or how many times he showed her the side of him that she refused was ever there. she believed in his goals, and put aside her own feelings at times to help him achieve those goals. she not only wanted her own success, but she wanted and pushed for scott’s success even more. and i believe that is the most powerful type of love a person can have for someone. scott was the same. it was beautiful. the way they found their way back, the way he protected her at all costs. the way he stuck beside her although it was painful for him as well. the struggles she faced along the way. his patience. everything. it was absolutely beautiful.

this book was a compelling read. it was such a page turner. i enjoyed every moment of it, even the parts that weren’t so enjoyable. i am grateful for getting the opportunity to read this series, and i can’t wait to see what’s coming next. given the privilege to join scott and harpers journey has been so bitter sweet.

as i’ve said before, heathers writing is phenomenal. she knew exactly what she was doing, and she did it well.

“i brought myself far. but he brought me further, and i’ll forever be all in with him.”

WOW! That is all I have to say. Grab a box of tissues and hold on because this book is tough. It is very raw and real.

I love the He Calls Me Harp Series. This series is very captivating and draws you in instantly. Although this is a two-book series, All In is my favorite book. These are not stand-alone books. You have to read Just Us to understand what is happening in All In.

All In is the second book in the He Calls Me Harp Series. It follows Harper and Scott and the obstacles they have to overcome. The first book Just Us, is about Harper and Scott in high school and the challenges they face, with their age gap and Scott's past choices. The second book All In, continues their journey once Scott goes to college and Harper is still in high school. However, the confidence Harper gains from book one to book two is amazing. You see her grow as a person and as a woman altogether. You will cry about the challenges she faces and the traumatic situation she goes through. You also see how Scott supports her through everything and stands by her.

There are times in the book that made me mad but also understand why. The details in this book is incredible. Heather captivates you with every detail and brings you back to the 90's. The way she tells this story is on a whole other level. I have read many books but only one other has made me cry. I had to put this book down and process what I was reading several times. I bawled, was angry, hurt, and overwhelmed, but overall amazed. This is hands down my all time favorite series! I will re-read this series im sure several times again. It is beautiful and loving.

if you are looking for a cute and loving book series, I 100% recommend this series. It will captivate you and make you feel as if this is your story. You will feel every emotion and twist and turn. You will be brought back to the 90's and relieve little things we tend to forget. This series will be close to my heart forever.

Book two of the He Calls ME Harp Series. It was excellent! We continue the story with Harper and Scott, now that they are older. Scott is in college and Harper is a Senior in high school. The love story continues and the story of them dealing with being apart. This book is darker than the first with some really bad moments. Please check your trigger warnings! I really liked this book and highly recommend it. Please read the first book before you read this one (Just Us). I can't wait for book three.

Below is the synopsis:

No longer an unassuming freshman, Harper Whitmore begins her sophomore year of high school as the well-known girlfriend of former varsity basketball star Scott Pierce. While the gossip and rumors from the previous year have continued, Harper finds herself much better equipped to handle them. The confidence and conceitedness that Scott so effortlessly displayed seem to rub off on Harper, but has his selfishness also?

Wow. As I said previously on the review of the first book, I don't know where this author has been hiding. These books are tremendously good. The first of the series was a bubbly, adorable, high school romance. This one is a bit different and much darker.

In this second novel in the series, Harper is about to graduate high school and Scott is still in college. They have been together for 4 years at this point. I do not want to give away any of the book, so instead will review how it made me feel.

The writing was good! That is always a necessary item in a novel. This book was DARK. There was so much in this that I struggled reading through. The issue for me is that I can relate to their situation so closely, so it brings back a time in my life and makes it feel real and present all over again. That being said, Harper is me. When I read this book I became Harper. It's not very often that this happens to me in books, but with this one it does.

Scott frustrates me through much of this book, and there are concerning behaviors that do arise in his personality that Harper had never previously seen in him. This is where the emotional abuse comes in. It is not heavy, and it is not throughout the whole book, I do feel that he improves, and recognizes the issue by the end of the book.

Beautiful story. I will definitely recommend to others. Just make sure you are in a good mental state when you go into this one, and be mindful of the trigger warnings!

Heather Driscoll's "All In" isn't just a book; it's a five-star masterpiece that feels like a personal journey through the highs and lows of Harper Whitmore's sophomore year. As I read through the pages, I found myself laughing, crying, and holding my breath in shock.

Driscoll's writing effortlessly captures the roller coaster of emotions that Harper experiences, from the exhilaration of newfound confidence to the gut-wrenching moments of tragedy and forgiveness. There were times when I cried alongside Harper, feeling every ounce of her pain and triumph.

What struck me most about "All In" is its universal themes of love, resilience, and the quest for happiness. Driscoll tackles these themes with honesty and sensitivity, making Harper's journey feel incredibly relatable. I couldn't help but see parts of myself in her struggles and victories.

However, I must mention that this book does tackle some heavy topics, so be sure to check your trigger warnings. But don't let that deter you; "All In" is a story that's worth experiencing, even if it means shedding a few tears along the way.

