Listen, I am really good at predicting plot twists. BUT MIRANDA GOT ME GOOD HERE!!! Absolutely love when an Author can do that! I really enjoyed the overall plot in this book as well. It moved forward very quickly and there are alot of pieces to keep track of and keep you on your toes. We also get dual POV in this book with a bonus love story to add to the overall story.
Above all else, id say the found family trope is the strongest in this installment. There is a scene, you'll know it when you get to it, where my heart was both broken and full at the same time and it was amazing 😭💜
▪︎
I think the reason I can't give this a 5 star is because I think Kirsi had too many povs. A new romance developing seems odd to add in a final installment and i feel like it took away from Raven and Bash's relationship time. I love Kirsi and Nym, dont get me wrong. But again, when you make a solid side character into a main character, it can be tricky, and I don't think it was done well enough for me.

But.
I absolutely recommend this series whenever I get the chance! So give it a shot!

The Unbound Witch is the 2nd book of 3 in this series. After the traumatic ending of book 1, book 2 picks up where it left off. Through all of the obstacles and change in their lives. A series of events will grab you by the heart to bring you either cheering for the good or bad as it goes on. By the end of the story I was in tears.

I couldn’t finish this book. Look I really loved the second half of the first book it was great! But this book was very much like the first half of the first book. It was boring and ridiculously long. I just was not feeling it. Honestly this book was a bit all over the place. I heard the ending of it was great but 60% in I just cannot drag myself through it. This book was not for me and I’m sad I didn’t love it as other did because the first book was one of my top 10 for 2022. I think it just could of been written better, planned out better. It was lacking, all over the place and fell short for me.

This was a huge disappointment. The Unmarked Witch was a 5 star read for me last year and I was really looking forward to the conclusion. The author made a huge mistake giving Kirsi her own POV. It took so much away from Raven’s story. Raven felt like the side character but her story and character development weren’t completed before giving the spot light to Kirsi. I would’ve loved a Kirsi novella because I love her as a character but she should’ve stayed a side character.

The spicy scenes were added in very strange places in the plot which made them unenjoyable for me. The plot had a sense of urgency but would pause for some spice. Usually I think the spicier the better but where the scenes were didn’t fit.

Overall, I liked the world and characters but I wanted more conflict and I thought the ending was too easy and the plot was too messy. All the pieces were there to make this a great story but it just didn’t work.

This Duology took me completely by surprise.
B1 was great - B2 was fantastic!
It had plot twists, spice, adventure, magic… the dark king 🖤 a strong & capable FMC - everything you could want in a na fantasy romance.

One of my favourite aspects of B2 was the found family. The characters really grew to love & support each other and would die for each other. When this is done well it is a favourite trope of mine & this was done perfectly!

There were some amazing WTF / plot twist moments that I won’t spoil… but JUST WOW! It took me by surprise & was so good!! Ahhhh! Definitely made the author an auto buy from this point onwards.

Also Bastian is an all time favourite book boyfriend… I loved him in B1 but his devotion to Raven is unmatched. I miss him already.

Loved this Duology so much & highly recommend.

What an awesome end to a story I loved! This duology wrapped up amazingly well considering the hell these characters went through. Book 1 was one of my fav reads in 2022 so I am happy to report that I loved book 2 just as much!

I won’t spoil anything but… CHAPTER 11 EXCUSE ME?!?! 😱🤯

Witches using actual spells and ritualistic magic really sets the vibe for this entire book, then add shifters. 😏 sexy wings, wolves and other animal shifters along with animal familiars!? Yes please!

I loved this duology and cannot wait to read more of her books!

A total disappointment.👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
The first book was better than this one. The writing was the same as the first one, same used description, same word-building, same words but somehow it was worse than
"The Unmarked Witch". You could foresee the ending from the first chapters.

SURPRISE! The final installment of this duology is out and I had the honor of reading it before it dropped.

This is a wonderful exploration through grief and dealing with the loss of the most important parts of yourself. Kirsi and Ravens story is truly one of the most beautiful friendships I’ve ever read.

I can’t say much without ruining the story. You know, after the ending of the unmarked witch 💀💀

I love the found family in this book more than anything and loved the ending of all their stories ❤️‍🔥

This duology is so great and unfortunately so underrated.

I loved it so much. There aren't enough witch books which are my favorite

I tried to make this with the smallest amount of spoilers for the first books, but some are inevitable, so mind this if you haven't read the first book and care for spoilers.

