A nice children's story about a young girl recovering from an accident and the friends she makes as she does so. I always enjoy these kinds of books, especially if they were printed by the Children's press. They have an innocence and a light that modern children's books just can't grasp at. Everything always turns out right if you smile and have good manners and eat plenty of gingerbread and drink lemonade. :)
A light, sweet read for the most part. Immense gratitude to the writer for the consequences in response to an action of animal cruelty (animal was okay, but damn that character!). Having had long slow recoveries before, I can totally relate. It was beautiful to see the improvement between her and her father, too, and the action of art as therapy should never be underplayed. Love it. Will keep it to reread.