In "All In," Driscoll has created a timeless tale that will stay with me long after I've turned the final page. It's a book that I'll undoubtedly revisit whenever I need a reminder of the power of love and resilience.

Let me start off by saying this story is one of tragedy, growth, finding yourself and love. I was very excited to continue the story of Scott and Harper. To see where they were going to go next in their relationship. However, I was not prepared for the content in the books. There are no trigger warnings at all which would have prepared me for what I read. I was not expecting to actually read about Harper getting r**ed or assaulted or even having a miscarriage. I also was not expecting to see Scott in such a toxic light that I kind of no longer started rooting for Harper and Scott and wanted them to stop with the back and forth. I am a mood reader so in the present time I was not in the right headspace for this book. I would just warn others who may have triggers to proceed with caution. That’s not to say it’s not a good story. The author is amazing it just was not the book for me in this time. I still have it 4⭐️ because it was written well but I would have liked to have known what I was getting into

Where do I even start with this book so it starts with Harper off in 10th grade Scott in his freshman year of course Barrett’s back in the picture bugging the heck out of Harper won’t leave her alone. She’s asked him you know over and over not to talk to her you know he’s acting like Scott thinks he Scott Then Leah you know about going to a rave and then bear is telling her to go would be so much fun. He would love to go with her so she decides to go in the meantime she gets a very bad headache and Barrett decides to give her something she is tripping off of her. You know whathe tries to shoot her toes with another drug and that’s when she figures she needs to get out of there.

Then it skips to her senior year and Barrett still bugging her. He tries to act like Scott and he’s not Scott. A lot of things happen in this book and I just feel like you need to read it because you have to have your own personal experience with this book. There is I a lot in this book and it will crush you.

I've heard book three is everyone's favorite but this was a five star read for me so I'm not sure how it can get better than this but I'm excited to find out.
This book is top tier. I love Heather White Driscoll's writing so much. I love Harper and Scott so much and I'm so invested in their relationship. I feel like we've been through a lot with this couple and it brings them together even more.
I love how caring and patient Scott is when it comes to Harper and I love how confident and assertive he helped sophomore Harper become. Harper truly loves Scott. Their love is a committed love story. It may have been a roller coaster but their love is unconditional.
On a side note Barrett is the perfect villain. He is a character you Hate with a capital H. There is no goodness in the guy. He's entitled, self-centered and full of jealousy/rage. I am hoping we've seen the last of him.
I loved how well paced this book was it kept me wanting to know what happened next and was shocking. I can't wait to read book three!

Wow! Wow! Wow!

All In dives right into what was left from the first book Just Us, it continues the love story of Harp and Scotty. This book focuses on Harper finishing up high school before joining Scott in college and the tribulations they face during that time.

This book was amazing! Not only was it fast-paced but it kept me on my toes.

Things happened unexpectedly in the book that had my emotions all over the place to the point where I was messaging the Author!

The book dived into real-life experiences that many people have gone through or go through. All In will have your heart shattered and leave you wanting to embrace Scott and Harper even with the slight happy ending💖!

The book depicts that a relationship is not all rainbows and sunshine no matter how in love people are with each other.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone!

⚠️Please make sure to check the trigger warnings⚠️
The book discusses suicide, assault, and abortion.

I was fortunate to have been sent this book by the author and it did not disappoint. The second installment to the He Calls Me Harp series continued to follow the story of Scott and Harper into the future. We see Scott in college and Harper finishing out her high school experience.

This book was a roller coaster. Definitely check your trigger warnings. This book really focused on the communication between Scott and Harper. Long distance is definitely difficult and having a foundation of trust was extremely important for their relationship to prosper. We learn that Scott can be extremely mean and manipulative which is a side to him that he used to be and never allowed Harper to see.

It was interesting to see their love develop as to them getting married while she is still in high school to then discovering she is pregnant. All the emotions that came from their unplanned pregnancy brought back a lot of Scott’s past which ended up being a very sore subject in their relationship. To Barrett continuously harassing Harper to get at Scott, to Barrett finally raping Harper and causing her to lose the baby.

It was really important for their love story to be displayed over the last four years to be able to show the root of their love to be able to work together to help get through Harper’s attack.

This story was beautifully written and I just can’t wait to see where this story continues to go!

How was the second book in this series even BETTER than the first???? The title is appropriate - I am all in, too, to the very end!

The story of Harper and Scott continues in the second book of the He Calls Me Harp Series. They’re faced with new challenges, new experiences, new defeats and new victories. The themes are a bit more grown up this type around, though, as they are faced with difficult choices and even more difficult situations they have to fight their way out of. Can they persevere??

I’m so invested in this series that I feel like I know these characters. The character development is phenomenal, as is the writing style, making it. Very enjoyable and easy read. I found myself trying to slow down my reading so that it wouldn’t be over so quickly! I devoured this book and cannot WAIT for book 3!!!!!