This world is so cool. I loved the spells aspects, the salt and the spell circles and the casting and everything in it.

This book starts right after the last one ended, and Raven and the crew is in the human lands, trying to get back to their home and stop the coven leaders.

Unlike the first book, in this one we also have Kirsi's pov. We see how she's struggling to find herself with the changes she's going through.

The relationships:

Raven and Kirsi, the best besties

At first I was terrified of what'll happen with the aftermath of the ending of the first book, and I was hurting alongside Raven when Kirse was pissed at her and I swear I couldn't take it. I felt Raven's pain over her friend's words but I also felt the anguish Kirsi was feeling, because what happened to her was so unfair.

But thankfully, they quickly reconciled, because they are as close as sisters and love each other.

We see as Kirsi, even tho she's struggling in her own way right now, is still the first protector of Raven. She's always the first to help her, worry about her and jump to her defense.

If they come for her, I will personally kill them all. I have nothing left to lose.”

Raven was my rock, and I would die again for her if needed

We see Raven's deep love for Kirsi back, how she's trying to take care of everything, while wanting to help Kirsi with her own struggles.

“I feel you, Kir. And if you cannot, then I will feel for both of us. You are no less than you were a month ago. Changed, but nothing less. If you're hurting, then I'm hurting. If you're celebrating, then I am. You've always been the best part of this friendship. I won't let you falter. Because you would never let me.”

“Kirsi is like my sister. If we shared the same blood, we couldn’t be closer. I would give her my own life, if it meant she could have hers back.”

“I love you, Kir. You’ve always been the best of us. The most heart and the biggest bite.”

Bastian, Atlas and Torryn

We meet a few more characters, two of them are Atlas and Torryn. They're shifters and grew up with Bastian and became close friends.
They're like brothers and they're willing to do anyway for one another.

“I wouldn't abandon you on your best day. I'm sure as hell not leaving you on your worst. I can't speak for the pup, but I'm with you.”
“As if I'd miss this,” Atlas said.

“Should my king go hunting, I will join him. My life for his, should it be needed.”

As the story progress, we get to know them better along Raven and Kirsi, and their relationship is growing deeply towards one another.

Kirsi and Atlas

This two are one and the same. They're protective of those who they love and they'll do anything to protect them. They're the funny duo, the sarcastic ones. They're the ones who make light of a situation and joke around, but deep down they're hurting inside and trying to hide it.
They recognize it in one another, and that's what makes them understand each other, care and understand one another.

“I trust no one. Not even the pup.”
“Smart lady.” Atlas grinned.

“I see you, Kirsi. You suffer. But you are not alone.”

“I love you. And every witch that condemns you for who you are is missing out on loving you, too.”
Kirsi to Atlas

Torryn and Raven

Torryn is a protector through and through. He's the voice of reason in the group.
He sees something in Raven he wants to protect, he knows she's important to Bastian and she immediately becomes important to him.
She feels safe and comfortable with him because of that.

Torryn’s aura was strictly sincerity and loyalty.

Torryn had quickly become as protective as Bastian. He checked on me in idle moments, silently watched in others. Concerned but also friendly. Safeguarding the person that mattered to his king. As was his duty, but it seemed to be more as well. Like friendship.

“Whatever damage you think you’ve placed on your soul, you let that go. Even the sky wages war on this Earth. No one believes you hate the witches before you, Little Witch. Only that you love those standing behind you more.”

Kirsi and Nym

We didn't see much of them in the first book, but her we learn more. Nym isn't really to give up on Kirsi, and so we see them trying to adjust their love to this new situation they're handling.

Do you hear that, Kirsi Moondance? You may have died, but you're killing me.”

“I would die a thousand deaths to have one more real night with you.”

You are Kirsi Moondance. You were a powerful witch, spirit blessed long before your death.

Nym was a fucking queen. She was wrong, yes. But also, perfection.

Bastian and Kirsi

There's nothing I love more than a boyfriend and a bestie relationship!
Kirsi and Bastian are so cute.
In between plotting on how to keep Raven safe, they grow close, they're teasing one another constantly and it's awesome.

“I'm siding with Bash on this one.” She threw him a look. “Can I call you Bash? I feel like we're on that level now, right?”

“you are worthy. And I see you. Your misery is not hidden from me, Kirsi Moondance.”

“I'll be the asshole to your smartass every day.

“Remind me to tell you how much I love you later, Kir.”

“the truths of your handsome Dark King.”
“I mean… handsome is debatable, really. Have you seen his cousin?”

