Blood Work

Rate this book
A brother to save. A profession she swore she'd never return to. Four vampires who want to stake their claim.

Tria Haines barely survived the attention of an abusive clan of vampires ten years ago, and she swore she’d never go back to working stiffs again. Until Max is diagnosed with the same illness that killed their father, and Tria runs out of options. Reluctantly, and against Max’s wishes, Tria reaches out to her old contact and enters the Blood Work auction.

Not wanting to relive history, Tria sets a firm limit of two months' service as a safeguard to protect her if things go wrong with her vampire clients. The Potenza Clan wins her bid at the auction, and appears to be gentle and respectful, but they want more than blood and pleasure. They want commitment.

Tria is determined to keep the promise she made to her brother. Can she honor the promise, even if it drives a wedge between them and costs her a chance at happiness?

-- Author's note --
Our heroine, Tria, won't be choosing between her love interests. There is graphic sexual content and foul language. And everyone loves everyone!

Lara gifts us an absolutely awesome book! Tria and the Portenza clan's story begins with her finding out that her only family, her brother, is ill with the same disease that killed their dad. To be able to pay for the needed treatment, she returns to the Blood Work auction and is matched with the Portenza clan. This sets off a whole bunch of events and emotions that eventually lead to their HEA. Beautifully written with complex characters and plot twists that keep you turning pages throughout, this book is sure to become a favourite. Don't forget to read the trigger warnings, but don't miss out on this book!!

Loved this spicy, RH romance!

This was sweet and ever so spicy as Tria finds out the clan who purchases her services at a blood auction isn't as scary as she'd expected.
The guys are amazing with each of them bringing something important to the clan. I super enjoyed how well they all fit together.
Read it if you love reverse harem where everyone gets along together, spicy vampires who bite, plot with steam, instalove with a couple and reluctance with others, protective lovers (M and F), he falls first, and breaking through past trauma to learn to trust.

love in plain sight

I honestly don’t know where to start. I absolutely love the characters they are so different. I mean Savio has some history that hasn’t been revealed which is such a shame because we need to see why he is so tortured. Oreste was I think the best character with being so loving, shy and kind. I’m glad they finally got together. We got to see more of him than the others including his story. Oscar we seem to know nothing about like how did they get together why doesn’t Savio like Oscar to call him his mate. Ramon we learned about and I’m glad he told his truth which helped Tria fall for him. Tria was the MC and she didn’t really show herself to them at all. They did a background check so what do they know. Oscar found out about a clan that hurt her from Alexa so did he tell other. I mean there is just so much that I feel is missing. I hope she clears it up.

When family means more to you than anything else, you’ll do anything to protect them or get them the help they need. After a return diagnosis Tria makes the decision to get back into blood work, if only to help pay for the treatments needed to save her brother life. Upon meeting the Potenza Clan (Savio, Oscar, Oreste and Ramon) she finds herself getting more than she had bargained for in this temporary working arrangement. Her brother takes a turn for the worst and Tria and Savio must both make some life altering decisions and embrace the changes to come. Why choose when you can have it all; 4 vampires who will do anything for each other and her, A brother no longer stricken by that which killed their father and not a worry in the world for more than what will happen next. Spruce level: 4.5.

Tedious DNF

Let's get this straight, her brother is dying and the heroine decides to sell herself to get money to help him.... Right? But at every turn she's giving them a cold sholder.... She obviously doesn't mind the smut with them but when they try treat her with decency she wants nothing to do with them. They even offered to help by noooooooo they should unpack centuries worth of secrets to her or they are all lying and she's due a tantrum. She won't even share anything about herself. Her not wanting to touch Ori because of his scars broke my heart.

I've said this a few times, I will say it again... Just chuck her out

This was a well written book! Tria finds out that her brother, her only living family member has the same disease that killed their dad. To pay for him to get better, she needs to seek money from the Portenza clan at the Blood Work auction. Will there be an HEA? You’ll have to read to find out for yourself!

Ehhhh some plot but mostly sexy time. Wasn’t my favorite but certainly not bad. TBH I wasn’t into her brother’s storyline which was a lot of the books distraction/conflict limiting the progress. Also a little longer than I would have liked but decent. None of the guys really stood out to me but I did enjoy the way they comforted each other and made care a priority.

Slow burn!

Blood Work, book 1 of Fangs, Fur, and Fortune, by Lara G Elmore & @ lauragrlmore_books is a new to me author.

This book was slow for the first half for me & then then got good that second half. If you like slow to medium pace, then this is the book for you!

that ending…

So I really liked this book but absolutely despise the ending. The way it ends gives not enough closure but it also isn’t a cliffhanger, so it is very confusing. Not sure I will continue to read this author if that is what it is like in all her stories.

This book had the potential to be really good, but it had so many plot holes, zero flow and ended very abruptly. I didn’t really feel the connection between the majority of the characters and their feelings seemed to develop out of nowhere.

Loved aspects of this + contained all the tropes I like but the pacing was off and it ended abruptly.

The relationships also developed at weird paces (for example one love interest is distant for a large majority of the book bc he wants to protect the coven and then when he gives in towards the end it feels sudden and rushed? Especially in the context of major life altering decisions made shortly after).

I am in the mood for vampire stories atm and this world had so much potential but sadly missed the mark.

I absolutely loved this book. The author did an excellent job of building a world that you get sucked into as soon as you start reading. The characters are amazing. Tria is a strong-willed woman who has been through a lot. Through her you experience grief, fear, and compassion. The Potenza Clan is made up of four vampires. Their names are in order of rank Savio, Oscar, Oreste, and Ramon. When I met them as I was reading, I instantly fell in love with Oreste. He is a gentle giant, but I would not want to be on his bad side. I think that the spice was perfectly written and meshed well with the storyline.

Loved this fantastic vampire reverse harem! Tria has had it rough and deserves a coven of men that will do anything to help her learn to trust again.
