Our family started reading this commentary as part of our family scripture study, but we really stalled out. We kept wanting to focus on other things, whether it was general conference reports or seminary reading lists. We just aren't enjoying it, and my children have outgrown many of the juvenile suggested activities (role play, props, games, for example, "Invite each family member to build something...next, take turns rolling a ball at each others' creations...") and even the level of the commentary provided. With my youngest now being 14, I think we are no longer the target audience for Scripture Study for Latter-Day Saint Families.

Still, I feel I've read enough to provide an accurate review. I loved Leavitt's volume on the Doctrine and Covenants with its historical tidbits and useful details, but The Book of Mormon doesn't lend itself to the same type of background information. Still, if I had little kids this book I could make use of the many many ideas for making the scriptures more interesting and understandable. 4 stars.

LOVE LOVE LOVE these books!!!!!! I use them for my own personal study, for FHE (for all ages) and also when teaching seminary. I can't wait for the Old Testament one to come out (I hope they have one in the works at least)

I am rereading this because it is such a great companion to my Book of Mormon study. I love the additional insights it brings out and the ways it helps me see how the BoM can apply directly to my life. Such a great resource!

We are currently using this book during our family study, and the children beg each night to have scripture study! They remind me, which takes a lot of pressure off :)

A good book, adaptable to family situations to get more out of the Book of Mormon as a family. Good for teaching primary age children, but also teens, seminary students and even with grown up children. Though some activities might seem more for a younger audience.
Also great for enhancing your lessons in church!

This book is exactly what our family needed. Instead of sitting and somewhat listening, the kids are engaged and interested. It breaks up the Book of Mormon into small segments and gives you creative and varied ways to teach your children the valuable lessons therein. I love it!