And my favorite couple.
Bastian and Raven

Their relationship keeps progressing.
While Raven seems to be having some sort of sickness since entering the human lands, Bastian becomes even more protective of her.
They love each other so much that they'll willing to give everything they have so they could be together.

“Raven,” he yelled from behind me. “There’s nowhere you can run that I will not find you. I will chase you all over this world if I have to.”

I’ve never left you. Even here. I left everything behind, left the world to burn to the fucking ground, just to be with you.

“The only home I need is you.”

“If you die, I’ll shred this world to pieces. I’ll burn it. I’ll dig a fucking grave and send it straight to hell.”
“That sounds like a lot of work,” I teased.
His face fell. “I’m serious, Raven. You die, I die. That’s it.”

In every space of time, in every world, my love, I am yours. Forever.”

You’re the only thing in this life I pine for, even when you’re right beside me.”

“If you intend to break my heart right now, Raven Moonstone, you better warn me.”

The found family in this book was EVERYTHING. Each one of these characters formed a special bond with one another and I love them so much.

“I know freshly fucked hair when I see it.” Kirsi to Raven

“Did you steal this?” Raven asked, slicing the bread I'd acquired.
“No?”
Torryn snorted. “Why answer with a question?”

“Thanks for stealing the bread, Kir.”
“For the last time, I didn't steal it. I left a pumpkin.” The laughter was equal parts bliss and annoyance.

Staring at him with my jaw open. “You're supposed to be the nice one.”
He flashed a smile, content to break the tension in the room with me. “I've always been a rule follower. It might be time for a change.”
“Oh, shit. What will that make me then?” Atlas asked, moving toward the door.
“Still annoying,” I answered.

There was something wholesome about this group. Something I'd only had with Kirsi before. As if we'd already been through hell together.

And so they went, around the five- pointed star, vowing to protect my golden witch. All because a grumpy king decided to befriend a smartass.

Your problems are the greatest problems in the world to me. And to Bastian. And Atlas and Torryn. We’re a family now.

I'm sorry for this long ass review. But I also don't.

« I realized I had become someone’s villain. I’d wondered why Bastian had accepted the role so fully and now I understood. Like beauty, villainy was in the eye of the beholder. »

It’s always a bit disappointing when the first book of a duology is the best out of the two. But this book was still very good. I just cracked the code too easily: from the beginning of the second book, I knew Bastian was alive and I was 90% sure he and Grey were one and the same. I was right. It’s a good thing it was revealed early and wasn’t a key point in the book. The plot itself was pretty predictable. I knew how it was going to go down from A to Z - except for the identity of Kirsi’s killer. Now that I didn’t see coming but it was brushed aside way too quickly. Nym sure was forgiven easily.
I think one thing that made me drag my feet reading this book was the dual POV. I was used to Raven and I love her - but why make Kirsi the second POV? I would rather have Bastian’s POV if anything. It didn’t make a lot of sense to me. After a while, I started to lose a bit of interest.
I also think the book ended too easily. No deaths except for that one practically irrelevant character. The weird changes that were made within the identities of those who stood by Raven in that one crucial moment. Not a fan.
My favorite thing about this second book was still Bastian’s devotion to Raven, but I also liked Atlas a lot… which is why I’m gonna give the novella a chance after this.

✔️ I liked some aspects and the premise

❌ boring and flat characters that didn't change at all
It's actually YA, but with sex scenes, the characters are really immature.
Why did Kiri have an own POV? It did really annoy me and took a lot of attention from Raven (the FMC felt like a side character)

Will I continue this series? (last book)

Would I recommend? ❌

Don’t mind me over here in the corner SOBBING. 😭😭

I don’t want this to be over. I loved everything about this series. But the last few chapters of this book? Absolutely DESTROYED ME!! I experienced so many emotions and cried many sad and happy tears.

I’m truly going to miss the characters in this series so so much. Amazing series, hands down. Read this on my kindle but might have to buy physical copies just to re-read and annotate everything I love 🥹🤍

⭐️3/5
🌶 2/5
🧠 4/10

This book was not exactly what I was expecting. The addition of only one other POV and that being Kirsi missed the mark. Don't get me wrong, her POV felt right in places but not always, and definitely not that much. I would have preferred a multi POV story and for the love of everything witchy give us Bastian's.

I'm not sure what changed for the author between book 1 and 2, but these characters were unlikable way too much. Their personalities gave me whiplash. The friendship between Raven and Kirsi felt like more of a focus than the love story between Raven and Bash. And that's okay. It just didn't completely fit the vibe of book 1.