🥺😭😭😭❤️ That is all I have to say❤️ Man, I don't think I've ever cried/sobbed as much as I have both books of Heather's❤️ Her books get better and better with every page and I mean that❤️ Her books are just so refreshing and fun but a bit dark in the second. I still enjoyed every single word and still love love love Harp and Scotty❤️ At least this time, I didn't finish the book at almost 4 am😅❤️ I was just so engrossed in everything and couldn't sleep🤷‍♀️❤️ So what do I do? Read😅❤️ okayyy, I'm rambling😅❤️ But I couldn't even start to imagine what Harper goes through. I felt for her though. I still have flashbacks and trauma from my exes. But anyways, highly recommend but please do check triggers! ❤️

Let’s start off by saying that the writing is amazing!! You won’t be able to put this book down, same with the first one of the series; “Just Us”. The only reason why it took me 4 days to read was because of finals season.

However, after that ONE thing Scott did to Harper, i was yelling at her to leave him!!!! So much arguing and making up and then arguing again, that was the one thing that made me want to take breaks whilst reading this book. The communication between them was so bad at times, that even I was left feeling frustrated😭

Overall, I think that I just wasn’t prepared for the happenings in this book and that i expected it to be a pure love story like Just Us, but the growth of these two characters was ASTOUNDING. I’ll definitely be reading “Porcelain” soon!!!

Emotional!!!!

Emotional is what I am…. This book touched my soul in ways only a book can. I felt everything Harper felt. I cried the whole way through. At times I had to stop and put the book down and walk away bc it was to much for myself and my past that crept in and my thoughts about my own struggles with some thing that happen in this story. Scott and Harper are beautiful they have worked through everything and fought for each other in every way that’s possible. Their love for one another never faltered! If you haven’t read this series you need to it will be healing for your soul like it was mine!

These books have put me through an emotional ringer. I finished this book and didn’t know how to go on with my day. The pain that these two had to go through, at such a young age, was insurmountable. I don’t think I can put into words how reading this book made me feel. I felt like I was living it right alongside Harper, like I was a fly on the wall but I could feel everything. I can very clearly remember what it was like growing up during this time, and what’s its like living life in a small town. Everyone, knows everyone and everything, you can’t escape it. I can’t wait to read the next book, but first I need to cleanse my head and heart with something different.

Ugh this book! I loved it but I was so mad plus all the other emotions at characters the entire time. That can only mean one thing, I was invested and needed to know everything. I could not put this book down. The continued relationship of Harper and Scott including their obstacles of being apart made this feel like it was a realistic story. I think what I loved the most is I could relate to it and remember what it was like in high school trying to navigate everything. I feel like I do need to say there are triggers warnings in this book including SA, suicide, and abortion. I can't wait to see what the future holds Scott and Harper and how they navigate difficult situations.

TALK ABOUT ROLLERCOASTER OF EMOTIONS!!! 🥹🥹🥹🥹 I thought the first book was intense. I couldn’t stop crying. This one right here holy cow, harper went through hell and back. She got tested and walked right through it with her head well put on her shoulders. They both went through it. Relatable as hell but it did broke me. It got so upset and I sobbed so much. HEATHER!!! I see what you did here, I see you.! This was so real and raw YET so good, I loved every piece of it. Please be aware of the trigger warnings.

Oh my goodness, did this book take me on a wild ride of emotions… I was angry, frustrated, sobbing!
This book is of raw and real look into what it is like to be married, young, and have those arguments as far as relationships go! The constant fighting the constant yelling, the constant arguing. Harper did gain a backbone and I’m glad she did! Heather did an amazing job with book 2 and I cannot wait to receive book 3! 🥰🥰🥰 Harper is a very strong woman… She’s stronger than I would have been, if I had been in her situation! I just wanted to jump in the book and give her a giant hug.

I loved this book just as much as I did her first one Just Us, which I believe was her first book and she hit it out of the park!! All In takes up where Just Us leaves off. It is romantic, full of angst, funny, sad, emotional. This series is everything you want out of a book series. It was very nostalgic for me as it takes place in the 90’s and that’s when I was in high school so this really resonated with me. I highly recommend reading this series and go follow this author, she’s an amazing person!!

Rollercoaster of emotions was absolutely right. This book shattered me. But I want to pick it up and read it again immediately.
From book one (Just Us) I was completely enamored with the characters and the aspect of their relationship. It felt so raw and real. I felt like I watched little 14 year old Harper grow up & the sense of attachment I feel from that is evident.
The character development was SPOT ON & they completely sucked me in.
As always, check the triggers..

This book picks up where the last book ended. Harper is starting her sophomore year; however, Driscoll fast forwards to Harper’s senior year. It makes sense, but I would have like the book to start with senior year, rather than provide that exposition. As the story continues, it is more of angst of being separated that we’ve seen in the other book. However, Driscoll hits her stride and the last half of the book is the most compelling and some of the best character development in the series. The delicate and raw way that Driscoll deals with Harper’s trauma and pain is evocative, causing the reader to ache for Harper. Driscoll doesn’t wrap up this event in a neat bow; there is growth and setbacks, but a feeling of optimism as she draws the book to a close.