The plot twists were fun! It was the plot in general that kept me hanging on when the characters were being insufferable. The end felt a little incomplete and could have probably used an epelogue. I did enjoy the last few chapters very much, and overall, the story is enjoyable enough to read.

I have so many thoughts I don’t even know where to start. I felt so many emotions throughout this book. I laughed, I cried, I was everywhere inbetween. Plus, there were plot twists galore and they got me every time!

I loved the found family, it’s my favorite trope. Atty and Tor were perfection. Big bad shifters with hearts of gold, the best. I loved Tor first, but Atty came in strong at the end. Still love Kir and her wit forever, and her banter with Grey is always spectacular. Then add in some other new and old friends and Raven (who is forever my favorite witch) and I don’t need anything else!

This book was everything. A great ending to the duology. I miss it already.

Not usually a fan of dual POV but have enjoyed that this was between Kir and Raven. Kir really took the show for me in the first book, so was pleased for her to get some action.

I thought that this concluded the story well and was definitely enjoyable. 3 ⭐ because I wasn't wowed or surprised with the plot progression (that might be me being picky)

A solid duology.

I really like Raven and Bash. But they weren’t as much of the main focus of this book.
I was suprised to see Kirsi’s POV so much. I love Kirsi and Nym together, although I missed Raven and Kirs friendship from the first book.
I enjoyed all the new side characters.
I wish they all communicated better leading up to the finale, but it was beautiful how they all came together.

This was an amazing conclusion to a fantastic story. Miranda Lyn is an auto buy author for me now. Fucking 10/10!!

The previous book ended on a pretty big cliffhanger. And at first I was not vibing with where I thought the romance was going. Then chapter 11 happened. And holy plot twist. Then the twists just kept coming. Honestly, this conclusion was full of so many intriguing storylines that it had me unable to anticipate the story, and I loved that. It's so rare to find a book that I can't anticipate these days.

What to expect
✅ Found family
✅ Morally grey men and women
✅ Raven really coming into her power and kicking the shit out of people, like the badass she is
✅ Snark and banter
✅ Dual POV between Raven and her best friend
✅ Romance and spice
✅ Secrets
✅ Witches, shifters and wraiths OH MY

What an epic conclusion!

The Unbound Witch takes what was set out in book 1, and goes on an epic adventure/emotional rollercoaster which compounds in a totally epic conclusion.

The major theme/trope of this book is the found family vibes - they would do anything for each other, and that gives you the warm and fuzzies the whole way through.

Bastians devotion to Raven? You literally couldn’t ask for more from a book boyfriend.

The book is written well, the plot is flushed out immaculately, and the plot twists were not always what you would expect which made it such a fun read!

I am not okay right now.
That was a masterpiece.

I’ll come back and write this review when I can think straight 😩🫠🫠🫠

**I'm back.

For warning, this book will rip your heart out and, put it back together, just to do it again and I was here. for. it. every. second.

Raven is an incredibly fierce, independent character but the way she admits her grief was portrayed so well. The first book had me crying and I walked into the second one knowing I needed to grieve along with her.

I love Raven. I love her fire. I love her kindness. I love the way she didn't ever give up. She knew what was at stake and risked it anyways.

But it's not just Raven that makes the book. The side characters and the stories that developed between them were magnificently done. This sort of found family is what I live for.

I did not want to say goodbye.

Yet another masterpiece Miranda.

I adored this world.

2.5 rounding up.

Unfortunately what I enjoyed about the first book was its plot and the trials, and now the story has continued on.

The unbound witch was very hard to follow and introduces Kirsi as a second POV which makes it even more confusing. Love interest for Raven felt like he was a male character trying to check off boxes to be the perfect male character in a fantasy romance and I genuinely don’t think I could name anything that truly stands out about him.

Last 5% though…was great

Another fabulous read by Miranda. This book had me again in a choke hold. Also, can I just say that chapter 29 had me holding my breath. That was intense and I LOVED it. That’s all I will say in regards to spoilers.

I was so sad that this series has now come to an end. Have you ever read a series that you wish you could just sit in and stay for a while longer. That was this one for me. It was just as great as the first one with all the same characteristics that made the first one so great.

I wish I could live here forever lol. Come back to this world again one day Miranda. We can’t be done with them.

I now have two beautiful books for the trophy shelf. Don’t sit on this duology like I did for months on end. If you need a push, take this as your shove. You will not be disappointed.
